    @Security Baron, I’ve been very impressed with the image quality and zoom of the nest cam IQ outdoor. At the same time I bought a 2!camera system Arlo Ultra but I have found that even with the ultra plugged into power it does not meet the artificial intelligence or image quality of the nest. I value 180° field of view the spotlight and Siren of the ultra is there another camera you recommend with the same quality of the nest but with the spotlights 180° Field of view?

      Great question! Unfortunately I haven't reviewed any cameras with the 1080p HD plus 4K sensors and an 180 degree field of view. The Ring Stick Up Cam Wired comes close though, with 1080p HD video and an 180 field of view, just no 4k sensors: bit.ly/2XFeOae

    I read somewhere it is 1080p when viewing live but doesn't upload 1080p quality to the Nest cloud. When you need to retrieve it for police , etc., it is downgraded. True?

    Apple store now has the Nest app at 4.7 with nearly 700,000 ratings. Be sure you're looking at the app from Nest labs (not the other app by a third party which has 2/5)

    Need to talk about connection, if you have 3 cameras and some far from router... What's the range... Some people can't even get it because nest camera connection would be too far at some houses

    • @SecurityDotOrg
      @SecurityDotOrg  5 років тому

      Yes, that's going to vary a lot depending on placement of walls, furniture etc but you can always buy a range extender. Here's a good one from Amazon: bit.ly/2lRoL61

    I'm considering whether or not to get outdoor security cameras. I have a brick house. How safe is it to run the power cord along the side of the house to an outlet? Couldn't someone cut the power to the cameras?

    • @SecurityDotOrg
      @SecurityDotOrg  4 роки тому

      Someone could definitely cut the power cord, so an option is getting a wireless camera and putting it out of reach. Here is a list of the best outdoor wireless cameras- bit.ly/2VKiLtH

    Hello Baron, what is a very good camera with local storage, and if you have 2 Nest cameras, does that mean you pay double for cloud storage, $5 - 3days, $10- 10days with 2 cameras does it become $10-3days, $20-10days? thanks friend keep up the excellent job

    • @SecurityDotOrg

      Hi,
      The Wyze Cam has local storage! If you have 2 Nest Cameras, you'll have to buy a Nest Aware subscription for each but if they have the same amount of cloud storage, you'll get a discount. See my written reviews for more info:

    I am new in the market for security cameras and decided on the nest because I already have the google nest doorbell. Based on my research, it seems that Nest/Google removed the IFTTT functionality to no longer allow Hue and Nest to work together. Is that correct? I would like to have my nest cam outdoor IQ turn on a smart bulb. What is your recommendation? Thanks!

    • @SecurityDotOrg
      @SecurityDotOrg  4 роки тому

      No, Philips Hue products still work with all Nest products. See their website for confirmation: nest.meethue.com/
      So yes, the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor can still work with Philips Hue along with Nest Hello. More info on the Nets Cam IQ Outdoor here: bit.ly/2EPVIGT
      And here's a Hue bulb that would work with it- bit.ly/2HMlqg4

    Thanks for this review? So I have a question maybe you know or don't... You know if the nest IQ camera pushes notifications straight to your Google home? What I mean is I know when someone rings my doorbell and it is an unfamily your face my assistant will tell me that it is someone that is unrecognizable...I'm wondering if there is anyway that the Google home would automatically notify you when an unrecognizable person is on your property with the outdoor camera. The reason for this question is this morning two kids came up onto my driveway and were trying to get into my pickup truck. I'm a pretty heavy sleeper so I didn't hear the notification on my phone but it would be nice if my assistant would have also fired off a notification throughout my house I probably would have heard it that way or at least someone else in my home would have heard the notification as well.

    • @SecurityDotOrg
      @SecurityDotOrg  5 років тому

      Hi Marcial,
      Great question! If you buy Nest Aware, you'll get facial recognition which includes familiar and unfamiliar face alerts. For more info, see my full written review on the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor: bit.ly/2EPVIGT

    • @marcialp93
      @marcialp93 5 років тому +1

      @@SecurityDotOrg Thanks for your reply...Yes I am subscribed to the nest aware but I can't seem to find any information on some sort of notification through my Google home when it spots an unfamiliar face on the outdoor IQ... now I have the doorbell IQ cam and the only time it lets me know when there is a familiar or unfamiliar as when someone actually rings the doorbell that I get...but I was looking to see if it would pick up any unfamiliar face and automatically fire off the Google home kind of like an alert.

    • @SecurityDotOrg
      @SecurityDotOrg  5 років тому

      Yes, it's possible. You need to download the Google Assistant app on your phone if you have an iPhone (it comes automatically with Androids). Then open the Nest app and tap into your Nest Hello's settings. Under "visitor announcements", click "Set Up in Google Assistant App". You'll be taken back to the Google Assistant app where you'll log in with your Nest username and password. Click "allow" when it says "Allows Google Assistant to stream your Nest camera". Then, you'll go be prompted to go back to the Nest app where you'll turn the switch to enable Visitor Announcements from your Nest Hello. Now, Google Home will announce when you have a visitor and will tell you exactly who is at the door if the camera already knows their face. Let me know if that was helpful!

    • @Povell81
      @Povell81 5 років тому +1

      @@SecurityDotOrg - Can it anounce movement notifications also? Can you notify a specific Google home only or will it announce it through our the whole house? I would like to have it announce movement notifications from outside only in my bedroom so it doesn't wake the kids up. Will movement notifications also be announced from outdoor nest security cams? And lastly, if you have the nest security alarm base station will it announce movement notification from nest outdoor cameras also?

    Hi can you change the long cable for a small one if you have near the power outlet?

    • @SecurityDotOrg
      @SecurityDotOrg  5 років тому

      Nest doesn't recommend that you use another cable because they may not contain enough power to power your camera. See my full written review here: bit.ly/2GqwkHs

    • @liameisenberg9711

      The included cable is also locking and has a gasket to protect from moisture, so a different cable would probably work but you'd compromise the resistance against water.

    i sold 18 nest cameras consisting of nest cams outdoor regular nest cam and even a couple of these 4k versions on ebay.,
    first i have a half acre property with a 4100sqft home. it has a ubiquiti unifi wired and wireless system with a gigabit fios to the house.
    in that wifi system i have 6 access points consisting of AX and AC wifi throughout the house. there is no dead zone nor is there anywhere on my property that i cant download at 400-500mbps backyard and front yard.
    i had nest all over and it sucks every aspect of it is horrible. the app takes forever to load. the cameras turn off and on all day does not matter the type any of the nest cameras always seem to turn off then stay off,turn off and back on minutes later or just turn off.
    then there is the quality i thought it was my bandwidth so i went from 400 to a gigabit connection from verizon. that did nothing to help.
    as i mentioned the video quality is basic at best. you send the video up to the cloud and back down to view it that is the biggest problem.
    i sold them on ebay(thank god there are people that think these cameras that send video to the cloud are good)
    took the $1800 and bought ubiquiti cameras that vary from 1080p to 4k. they do not send and video to the cloud, it records locally and there app to view video is superb. solved all my problems in one instant.
    oh yeah i forgot paying to record all those cameras was huge!!!!! so i use to only pay in the summer to record the house when people where over.
    at CES2020 google said it was going to bring the pricing down to $5 a month and additional cameras was next to nothing. that never happened. my bill was over $100 a month for crappy video that was useless to see and for only 5 day of recording.
    i can record 4k footage for a month on most of my cameras and the quality is gorgeous. because i am not paying for online fees this can pay itself off in 3 years

    These cameras are junk. I thought they were great upgrades to my regular outdoor cams. Currently already replaced both of the ones i bought multiple times. Driveway cam is on its 3rd replacement. Back yard cam is on its 5th. Google keeps replacing them, they keep breaking. Bricked. No power. Every. Time. One of the, if not the most important feature of a security camera is reliability. This camera scores
    0/5 in that department.
