- In which I attempt to address some of the issues that I had with this power train back when it was in the car and running.

wow - Subscribed. You are a tinkerer in the purest form. Great job!
I'm going to put that on my CV. Thanks!
Looking good Ollie. 👍
Thanks! Tinwork next, ugh.
👍 More bids please 😁
Vids lol
I'll do my best!
Progress....I like it - haven't done anything car related in ages, too many other projects - need more space, time, money and space.
Don't forget about the space.
@@funksterdotorg Good point......and I could probably do with more space too!!!!
Really enjoyed this! 👍 How is the stock MGB gearbox handling the power from the T16? Are there any other good options?
It's done okay so far but I think it's safe to say it won't last as long as it would behind a B series.
I think there are some kits available to fit Ford gearboxes into MGBs, though they are kinda spendy especially if you start tricking up the gearbox itself.
My main approach to gearbox life is simply to limit the boost in the lower gears.
Hi is more vids coming, and where did you buy the alloy sump from?
Yes there will be more vids along, but it's cold in the garage at the moment so progress is slow :o)
I made the sump, see my Hot Rod Tech Bits series.
Hiya don’t suppose I can buy one of those sumps from anywhere if you made it yourself?
Alas, with the amount of hours it took me to make that one the selling price would be significantly more than a brand new ecoboost 1.6, which would be a better choice for a swap anyway! Also last time I saw the foundry patterns in the shed they didn't look very clever.
@@funksterdotorg I’ve already got a T series waiting aha. So is my best option to get an O series engine sump?
@@vintagemachinery7415 afaik the only O series sumps with the bowl at the correct end are the ones from Sherpa vans. No idea where you would find one these days. Where did you find the T16?
@@funksterdotorg a bloke was stripping a ZR with the engine in so I bought it with the plans to put in my BGT
@@funksterdotorg so does the bowl on the sump need to be at the front of the engine?
1) frankenengine 2) please make bonus birb footage where they eat beris in reverse pls and thank.
Reverse beris? What is this witchcraft? *pleh*
I picked up a Hertz rental car recently.. It was a 2020 ford mustang. I didn't give it much thought and jumped in. The car seemed pretty damn quick with a lot of punch. Admittedly it felt a little NEUTERED so I curiously looked under the hood. Hmm.. It's a 4 banger. That's when I went to the net. DO you know that little piece of shit puts out 310hp! That got me thinking..... In about 7yrs from now, I bet I can find a beater in a junkyard and rob the drivetrain out of it's ass. Imagine that thing stuck into a BGT! You'll get RELIABILITY and cheap off the shelf parts! Add in it's REAR WHEEL DRIVE, the conversion would be a breeze. www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a29145957/2020-ford-mustang-ecoboost-high-performance-drive/ I would do this long before dealing with a front wheel drive rover. But I will be watching! You're in for a shit ton of work!
Aye, even 15 years ago there were better choices, and there are many more impressive engines around now. If I were starting again I'd just stick a 1.6L ecoboost in it - light, small, good for 350 hrspwrs. But it would be (marginally) more work to do that than to get what I have working again so here I am! Ahh, the sunk cost fallacy...
