Family matters was huge in the 90's. My favorite part of the whole series is when Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince made a surprise apperance and Reginald VelJohnson couldn't hold in his excitement. Irate Gamer I must say it's nice to see you are making videos again for this channel. I've really enjoyed all of them so far. Keep up the good work Mr. Bores
Family Matters was great. So much nostalgia for TGIF and leaving the channel set to 8 so I could wake up hearing Jaleel White's voice again as Sonic the Hedgehog.
Aaaah, I remember waiting for TGIF each friday night as I was born in 1981 and was the perfect target demographic. My older brother HAAAAAAAAATED Steve Urkel and I thoroughly enjoyed driving him insade mimicking "Did I do that". That show along with Beavis & Butthead, Simpsons & WWF were my go-to programming when it came to irritating my brother :-D
I didn't watch this show in the 1990's since I was too young at the time. I didn't start watching them till it came on at nick at night and got hooked on it.
I just find it amazing that there are so many sealed boxes of cereal from the 80s and 90s still around. I could see people saving boxes now for the future but who bought a box of Urkel-Os in 1992 and kept it until 2020 to then sell on Ebay?
Never tried URKEL-O's as a kid. Looks good, though! I loved that Ghostbusters cereal from the late 80's that had those ghost-shaped marshmallows. That was so good!
By order of Ronnie the Skeleton and Satan, you are now obligated to talk about Family Matters (the show) on this channel. You have three weeks to comply Mister Bores. But yeah, good work as always man, keep it up!
Dude! Your new content is freaking great! I had watched your past videos, and enjoyed them, but your comeback is so great! I have to admit I fell into the camp of thinking you were just a ripoff, but I still liked your stuff. I think your acknowledging that your character was inspired by AVGN and leaning into that has helped. You are definitely not a ripoff, and totally bring your own personality and vibe! Thanks Chris! You are easily near the top for me when it comes to retro gaming sketch comedies! Keep it up man! I love it!
family matters had like 10 episodes every air in '89, the vast majority of episodes aired in the 90's. same with full house, mostly in the 90's. both are considered 90's shows by everybody.
@@r.b.6099 In fact, the final episode to air in 1989 was Steve Urkel's introduction, and that was initially meant to be his only appearance, but since he quickly became much more popular than the rest of the cast, he became a mainstay to the show.
i like how you are like gaming historian style in one episode and then avgn style in another video all mixed with your own unique style :P keep it up Chris!
Great video Chris. I was surprised you didn't do the Urkel dance lol. I really like you Miniature set diorama. I'm a sucker for those scale model sets of stuff. I would love to see a review on that sort stuff. Keep up the great work Chris!
Fun fact: due to Steve Urkel not originally planned to be the big hit he turned out to be, Some of the Family Matters cast did not take it to lightly and started to not only hate the urkel character but also started to dislike and mistreat jaleel white as well. (Jaleel has discussed this in many interviews)
Urkel was originally supposed to be a one time character. But the audience loved him so much that he became the star, and people started calling the show "The Urkel Show"
I remember Family Matters when a kid back in the 1990's loved the show then forgot about it because of Seinfeld. Both shows had 9 seasons and ended the same year in 1998 I was 13 at the time, last year during quarantine when I got laid off for 5 months I watched all 9 seasons and enjoyed this great show, too bad it ended it was fun to watch.
I was a huge Family Matters fan but for some reason don't remember that Urkel-Os commercial or even seeing the cereal in stores. Only cereal boxes seen in this video I remember are Nintendo cereal and Batman cereal.
1:53 that cut to when he's too old and still does "Did I do that?" lol I remember Jaleel White jokingly saying just put a bullet in my head (though I couldn't find a direct vid, Darius McCrary airs out thoughts) ua-cam.com/video/6HsyIDDNhkY/v-deo.html 2:31 yeah I miss community days like that to watch a show as a collective.
My grocery store barely even sold Urkel-Os, it wasn’t that popular even in the 1990s, also Ralston was sold off years later to General Mills. That’s why all these promotional tie-in cereals of TV shows no longer made by Ralston.
Jaleel White also was the voice of Sonic in The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog & Sonic SAT AM. So he was not only doing Family Matters, he was voicing sonic as well.
I knew these were real, even though I'm not old enough to actually remember them. I read about Urkel-Os in a food blog called 'Steve, Don't Eat It' and that was what he ate in one entry. That was around the year 2000.
Bro, I had one of those Urkel dolls when I was a kid! Thing was creepy as HELL!!! I had one of the Beetlejuice ones that was just like it, and I used to make them fight each other. So, yeah... review that damn doll!!!
5:25- You might be right. Most recent two cereal prizes I know of would be General Mills cereals of 2016 having 1 of 4 mini comics to promote Batman V Superman and another set of 4 comics for the 2017 version of Justice League. But then there were some non-movie related comics being distributed early in the 2010s that I didn't know about.
that commercial is the zeitgeist of its time as all media is. i think it would appeal to me as a tween or a kid, certainly not someone who was a little older and into 90210 and being "hip" rather than comedically hip and cool. i never did see this in the aisle however i DO miss those insert toys so much. no company makes it today as it adds to the bottom line, on top of lawsuit liabilities (choking hazard) but you can certainly give away stickers or such as they are not a risk. super mario cereal from summer of 2019 was amazing. loved the box art.
The funniest thing is that this started as a spinoff of Perfect Strangers (I didn't watch that) about a black family living in Chicago. Urkel was brought in as a minor character and the rest was history
i really have no idea why i didn't watch this guy sooner, people claim he is ripping off the nerd, i think he is doing his own thing, and he is such a good sport , and i am glad he is doing so many vidoes these days, fun stuff.
Hanging with Mr. Cooper was a ZILLION times better than the T.G.I,F. show no one remembers, or if they do never talk about, which was Going Places starring Heather Locklear. As for the cereal I have no memory of it at all. I remember all the other ones but had no idea this existed.
Is there a group of people that buy every kind of cereal released, and just hold on to them for years? I can’t imagine the cereal being good. Artificial banana flavor usually tastes horrible.
Oh this was great I don't fully remember seeing this Cereal when I was younger but I was only 2 or 3 at the time so I'm glad that you Reviewed this 90s miss step lol
