I just ordered my 5600 SXT for my new home. We don't move in for another month, but after watching this video I can't wait to install this. I'm not the best a DIYer projects, but after watching this video I am not intimidated at all about this project. In fact I am excited about tackling it. My wife might actually not laugh at me for wanting to attempt it. Thanks ABC WATER. Love the video and glad I purchased my new Fleck 5600 sxt from you on Amazon with FREE SHIPPING...
Very easy installation. The chrome flexible slip fit hose attachments to the existing plumbing are not included. I bought the Home Depot Shark Bite flexible braided steel lines but suggest getting the ones shown as the braided lines put a bit of weight on the connections. They hang where as the ones shown do not. 1/2" inside diameter drain hose is not included nor is a 1/2" hose clamp. I used the video on you tube from Aquatell Videos to program the Fleck 5600 SXT Control Valve.I found 602 ABC Water on Amazon but called and purchased direct. Happy I did. Did not pay a plumber $405 as offered by Amazon and glad I didn't. Don't be intimidated by the Kinetico or Culligan sales pitch. You can do this yourself and save tons! Great product and easy installation. Guys at 602abcWater are very helpful if you have questions.
We offer the Amazon service for the install in the Phoenix market. Plumbers aren't always the best choice, they don't like to read instructions and mess up more often than a DIY homeowner.
Thank you for your input, now when bought directly on our website we do include a short drain line and hose clamp. We also offer the stainless steel flex lines, which are better quality than those found at Home Depot. We also now pre program our units and offer a UA-cam video on how to do it yourself for all you DIY people. Thanks again for your purchase!
Put mine together today with my tablet on a stand so I could watch and rewind this video. Too easy and the installer wants $500? Thanks guys for a great install video.
I just installed this unit following the video's instructions and it was easy. It was harder installing the water filter because I had to properly mount it and reroute the service line. I used sharkbite connections with success as usual.
Good video for initial set up. How is the water added to the resin? How much water do you put in the brine tank? Does the brine tank float need to be adjusted up or down for correct water level? Thanks.
I found them on Amazon as well but had a few questions for my particular application so I googled them and called direct. Basically I took my water test results and they recommended a unit for me. I went with a 64k unit and fine mesh for my iron levels. 602abcWater ships for free and is tax free so it was the same cost as Amazon but with the particular configuration I needed that I did not see listed. FYI for other readers I guess as you have yours.

We will buy your first 2 bags of salt just for purchasing from our website.
Our house was just installed a new water softener just like the one you have in this tutorial.. I used to have GE brand with the motor inside the unit. I am pleased with this unit however, it it normal to have water inside the box where salt is added to have water in it all the time. It does not drain ever? I did not have an owner's manual so I am asking this question. It is completely different from my old GE brand where the water is drained completely.
Hi Yolanda, The brine tank with the salt in it will drain during the regeneration cycle typically at 2 am maybe once a week or so depending on your usage, then it will refill. Water in the brine tank is completely normal and is needed to work properly. You can always text us with questions at 602-321-0145 for a quicker response. Thank you for your purchase and enjoy!
Yes, it is normal to have water in your brine tank where the salt resides. Please text our tech support line if you need quick answers (602.321.0145) Acceptable water levels can reside between 1/3 to 2/3 full in tank. I bought one online, was going to install today. Why is there literally NO instructions included? Good thing this popped up, never knew to lube fittings and threads.
I install these everyday professionally. That bypass is shit. Use the stainless or brass one. Also flex line is lame. Use copper and solder the fittings. No shark bite crap. How far away from the wall was that unit? What’s holding it up? Looks like a disaster waiting to happen.
In a pre installed softener loops drain pipe, is there an air gap somewhere down the line so it’s ok to connect the drain hose from the water softener straight to the drain pipe sticking out of the wall? Is an air gap in the drain line mandatory?
So how would you recommend plumbing this system to a 3/4 in water line? The fittings you sent me are all 1 inch, and are not compatible with my home. Also these stainless steel flexible water lines come with a warning about cancer causing material? Should I really be using them?
Mark Miner, Give us a call and we can send you the proper flex lines. We do have 3/4" flex lines that would work with your home. I have a well tank in my basement with just one copper pipe that runs to my water heater then branches off. Would I have to cut the pipe directly after the well tank and make a loop as shown in the video to filter the flow to the house?
The Brine tank I just received and am installing has the holes in the corner. If the white overflow fitting is in the corner of the brine tank, how does a flat nut and flat barb fitting seal against the corner of the tank which has a radius? Seems to me that if the float sticks and the unit overflows, the water will go down the side of the brine tank, and not out the white barbed fitting for overflow...?? Is the corner location an advantage over the center location of the brine tank?
My holes are in the corner as well, but there is another hole for overflow on another wall that is lower down. Water won't reach the brine line holes as a result
I'm having my plumber put in a copper supply "bridge" like the one you start with here. Is there a reason why the copper supply lines have to be coming out (horizontally) away from the wall? Could the bridge be oriented up or down (vertically) on the wall in order to save some space? Maybe it's just to make the pipes easier to cut and connect?
You can configure the pipes to accommodate for more space. Our configuration is known as a "loop" installation. 2 things to watch out for. First, you will always want to confirm the water flow direction prior to connecting. We hear about people accidentally switching the lines (In & Out) when connecting to the water softener. This will flush the water softener resin into your home's water lines. Second, make sure the fitting is perfectly horizontal when connecting to the water softener's yoke. If the bypass assembly and yoke are strained upward or downward due to a short connection, you'll see leaks. Text us with questions at 602.321.0145
Installed mine and water is perfectly soft now. However, after the first regeneration that is required after installation, the water in the brine tank is above the 3 bags of softener pellets. That seems rather high, will it go down? Is it normal?
Awesome video! Thank you for it! One thing. What type of hose are you using for the drain line? I bought a 1/2" hose but it seems to flimsy compared to the one in the video. Please advise.
Water will be above the salt but below the overflow elbow at maximum height. The minimum water level should be no less than 1/3 and no higher than 2/3 of the brine tank.
On the main water line connections into the Fleck (what you're doing at 3:52), is an o-ring required? I'm planning on using a sharkbite to FNTP connector there, but they don't seem to come with o-rings.
I have two questions. 1. Step 9 uses the stainless steel tubing connecting the main water pipe and the softener system. I assume the tubing is not included in the package. What is the name and where can I get them? 2. I do not have the drain pipe near where the system will be installed. How long can I extend the drain away from the system? Looking forward to hearing from you.
You can find the stainless steel flex line on our website: 602abcwater.com/18-stainless-steel-female-to-sharkbite-flex-line/ The drain line can be long. We have run them straight up in to attics. We have also run them up the front of a house, across the flat roof, and down in to a drain behind the house.
I just received my system today but the brine black holding tank doesn't have the two holes in the side. Are there measurements on where to drill the holes?
Water softeners filter hard water elements such as calcium and magnesium. We recommend pairing this water softener with an upflow carbon filtration system. Carbon filtration will remove unwanted color, smells and tastes from water including Chlorine (if water is supplied by City). Visit our website to review a combo water softener with upflow carbon filter system. 602abcwater.com/collections/water-softeners-carbon-tank/products/copy-of-abcwaters-built-fleck-5600sxt-64-000-grain-w-2-cu-ft-upflow-carbon-tank
Hi there JJ Homer, to answer your questions correctly we would need to know what types of problems your having with your particular well, as all are unique. Maybe a sand or sediment filter before equipment, an iron unit or something to fix PH problems, then a softener and maybe a UV system or RO system for drinking. If you want to send us a water sample or do a water test first and give us specs like how many people in the home and flow rate needed then we could best help you with a water treatment plan. Thank you for asking!
What is the white plastic connector being used in the video to connect the drain line to the copper drain pipe? I just ordered my system from you (through Amazon) and want to have everything ready in hand to install as soon as it arrives.
I need to install this on the outside of my home. Is this weather proof? Also, any tips i plan on digging up some ground and placing it in it to hide it behind my bushes.
It can be installed outside, but the electrical connection should be weather proofed. It will need to be insulated from freezing temperatures. It can be wrapped or enclosed to prevent this.
If you have larger water lines, we recommend our high flow systems. You can find them on our website: 602abcwater.com/collections/water-softeners-1/products/abcwaters-elite-high-flow-1-48k-water-softener-system-with-digital-touch-screen Here's an install video for our high flow applications. ua-cam.com/video/eS13Xb8wb18/v-deo.html
The bypass came with my unit from ABCWaters that I ordered on Amazon. The things that are NOT included are: 1) The threaded sharkbite connectors to hook to uyour plumbing as shown in the video. 2) The white tape used on the brine tank valve. 3) You will also need the lubricant, they say you can use regular cooking oil as a substitute in the instructions, but I just bought some plumber's lube at the hardware store for like $1.50. 4) the drain line, it's 1/2 " inside diameter, again, I just got some cheap hosing from the hardware store. 5) You will need a few tools to complete the install, but nothing too fancy. You will need a flat head screw driver, or you can use a wrench for the hex head. I would have an adjustable wrench just to tighten a few things as shown in the video. And you will need something to cut the pipes, I just got a cheap small hacksaw, you don't have to buy a pipe cutter like the guy in the video used, but they don't seem crazy expensive, most of the ones I saw were $7 to $20 with a lot of variety in sizes and types. That about it. The tank came prefilled with the resin, so some other videos for this model show you need a funnel as well, but ABCWaters already put the resin in, so I didn't need more than the above to complete the task.
Haven't fully moved in, so can't comment on the water quality yet, lol! It's a new build and we opted to install our own water softener as opposed to paying the contractor $5K for the job.
I'd like to purchase your softener because it looks pretty simple to install myself. I'm just a little lost as to what else I'll need to buy? My water in / out pipes are 3/4" PVC, and the space is extremely cramped so the softener and tank will need to be about 3-4 feet away from these connections. Here are my questions: - You advertise a 1" connector to the yoke, does that mean I'll need a special adapter to connect to my PVC pipes? - Since I need to place the softener a couple feet away (the water heater is right by the pipes and leaves no room), what is the best way to extend the incoming water lines to my house I have to reach the softener? Can I buy a longer flex pipe or a different kind of pipe all together that could extend to the softener and what kind of adapters will I need? -the drain in the utility closet is also a couple feet away, can I just lead the drain hose you provide and place it over the drain or is that stupid? Sorry if I sound like an amatuer, (I am one). Thank you!

The system will come with a 1” male yoke adapter. You could install a ¾” glue coupling and then using PVC extend the pipes as long as you need them. Then install a ¾” glue x 1” PVC female adapter on the end of each pipe. You would want to connect the PVC female end to the male yoke adapter before gluing onto the pipes. Use Teflon tape on the threads of the male yoke adapter and turn a half turn after the fittings are snug. The other option would be use a flex line to connect your extended pipes to the male yoke adapter. If you choose this way you will need to use a ¾” glue x 1” male adapter on the end of each pipe. The standard flex supply lines are 18” long. The system doesn’t come with drain line. You will need to purchase ½” ID poly tubing the length needed for the drain line run. You can run the drain into the utility closet drain. You will need to secure the drain so it doesn’t whip around when regenerating. The regeneration uses the house water pressure to operate the drain, so it will have good pressure. If you send pictures we can be more precise on suggestions to do the install.
I will be replacing my current softener that is currently connected with PVC instead of copper. Can I connect my new softner with PVC instead of copper?
The stainless steel flex line water connectors shown in the video are compatible with CPVC. You can find them here: 602abcwater.com/collections/flex-line/products/pair-of-18-stainless-steel-female-to-sharkbite-flex-lines-perfect-for-loop-install
There are similar systems, like the standard and space saver softeners, that have slightly different tank dimensions. There's no difference other than placement and connection type to the brine line. We showed the 2 steps to assure all our customers can relate to at least one version. Sorry for the confusion.
Yes, it will work with PVC. You will just need a threaded adapter to connect to the water softener to the PVC. Have Questions? Call: (602) 222-9283 or Text: (602) 321-0145
My system arrived partially pre filled with resin. When I tried to remove the cap the plastic tube lifted up as well. Is it ok to push back down into place or do I need to empty the resin from the tank and fill from scratch?
Apply pressure on the distributor tube downward. Do this while slightly wiggling the tube to work it back down in place. No need to start from scratch. Call us Monday - Friday if you have more questions. 602-222-9283
Thank you that worked. I was just worried that If I tried I might force resin into the little filter cup slots and block flow. I'm assuming the tube should contact the bottom of the tank.
fleck 5600sxt do i need CARBON media in bottom of tank? or only RESIN, for replacment of existing media...city water, no iron, no chlorine smell..thanks
Keep in mind they make a 5600sxt in both a water softener and a backwashing filter. If you are rebedding a water softener, we recommend replacing the resin and distributor tube (with basket). Here are some kits: www.amazon.com/dp/B0752VWJT3
I have this softener, but it did not come with power supply for the controller. Can anyone send me the voltage, amperage power needed to run this. Thanks
I don't know why so many instructional videos Play some dorky background music instead of a voiceover explaining the subtle details of what they are doing.
We use a push-to-connect fitting. We just ran our drain line out through the copper. You just need rigid tubing. Yes, the 1/2" copper is the drain line. The home's water pressure provides the ability to run drain lines vertically up walls. We recommend avoiding anything greater than 20' vertical runs. The maximum length of a drain should be less than 50'. If you need to run a drain line longer than 50', you will need to increase the drain line diameter to 3/4" beyond the 50' mark. Text us at 602.321.0145 with your questions.
It could last decades depending on your water condition, and how you protect your water softener resin. If you are on city water, there is chlorine present. Chlorine destroys resin over time. We've heard resin lasting 3 to 5 years before needing to change it. Adding a carbon filter will remove the chlorine prior to entering the water softener. We recommend pairing a water softener with an upflow carbon filtration system - 602abcwater.com/collections/water-softeners-carbon-tank/products/copy-of-abcwaters-built-fleck-5600sxt-64-000-grain-w-2-cu-ft-upflow-carbon-tank

Thank you for your comment. A newer home, maybe in the last ten years or so in the Phoenix market anyway a loop is becoming more and more common. A lot of our business is for a replacement unit where the plumbing is also readily available. We do offer support via email, phone, text, text pictures, and video chat to help with more difficult installations and answer all your questions. Have a great day!
602abcWATER Youre Right new homes do come with some. But for most home owners they are looking to spend 8 9 possibly 10 hours on installing this softener
Installations do vary across the nation and we are here to help. Do you have a specific installation you need help with? Also as an option you can have it installed by a plumber or water dealer. Locally it's usually a $350-450 job, but again that can vary based on your individual house. We are trying to educate homeowners so they don't go spend $3k-5k on a system that works exactly the same from one of the big name companies. Even paying to have it installed our costumers are often saving 50% or more this way. Thank you for your comments.
Beautiful copper into those junk flex connectors, so when someone bumps into the softener it will fall over, and break the bypass off the head and cause a major leak, copper to the product gives it support. Did anyone else notice how unstable the softener was on the flat floor. Disaster waiting to happen.
picked up mine last night it came broken, had less then a half a tank of resin no cover on it. other videos say half to 3/4 of resin.?? What is it... there should be a set point..... or is it just enough to work for 5 years... or so......... I'm sure it broke in shipping, boxes were beat up.. should have packed a little better.. just saying...... Better have Good customer service... See if they call me back....... Pick up some grease for the orings, mine didn't come with any.... Get the food grade grease... Updates to come.....
I got my float cover today.. They told me that the resin level should be 15" from the top of the tank.. Mine was 28" from the top of the take... Haven't got that yet... It was shipped same time as the tube...??
@@michaeldotson658 Because they purposely make them so that you can not check the lifting of the mineral bed by using a light behind the tank. This means you can't diagnose it. That means the dealer can charge you an expensive service call to come out in person and fix it. A blue or black tank it is what knowledgeable industry experts call Slick Willy Tanks.

Text us with questions at 602.321.0145
@602abcwater on step 16 did you add water to the brine well where the salt is held or the well tube where you connected the hose?
Installed mine and water is perfectly soft now. However, after the first regeneration that is required after installation, the water in the brine tank is above the 3 bags of softener pellets. That seems rather high, will it go down? Is it normal?
Awesome video! Thank you for it! One thing. What type of hose are you using for the drain line? I bought a 1/2" hose but it seems to flimsy compared to the one in the video. Please advise.
how I can by-pass water to sprinkler system? I have a manifold.
Do you take the lid off the bottom of the brine line float assembly too?
what is the normal water level in the brine tank? How deep it should be normally? Why do we need an overflow?
Water will be above the salt but below the overflow elbow at maximum height. The minimum water level should be no less than 1/3 and no higher than 2/3 of the brine tank.
602abcWATER thanks! By the way, this installation video is super helpful. I have mine installed easily
I love how the music changes to asian style trip-hop at 4:35 :D
On the main water line connections into the Fleck (what you're doing at 3:52), is an o-ring required? I'm planning on using a sharkbite to FNTP connector there, but they don't seem to come with o-rings.
I have two questions. 1. Step 9 uses the stainless steel tubing connecting the main water pipe and the softener system. I assume the tubing is not included in the package. What is the name and where can I get them? 2. I do not have the drain pipe near where the system will be installed. How long can I extend the drain away from the system? Looking forward to hearing from you.
You can find the stainless steel flex line on our website: 602abcwater.com/18-stainless-steel-female-to-sharkbite-flex-line/
The drain line can be long. We have run them straight up in to attics. We have also run them up the front of a house, across the flat roof, and down in to a drain behind the house.
Can I run the drain line along the garage ceiling to reach the washer drain line? It’s about 12 feet away. Thanks
Yes, that's not a problem. Make sure to use a rigid drain line so it doesn't kink.
I just received my system today but the brine black holding tank doesn't have the two holes in the side. Are there measurements on where to drill the holes?
What should my capacity and brine fill be for a 48k? We have high Iron content as well
Is that a shark bite that you hooked to the drain line in the middle going up the wall? If not, what exactly is it? Thanks
It is indeed a push to connect fitting.
This is a great installation video. Thanks so much.
Would I program the same way for the iron sulfer tank also? I bought this setup and in addition the air injecting iron sulfer remover
The unit should be set and programmed. If you have any other questions contact our tech support at 602.222.9283.
Does this water softeners filter the water? Or do I also need a water filter system?
Water softeners filter hard water elements such as calcium and magnesium. We recommend pairing this water softener with an upflow carbon filtration system. Carbon filtration will remove unwanted color, smells and tastes from water including Chlorine (if water is supplied by City). Visit our website to review a combo water softener with upflow carbon filter system. 602abcwater.com/collections/water-softeners-carbon-tank/products/copy-of-abcwaters-built-fleck-5600sxt-64-000-grain-w-2-cu-ft-upflow-carbon-tank
What filters do you recommend for well water? Also should I have them before or after the water softener?
Hi there JJ Homer, to answer your questions correctly we would need to know what types of problems your having with your particular well, as all are unique. Maybe a sand or sediment filter before equipment, an iron unit or something to fix PH problems, then a softener and maybe a UV system or RO system for drinking. If you want to send us a water sample or do a water test first and give us specs like how many people in the home and flow rate needed then we could best help you with a water treatment plan. Thank you for asking!
Mine didn't come with the pipes to attach to the water pipes and the power wire does not reach any sockets. How can I extend the wire?
What is the white plastic connector being used in the video to connect the drain line to the copper drain pipe? I just ordered my system from you (through Amazon) and want to have everything ready in hand to install as soon as it arrives.
That's a John Guest push to fit ½” x 5/8” fitting. Unfortunately, we don't sell this fitting yet.
@@602abcWATER would you happen to know where to find this fitting? Thank you.
During the brine draw cycle system is pumping the water in to brine tank instead of sucking brine solution in. What should I do to fix this?
where you able to fix/figure this out? wanted to check if i should buy this system or not but your comment is making me think twice.
I used this video for my system that came with shitty instructions (from another company) thank you for yhis
My water loop end up been a 1 1/4 inch instead of 1 inch. Please let me know what my options will be?
Steve
You would need to either purchase a reducing fitting 1 1/4" to 1" or the Elite high flow softener can come with 1 1/4" adapters.
If you have larger water lines, we recommend our high flow systems. You can find them on our website: 602abcwater.com/collections/water-softeners-1/products/abcwaters-elite-high-flow-1-48k-water-softener-system-with-digital-touch-screen
Here's an install video for our high flow applications. ua-cam.com/video/eS13Xb8wb18/v-deo.html
What are you using to lube the O'Rings - Thanks.
I’m not sure what they’re using, but I personally used vegetable oil. The instructions that came with my Fleck suggested using cooking oil.
@@arichman35 Thanks
Does the bypass come with the unit?
The bypass came with my unit from ABCWaters that I ordered on Amazon. The things that are NOT included are:
1) The threaded sharkbite connectors to hook to uyour plumbing as shown in the video.
+Anduril Thanks for the reply, so how is the water, notice a big difference?
Haven't fully moved in, so can't comment on the water quality yet, lol! It's a new build and we opted to install our own water softener as opposed to paying the contractor $5K for the job.
I'd like to purchase your softener because it looks pretty simple to install myself. I'm just a little lost as to what else I'll need to buy?
My water in / out pipes are 3/4" PVC, and the space is extremely cramped so the softener and tank will need to be about 3-4 feet away from these connections. Here are my questions:
- You advertise a 1" connector to the yoke, does that mean I'll need a special adapter to connect to my PVC pipes?
- Since I need to place the softener a couple feet away (the water heater is right by the pipes and leaves no room), what is the best way to extend the incoming water lines to my house I have to reach the softener? Can I buy a longer flex pipe or a different kind of pipe all together that could extend to the softener and what kind of adapters will I need?
-the drain in the utility closet is also a couple feet away, can I just lead the drain hose you provide and place it over the drain or is that stupid?
Sorry if I sound like an amatuer, (I am one). Thank you!
Sorry for the late reply. I'll have answer for you tomorrow. Please feel free to contact us by email, phone or by text in the future. Email: support@602abcWATER.com Phone: 602.222.9283 Texting Questions: 602.321.0145
Do you need to do anything with the water heater?
The water softener should be installed prior to the water heater. No need to do anything to the water heater.
I don't know which video to follow. Some say don't use some of the parts that it came with. Should have bought some GE from home depot instead.
I will be replacing my current softener that is currently connected with PVC instead of copper. Can I connect my new softner with PVC instead of copper?
The stainless steel flex line water connectors shown in the video are compatible with CPVC. You can find them here: 602abcwater.com/collections/flex-line/products/pair-of-18-stainless-steel-female-to-sharkbite-flex-lines-perfect-for-loop-install
How much salt do you add?
at 5:57 & 6:08, why is there two different steps? one connection is on the flat side and the other on the corner?
There are similar systems, like the standard and space saver softeners, that have slightly different tank dimensions. There's no difference other than placement and connection type to the brine line. We showed the 2 steps to assure all our customers can relate to at least one version. Sorry for the confusion.
what about a pressure tank? Does it need one?
Ive noticed you have copper pipes, we have PVC pipes. Will this unit work with PVC pipes as well?
I live in Florida on a well, Can the unit be kept outside? That's where my old unit is at now.
Yes
I don't have the 3 pipes coming down...just 1 long pipe into the water heater...so how do I start installing?!!! Please help :(
It sounds like you do not have a loop installed in your home. You can call our Technical Support at 602.222.9283 to help you with this.
fleck 5600sxt do i need CARBON media in bottom of tank? or only RESIN, for replacment of existing media...city water, no iron, no chlorine smell..thanks
For water softening applications you only need resin.
Keep in mind they make a 5600sxt in both a water softener and a backwashing filter. If you are rebedding a water softener, we recommend replacing the resin and distributor tube (with basket). Here are some kits: www.amazon.com/dp/B0752VWJT3
What type of lube was used? I bought this softener from Amazon and it did not come with lube.
Silicon lubricant.
I also received mine with no lubricant. Sort of disappointing when you pay hundreds of dollars and everything is not included.
I’m dancin while I make these connections yo
I have this softener, but it did not come with power supply for the controller. Can anyone send me the voltage, amperage power needed to run this. Thanks
what kind of tape do you use to sand the copper pipes with?
We use emery cloth.

Is this a turbine system or a paddle system?
1" flex pipe is hard to find.

Can potassium be used in the system instead of salt?
Yes
602abcWATER Thanks!
I don't know why so many instructional videos Play some dorky background music instead of a voiceover explaining the subtle details of what they are doing.
What is name of song starting at 4:35??????
Why is the drain line connecting to a hard copper line at 4:40 ???
We use a push-to-connect fitting. We just ran our drain line out through the copper. You just need rigid tubing. Yes, the 1/2" copper is the drain line. The home's water pressure provides the ability to run drain lines vertically up walls. We recommend avoiding anything greater than 20' vertical runs. The maximum length of a drain should be less than 50'. If you need to run a drain line longer than 50', you will need to increase the drain line diameter to 3/4" beyond the 50' mark. Text us at 602.321.0145 with your questions.

We preload 48,000 grain and smaller with resin
What does the tank weigh with the beads loaded? I am in the planning stage of installation of a softener but I am working alone.
The mineral tank weighs about 100 lbs when we load 1.5 cu ft of resin media
What does the tank alone weigh?
how long does this softener last
It could last decades depending on your water condition, and how you protect your water softener resin. If you are on city water, there is chlorine present. Chlorine destroys resin over time. We've heard resin lasting 3 to 5 years before needing to change it. Adding a carbon filter will remove the chlorine prior to entering the water softener. We recommend pairing a water softener with an upflow carbon filtration system - 602abcwater.com/collections/water-softeners-carbon-tank/products/copy-of-abcwaters-built-fleck-5600sxt-64-000-grain-w-2-cu-ft-upflow-carbon-tank

the funny thing is that most homes don't have a loop. Only newer model homes.
I have a loop but no drain... I guess I'll run it up and over through the attic but a drain that goes straight up seems wrong.

Oh no another silent movie night!

The unit should sit flush to the wall. This is a bad design. Very small changes would fix it. Space saving should always be considered.
Gene, they do make an optional elbow that puts the bypass vertical so you can get it closer to the wall.
I think instead of this elevator music some talking can be done.
Anytime you see black tanks you know you are buying the cheap entry level stuff... shameful
Really why is that??
@@michaeldotson658 Because they purposely make them so that you can not check the lifting of the mineral bed by using a light behind the tank. This means you can't diagnose it. That means the dealer can charge you an expensive service call to come out in person and fix it. A blue or black tank it is what knowledgeable industry experts call Slick Willy Tanks.
