Apart from surfing, Arugam Bay also provides opportunities for other water activities such as swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The area is surrounded by natural beauty, with lush greenery and stunning landscapes. The nearby Kumana National Park and Lahugala Elephant Sanctuary offer wildlife enthusiasts the chance to observe various species of birds, elephants, and other wildlife. Arugam Bay itself has a relaxed and welcoming vibe, with a variety of accommodations, restaurants, and beachside cafes catering to travelers. The local community is friendly and hospitable, making it a popular destination for both international tourists and Sri Lankan visitors.
Cheers. It's a great place, the wildlife and plants etc are unreal! So much natural beauty on display. Never seen butterflies so big! I seen an elephant the last time I was here but none so far on this trip.
The positive thing about the civil war is it kept Sri Lanka in a time capsule! I miss those days with out any back packers or family’s with kids and no surf schools! Just hard core surfers and a sleepy fishing village. My 1st time was 1999 and what a raw adventure that was.
@@yanoftheworld @yanoftheworld Just use the railway map of sri lanka posted online. I believe you get off at Valaichenai station to see Pasikuda on Batticaloa train. There's only 1 train to Talaimannar and 3 or 4 trains to KKS Jaffna. Dont forget to see elephants in lahugala and Kuamana national park while in arugambay.
Incredible vibe in Aragum Bay…..surfers paradise!!!! So good to see it thriving compared to 17 years ago….🙌🏼
Definitely mate! Little bit more of a buzz since we were there last

Best wishes from Orkney.
From a SriLankan.
Thanks! Best wishes to you. I've never been to Orkney, hope you are enjoying it?!
I’ve been there. Great place to learn to surf or just enjoy the food and the beach. Great fish n chips, too.
Need to get surfing soon! And some fish and chips
Aragum Bay is such a sweet spot and off the beaten track. It and Hikkaduwa real gems for surf.
Definitely mate, need to go Hikkaduwa next!
Wow very nice beach...thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Pasikuda is also great close to Arugam Bay. Another great place is Talaimannar and KKS beach in Jaffna. Both accessible by train.
Thanks! Will need to check those out 👍
