The first scientific biography by Heike Görtmaker seeks to revise the image of the blond and apolitical dummy by the Führer’s side. According to the biographer, behind Braun’s exaggerated happiness was a woman who was extremely resolute and strove with incredible toughness to reach her goals - through to the last resort: death. For this documentary, author Michael Kloft engaged in detailed discussions with Heike Görtmaker and evaluated the extensive number of private films made by Eva Braun and the countless photo albums she compiled.

There are a lot of people out there who enjoy life without asking too much questions they don't want to be bothered with. In time of peace, it's alright, in time of war, it's just sad.

I think we are short-changing ourselves, and especially future generations, when we become incapable of researching things honestly and objectively. By research, I don't mean simply viewing documentaries, or even books, that were compiled and produced by the perceived victims(or their co-ethnics) of the subject in question. We lazily allow groups with vested interests to shape our "known history" into something which often resembles nothing of the truth. Understanding history is vitally important, in terms of directing our future. I don't have any opinions on the topic of this documentary, but I sigh at how German Shepard hips have developed in the past 80 years. The square hips of the pup in the thumbnail probably have a lower rate of hip displacia than those sloping hips of today. Poor puppies who have to conform to an artificial standard of canine beauty.

    • @Jerseyboondocks

We had a German Shepherd who developed hip dysplasia and it was heartbreaking. And it's all because of this breeding. We even bought him a wheelchair for dogs and it's still didn't help. We did everything we could until he had to be put down because of the pain from it. He was on pain medications but after a while there was no quality of life. He was only 9 years old. Our other German shepherds usually live till around 12 or 13.. and another female one we had was starting to show signs of the hip dysplasia, but she passed from something else before she suffered the full effects of it.
