Linda I made this for Thanksgiving for my son who loves anything pumpkin. He had to fight his Daddy to get any. My husband like you has never cared for pumpkin but this recipe won him over. Thanks for spending so much of your time giving us great recipes. Much love and blessings to you and Sam.
I followed along with you & made me two of them.I’m baking one at a time.except I made one mistake , iforgot the salt I one! Shoot.but it sure smells and looks great it’s still cooking.Thank you .I can’t wait to try it!!❤️❤️☑️😋💝💕😍
I realize this is an older video but I just saw it. My youngest son who is 38 today loves pumpkin anything. Believe it or not we're camping Thanksgiving week so I will be cooking in the camper and outside. I think I've lost my mind agreeing to this. No really I'm looking forward to being with our family. Sam I know you couldn't resist I think it's a man thing. Much love sent your way for the holidays.
Thank you for this recipe. I'm going to make it tonight. I have pumpkin puree I made from our Halloween pumpkins. Nothing jack no lanterns. I cooked them down and pureed. I hope it will work out.
Hands that cook hi hello Thank you all so much for sharing . Ever since I seen your video recipe I been making this I make it 1nce or sometimes 2wice a month I loveee it that much .Thank you Greetings to you from Dallas Tx
Hello vazquezs420, I'm glad you've enjoyed this cake so much! It is a very good recipe. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. God Bless, Linda
Why in the world am I binge-watching delicious cooking videos when I'm recuperating from the flu and can't eat yet? Haha. Glad I saw this one though and you have me convinced to make this for the holidays. I'd seen pumpkin dump cake recipes similar to this before but never made it thinking it would come out with that layer of powdery cake mix. One little change I'll make is to stir some cinnamon into the yellow cake mix before sprinkling it on...as far as I'm concerned you can never have too much cinnamon. I might even make this with a gluten free cake mix so my daughter with Celiac can enjoy it too. So glad you shared this recipe! That little mouse of yours is trouble but he's cute as can be.
My mom & I love your cooking & baking. We love when you bake & talk to Sam in background. It is so authentic and funny. Its like we are chatting at your table. Do you have a cookbook? Please keep vlogging.
Hi Lady! Sorry I don't have a cookbook to share....maybe someday. I'm glad you and your mom enjoy my channel. I hope you continue to enjoy it. TFW God bless!
LOLOLOLOL!!! I love it! A little mouse huh? I think I know who the culprit was! HAAAA!! I love ANYTHING pumpkin and pumpkin spices! I'm surprised you don't like pumpkin seeing as you love squash so much! This is like a cross between pumpkin pie (my favorite) and a cake. LOVE nuts, and the topping looks SO good! I want to try this, nut add some allspice, cloves, etc. And I think it would be just as good with just whipped cream on top!
Most pumpkin pies are over spiced and have too much nutmeg...that's what turns me off. I like this recipe because it contains only cinnamon and I love cinnamon. I would probably like a properly spiced pumpkin pie, but then, I've yet to try one!
Yes, true - some people over spice them. A PINCH of nutmeg is all that is needed. And I go easy on the cloves too. I do love allspice tho. LOL About a good teaspoon. I just saw Paula Dean do this as well. I'm definitely gonna do this! However, here in Malta, we do not have canned pumpkin puree. So I have to buy a slab, roast it, and puree it. A labour of love! LOL
I started laughing so hard when you showed the cake with a piece out of it. I can't imagine who that could of been? LOL! Surely wasn't someone that is to watch his sugar intake. Sam! I was having a real bad start to my weekend with new roommates but this pulled me out of a bad mood. Thanks to you. I know it's an older video but I enjoy watching the videos. This did bring back my nightmare dump cake disaster from someone else video when I seen you pour the cake mix on top. But this seems so much easier. Thanks for the recipe and the laughs. Have a good night. 😀
Becky, I know the exact video you're talking about! I left the cake on the counter to cool and when I came back Sam had eaten a piece of it. I didn't have a choice but to finish the video... He just can't help himself...he never grew up. I bought some Flintstone bandaids for the kids so I'd have them if they ever got a boo-boo.....Sam found them and used them ALL. Can you imagine? A grown man (supposedly) using the entire box of Flintstone bandaids AND, he denied it...now who else could it have been when there's only two of us here?? I could go on and on but I think you've heard enough! LOL! TFW God Bless, Linda I'm going to check...I think it was this video!!
I noticed that you said 1 stick of butter but the written recipe says 2 sticks. Two sounds better to me!!!! This looks delicious. Yours is my new favorite cooking channel. Thanks so much!!!
Hi Fran! I had to watch the video to actually see what I did....there was NOT 2 sticks of melted butter in the measuring cup. When I drizzled it on, it seemed skimpy....my feeling is you can use either 1 OR 2 sticks of melted butter on top....your choice. The pumpkin underneath the top cake part nor the cake part suffered from just using 1 stick of butter but if you choose to use 2 sticks, it won't hurt it. I hope this helps!!! TFW and catching that! God Bless, Linda
Hello again Linda! You won me over when you said "I don't like pumpkin"! I too DESPISE the taste of pumpkin. Every Thanksgiving everyone wants me to make pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread, etc., and I just cannot stand either one! So, when I saw you make this and heard you say you didn't like pumpkin either, I knew that just maybe I have found something I can enjoy as well! Just one question though, since it is so moist and everything does it have a strong pumpkin flavor? It looks like it would with all that pumpkin in it. It looks so delicious, but the pumpkin part has me a little nervous. But seeing that you are not a fan either and you say it's delicious, I gotta trust you! Thanks again and take care...Tina
Hey Sue! I've never frozen it but I suspect it can be without the topping. Almost everything can be frozen...IMHO, lol!! Give it a try and let me know. I don't like pumpkin but I love this dessert. TFW God Bless, Linda
Hi Linda thank you for the wonderful recipe it looks good and I’m like you I’m not a big fan of pumpkin but I do want to try this recipe. I was wanting to know do you think a 13 by 9 inch Teflon pan will work just as well as the glass pan?
Love you're recipes i have a question in the recipe it calls for 2sticks of butter but the video says 1stick melted butter would you let me know which is correct
Hi Monica, you can make the sub for the butter BUT anytime you sub the butter your dish suffers acute anemia, lol....the taste of the dish will not be the same....sorry. I NEVER use margarine. You should consider giving it up for butter. Good luck!! TFW and commenting!! God Bless, Linda
@@gypsytreasures3856 Gypsy, after over 9,000 views, YOU are the only complaint. I don't believe the tv is the problem...the problem is you. The remark simply isn't necessary. TFW God Bless, Linda
So if you hate Pumpkin and P'kin. Pie Spice, did you try this cake at a friends the first time? I know there's more than just Cinnamon in that Spice, but I can't see you reading a recipe like this and wanting to try it. I howled laughing (so sorry) at Sam's sneak attack on your cake. 😂
My daughter brought it for thanksgiving one year and I took a small piece (knowing I wouldn't like it)......but I did like it and the rest is history....that Sam! I just can't control him when there's food involved.
Yes, I got that I just thought, you know, if you'd got a recipe that said P.Pie Spice, you would use just Cinnamon as it's the only component you like. Do you have to make Pumpkin Pie for the rest of the family anyway at Thanksgiving? Or is it (like our house was growing up) .."If Momma don't like it - Momma don't make it" 😃
Looks good! I think I’ll try this for Thanksgiving this year.
