- During the gold rush years in California, one mining camp developed into a prominent town with a story of its own. Named after a successful rancher who struck it rich in gold and property, then gradually lost it all. But his namesake today is not only a town named after him, but also the county, and many other locations and places throughout the area. This semi-ghost town is beautiful and fun to visit.
Another great history story, great art work!

Never knew this and I’m an Amador County resident residing in Pine Grove.
Always great episodes. Keep up the great work.
Another great "ghost town" video. Your photography is fantastic. Makes me want to move there just watching this. The entire video is very informative in its history. Thank you. I wish more people would admire your work.

i would argue that mountain ranch is more of a ghost town. there are no old town buildings preserved except a few old barns, old mines, water pipes and rock walls. once hidden for a good 80 years are now very visible since the fires a few years back.
Beautiful little city until san Francisco bay area people moved in
WOW 22 kids?? Guess he didn’t have cable TV.
It looks like a pretty nice racist town
