William Bendix who played Babe Ruth in the Babe Ruth Story was a batboy for the Yankees in the 1920's. However he was fired when he was asked by Babe to buy him Hot dogs and soda pop. Bendix did, and Ruth got sick and could not play so Bendix was fired. So much for a Life of Riley
