- President Biden announced Tuesday a large-scale program to provide legal status and a path to citizenship for about 500,000 undocumented immigrants married to American citizens. The program could also impact "Dreamers," or the hundreds of thousands who were brought to the U.S. as children. CBS News senior White House correspondent Weijia Jiang has more.

They can but our immigration system is broken. How is it that it takes 3 or more years to adjust your status when you're married to U.S. Citizens and that you have to wait outside the country? So basically you are separated from your Spouse and Children for years. This new process is they wait here in the U.S. just like what the Military was doing for years.
This is a legal way..a US Citizen spouse offers a path to legal permanent residency, which still does not allow them to vote.
Melanoma had overstayed her genius visa (was present illegally)and was able to adjust her status based on her marriage to you know who. She was able to get citizenship for both of her parents based on her marriage to you know who.
These people have a decade or more of history here, DACA recipients had to prove they had graduated high school and maintained employment, they even had to have criminal back ground checks.
These people already qualified but we're being discouraged in some way...let us hope all who qualify can have adjustment of status to LPR very soon.

tRump wants to round up all but their natural US born children, split up those families and deport the US educated, DACA workers/taxpayers to countries they have never lived in, as well as their illegal immigrant parents.
As always, simple thinking rarely solves complicated problems. Biden is fully briefed by all parties, then comes to a decent, humane, compromise that would normally be bipartisan enough to pass through Congress, in regular order... if not for tRump pulling MAGA's leadership strings for personal retribution.

If you have been here in America for 10 years AND are married to a US citizen, you can stay and work while your background check and paperwork is done. If you are the child of an immigrant, have graduated highschool and college here in America and hold a degree, you can stay and work while paperwork is done. Do we live on the same planet? This is very unfortunate for Indians who have been waiting in the queue for more than 10 years. They are legal immigrants, educated with Masters degree, pay taxes and contribute to the economy. People are waiting in line due to country quota for getting green card. Illegal immigrants are lucky, it is a quick pathway to citizenship 😢
