Planting New Boxwoods, Trimming Hellebores & Tending Fruit Trees | Getting ready for spring

- Опубліковано 3 кві 2024
- We've had a bit of an early start to spring, so I decided it was time to put some new boxwood in my front flowerbed. The hellebores also began to have some new growth, so I'm cutting off whatever needs to be removed before spring really hits. Finally, the fruit trees needed to be sprayed to ward off anything harmful. Let's get ready for spring!

From my farm to your home. 🏡
My name is Kaleb Wyse and here, you will find delicious recipes, videos from my farm, garden, and fun home projects. My knowledge has been earned from years of home cooks and farmers in my family. wyseguide.com
A farm is much more than a house to live in; it’s a lifestyle. My passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with my mom in our expansive farm yard, my love for baking came from innumerable short walks to my grandma’s house to make cookies, and as a farmer, my dad taught me that we are the stewards of our land.
So whether you live in a city center or have decided rural life is for you, I hope to inspire you with the projects and recipes I use in daily life. We can’t all live on a farm, but we all need farms in our lives. From the dirt in my vegetable garden to the flour in my kitchen, I’ll show you everything I love to do. - Навчання та стиль
Love how you are thinking “organically” vs. “chemically”. God bless your hard work to nurture the earth.
I love seeing the whole process from start to finish! Especially this year for me since I’m not able to put my garden in this year as I broke both my fibulas and I’m completely non weight bearing and in a wheelchair for a minimum of 12 weeks. Then I have PT to get my strength and flexibility back. I’m living my gardening life vicariously through all my favorite UA-cam creators until I can get my hands back in the dirt again. 😊
Sorry for injury! I also broke both ankles 6 years ago and i know exactly how you are feeling! Wishing you the best healing possible. 🙏🙏
Caleb, I love watching you do beginnings to ends cause I learn so much that way!
I personally am really grateful for all the garden videos that you give us. I have learned a lot about process, timing and products. Thank you ❤
The cleanup on the hellebores was exactly what I needed to see. I recently trimmed back mine. I removed the brown and left the flopped over green growth. I left it - because I thought if it's green it should stay. I will now get back at it and remove the flopped green stems. So, thank you!
Morning Kaleb. The video was very interesting, as usual. I really liked the boxwood tips. Last year I planted 2. One died very soon after. The other one is doing great. Survived our NE Arkansas crazy weather. It survived hot, humid, wind and the little snow we get. The rusty color is very little, so she is doing great. Thank you for the tips and showing us your home. It is beautiful.
Love the fact that you just take things as you can. Gardening should not be stressful. Happy Spring from Central Indiana.
Thank you for sharing this. I'm going to check on the organic oil for my lilac bushes.
Please don't stop sharing all things gardening.
Thankyou kaleb for sharing your passion your videos are wonderful to watch and so is kip you’re a wonderful human being kaleb ❤️😊
Thank you so much, very helpful. Love seeing your farm! Anything you want to show is great! 😊
Hi Kaleb! Everything is so pretty now, and once greens up….omg….your property is just beautiful. I enjoy watching 😀♥️
Kaleb you are genuine and explain all gardening with such ease ! Have you been an educator ?? Love the entire process dont you love watching gardeners garden??
I love seeing the processes start to finish! Helps me learn. Your orchard is one of my favorite parts of your yard, it reminds me of the orchard in the book O Pioneers.
I'm enjoying watching you. I love yard work but at 73 i have physical limitations that prohibit doing these things. I live through watching you and other you tubers like Garden Answer and Acre Homestead. Thank you guys for making my life a bit more enjoyable. ❤❤❤
Love the process! Thanks Kaleb.
Can you tell us about that post in your fruit tree orchard? I know that has to have a story! My husband and I love what you’ve done with the home and how you preserved the authentic elements!!!
This information is invaluable as I am fairly clueless! I've always wanted to put in a few fruit trees and am now realizing the commitment. . .
Thanks for the reminder about spraying. I have to go take care of my lilacs and roses. Always enjoy your gardening videos!
Greetings from Western Washington! I enjoy watching the whole process (from design to implementation to maintenance) as I find it is helpful to see different perspectives to gardening.
Love seeing your common sense in all things you do, really enjoy your videos, especially when you can include your family, such great values. Thanks
The Hellebore cleanup was the best for me, personally. I don't have boxwood or fruit trees, so that's not a thing! I have a couple lilacs though, and need to look at them a little closer.
Hi,I really enjoy your videos, there always informative and fun I learn something new. Thank You!!!!
Love watching excited about new gardening season❤❤❤
Love your videos. I learned a lot from this one! Thank you! My grandparents used to have peach and cherry trees 🥰; my other grandparents had an apple tree 🥰. However, none of this care went into them!
The best time to spray scale is when the crawlers are active so you can actually get the insect and not just the hard shell. Where I live in NW Indiana that's some time in May. Hope this may help you.
Great video, I had boxwoods at my last house and I never knew the difference between the tips and the browning. Thanks for that, great info. Have a great day with Kip too!! 🥰
I love your videos. It's great seeing what you're doing and of course, love seeing Kip too!
I am new to hellebores and appreciate your advice about cutting back the spent leaves. ALso my boxwoods have the bronze leaves and I thought I had to cut them back, but thanks to your advice I will leave them alone !!! I am in MA. zone 6 so am a bit behind you in getting out there!!Love your recipes TOO !
How wonderful the first GARDENING video of the year! I have learned alot from you since I found your channel. Last year I bought and used zespoma soils and the plant tone items and had very good results so thank you.😊
Would have been nice to see a quick overview of the boxwood area w the addition of the new plants. What was your vision/ goal?
Love to learn about what gardeners do when things don't go according to plan or when the result doesn't match expectations.
Kaleb, will you have 17 yr cicadas emerging next month?? They will certainly LOVE the young tips on your fruit tree branches. Rather than being upset about them here in NE Illinois, we refer to them as Natural Pruners!
I enjoy your cooking segments, but l won't lie, l prefer the renovation and gardening part the most. I like the cooking segments in winter because it's good to be indoors when it's cold and unbearable.
Looking forward to all the garden videos this year!
Love seeing how you spray. I have 5 boxwoods that are damaged by leafminers. So, ive begun spraying them multiple times in the summer. I wear a mask because its so stinky. 😂
Perfect timing for this video! I had 2 boxwoods that did not survive the cold here in Illinois. I need to replace them and this was very helpful!
We love everything you show us and learn so much from every video 😊
Thanks Kaleb. I am in southern Wisconsin…same zone as your garden and I truly value the information you share. Happy spring …snowing here today 😏
I love your videos. I always learn something. We could be friends for sure. Happy Weekend!
I learned so much! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us 😊
Your videos are sooo helpful! Thank you 😊
I love all your video can't wait to see your vegetable garden ❤😊
Thank you for sharing! It’s great to see you out planting and caring for your gardens. Your place is looking beautiful first starting to wake up to the spring weather. Excited to see more and learn more.
That black fountain/trough looks like a coffin. That's one heck of a lot of -tones for one plant.
Great informative video
Great video Kaleb! Very informative. I'm a new gardener and always enjoy your tips. Although I enjoy the mid summer videos that show all of the beautiful blooms, I also really enjoy these early spring and late fall/early winter videos as well.
Hi Kaleb. I'm abt 30 miles south of you. Thanks for the reminder that I need to get out there and spray my fruit trees and such.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm just starting to plant a few trees. I planted green emerald arborvitae and Hollie Stevens and seeing that you used plant and bio tone helped me. Because I didn't do that. I did plant them a bit above ground. One more thing I forgot to mention is the winter burn. I have bushes in the front that I didn't plant. I thought those bushes were dead. So yay, they're alive lol
I have peach trees that flower and set fruit each year but the fruit dries and falls off.
Hi Kaleb, I’m zone 5B I’m in Newfoundland. I’m wondering if I can use dormant oil on my lilacs. Every year after they bloom the leaves get brown spots on them from the little worm that boars into the plant.
3:30 what about solar panel fountains?
Please, come get some Ohio rain!
Is it safe to have Kip out there while you spray.
do you leave seed pods on your helebores, do you want them to reseed?
What type of boxwood did you plant?
