We all have a choice to make, to choose good or evil.
Thank God for his long suffering he has towards people and the mercy and grace he gives us .
At the end of this story it was evidence of God's love and forgiveness he shows to each of us who will accept him as our savior.
    Thank you JD.

Thank you. For some reason, we were not told the stories about this type of History of our Commonwealth. I was taught to stay away from certain places in Kentucky; but, I was never told why. In fact, we were not allowed to ask, 'Why?". These things happen over 100 years ago; but, the taint has stayed. Hopefully after my generation passes the taint will die with us. There is an argument as to whether men are born evil or made so by circumstance. But it begs the question: if some men are born evil, does that evil grows on its own or must it be nurtured. No doubt the circumstances of his childhood nurtured an evil in Tom Smith. That evil no doubt disguised itself as desperate self preservation when he was young. And later he nurtured it himself into ruthless self preservation and then cruel indulgence. But was he born so or, if circumstances had been different, could he have been as good as he had turned out to be bad? One will never know. Such men seem a whirlwind of chaos that dissipates leaving no trace but the damages and causing us more questions than answers.
I would not venture a guess as to whether he was forgiven. But, if he was indeed genuine in his last moments, I imagine it is possible. Guess we’ll all find out when we get there. Excellent story as always! Thank you!
