- Our good friend Sascha showed us how to find edible pine mushrooms in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. We had fun!
**THERE ARE MANY DANGEROUS AND FATAL MUSHROOMS IN THE WILD**
If you are even just a tiny bit unsure if a mushroom is edible or not, then don't eat it. It's not worth the risk so please be careful out there and do your homework first :)
Lactarius deliciosus, commonly known as the saffron milk cap and red pine mushroom, is one of the best known members of the large milk-cap genus Lactarius in the order Russulales.

Does anything similar in NZ . ?
I am aware of at least one form of native oyster shrooms . I've seen some which appear like Shiitake, and there's a couple of large white fruitng bodies - both are about the size of à side plate , they peel ! One has hills going up to the cap , the others gills go down to the stem . There's also a golden fleshy one , that's similar to sponge under the cap , I've often wondered if these are eadible , as there's what's refered to as " mouse ears" an oapque, cop structure , with a velvety appearence ;. There may also be what the chinese call black fungus here also , for forrageing .
I imagine there are many similar if not the same shrooms in NZ given our similar climates. I would suggest hitting up some local forums to get better acquainted with the local environment.
@@ChooRoo I've just started to look for places near by which can identify them .
Thank you for your response .

Are there any poisonous lookalikes?
Not that I am aware of. They are super distinctive. But the rule I stick to is if you are not 110% sure, don't eat it.
Saffron milk cap has one poisonous look alike
Which is a woolly milk cap,
Instead of a carrot, pumpkin coloured gills, it is white gills
And instead of orange milk it has orange mik
