Is 2006 really nearly 16 years ago….that’s insane! So much has changed, I miss those days I was 17 and i used to get the Thameslink to North London if I wanted Camden but could be bothered with the tube, I lovedc the 319s I hope they find their way back to the South someday, great video 😃😃
Certain sounds I wish could be brought back. The announcements for a start. Such a clear, full, proper voice. The announcement chime too. And of course, the electric hum of the class 319s that started before the rise in pitch from below as it took off. Although, trains have to be replaced, but the announcements I wish could be brought back
Now this taking it back😌 And how i miss the sound it made when an announcement was coming through, they slyly done away with that, disappeared under our noses
These were decent trains, far better than the junk that runs the Bedford-Brighton line nowadays. Coupled with the fact that the station announcements were so much clearer and crisper back then seems to prove that we have gone backwards as a nation.
319459 - converted to 769959 which was rejected by gwr in december 2022 and is currently in storage at reading depot 319374 - operated with northern until it was scrapped in may 2022 319432 - converted to 769932 which was rejected by gwr in december 2022 and is currently in storage at long marston
It's really not needed, King's Cross Thameslink was shut for being a pokey little old thing that couldn't handle passenger demand, it would just add an unnecessary extra stop slowing yhe Thameslink route down. St Pancras Thameslink is doing an adequate job
Trying to revamp the station would have been really disruptive to the subsurface tube lines and they didn't have enough space to make it less pokey, overcrowded and to extend the platforms to fit 12 carriages, it was easier to just build a new station, and if you look out the window on a Thameslink train between St Pancras and Farringdon, you can see the place frozen in time

Now I'm starting to feel old
@Liam Moore I wish they’d go to south eastern
@@BPMR me too!
@@BPMR Meanwhile I fell young because I was born just after this station closed.
When I lived in Bedfordshire this was part of my journeys home to Salisbury

King’s Cross Thameslink today looks like a massive rundown and the walls were rotting
I used to get off at this station every year when I was younger and went to great Ormand Street hospital
Now this taking it back😌

Chiltern, Northern and london overground(norwood junction to west croydon) still has the ditra chimes
@@AzureOtsu GWR also has it on some sections.

Either they were clearer, or your hearing has gone downhill recently😂 I worked for public address company- it’s clearer recently for sure
the 700 is better than these ugly 319 trains
great video BPMR
Love this video. I miss the 319's
Thank you

Is it the interference with the Signals problem? I hope it can be resolved.
Great video. ☺
Edit: I wish they responded the station again to ease congestion

Maybe I can buy it
@@grassytramtracks Except you have to walk 10 miles to get to the platforms from Euston Road
Such a shame that King’s Cross Thameslink station was closed to be replaced by St. Pancras International and the Class 319 replaced by the Class 700.
I wish they kept the Announcement fanfare or jingle
It's back to Kings cross. But this time it is using the ECML terminus
They could've actually kept Kings X Thameslink and just refurbish the station

Thameslink Class 319
One of the pokiest stations so-called serving a major terminus in London.
At least it's not sharing with the metropolitan line like it originally was
