Great Vlog Gary and nice images - love the light and colour 👍 Fully understand your thoughts about future vlogs - hope you and your family stay safe and well.
That was nice its a lovely time of the year to take pictures I have been out several times now but only local, because of the situation we find ourselves in, and the old saying is if you cant get a decent picture in your own back yard its pointless travelling further afield, you got some lovely images and they were a pleasure to see, thank you for sharing them with us!
Gary, I fully understand the various constraints on your shooting but don't forget the sanity it brings........as for the shots, while the colour clog of the cabin was running, I would have given up on it though the B&W rendition ended up OK. Like the shot at 10:50 - the leaves held in the upper part of the main tree just added an unexpected splash of colour which could of been a distraction but ended up great. I agree the 13:05 (triptych) is good - like mosts good things, it is the simplicity and lack of clutter that make this a good shot. Thanks for vlogging......Mark
Love your vision for the third shot, accompanied by one of my favourite pieces of music. The fact you even contemplated adding a log is concerning though 😳😳👍😬
Really enjoyed your recent Vlog. You managed to get some really beautiful light I really like your shot of the old log cabin the filter you have used really makes the image come to life. What I really hate is people scribing their initials on barks of trees. Keep safe and well, Matey.
That final image is my favourite Gary. I always enjoy your vlogs and look forward to the next one, but you’re absolutely right, staying safe in these crazy times is far more important 👍
"It's name that tune" ? Mr Griff will remember that TV programme. I feel better having watched this video because now I know I am not the only one with woodlands with brambles, stinging & ivy everywhere. I watch some of the well known woodland photographers on You Tube with wonderful woodland floors to compliment the trees & foliage. Not been able to find one yet. I will keep looking. Keep safe.
Gary hope you don’t mind but wanted to comment on quality of your vlog. I thought the majority of b roll was fantastic! I thought it was slightly under exposed but that added to the mood and sumptuous colour. But the pieces to camera let it down as I felt they didn’t share the same feeling colour or exposure wise. Edit was great just the feel between the two elements. I enjoy the Pub cast and think you hold it all together and do a great job. My memory isn’t too good these days and enjoy watching it on UA-cam and then listen again via a podcast whilst in the garden. Makes me chuckle. Darren and yourself inspired me during the early days of lockdown with your bird photography and thought your bird portraits as you put it were great! Perhaps you could revisit that genre when the mood takes? Stay safe and look forward to your next vlog whenever that may be.
Thanks Donald, and I completely take on board your comments. I agree that the a-roll can sometimes look a bit 'flat' and I will try and address that in the future. I am hoping to create some more back garden bird videos in the near future too :-)
I think your triptych image was very successful - loved it. Woodland photography is all about simplification of a complex situation and that is really difficult. The triptych really worked.
A nice relaxing watch whilst having my mid morning cuppa. Cracking images and I quite liked the toning on the shed, sorry, log cabin :) Really like the processing on the highlighting leaves shot at 13:08 - good previs on the scene Gary. Loved the last image too, right up my street. Just a view on the lockdown situation. We are currently on lockdown in certain boroughs in Sth Wales so that means I can't get over the border in to Powys. I ts a massive rural County that covers 95% of the Brecon Beacons and any spots that I would be looking to do some autumnal shots at this time. What really pisses me off though is that at this time people outside the Welsh jurisdiction can come and visit the waterfalls whilst I can't, a couple of photographers I saw on social media this week are heading for the waterfalls to catch that colour, I'm not a happy bunny I tell u. My mate Bill works for the MOD in Brecon and he got stopped by Police 2 days ago on his way back into the Borough we live in - it's a crazy situation. Atb Alan
It's absolutely mad mate, but at least now you'll be able to visit those places whilst we are locked down and yours has been lifted, so that should give you some comfort ;-)
Fantastic shots as per usual. I spend a morning in the local woods and was surprised how busy it was - social distancing is pretty difficult on single track routes with a ravine on one side! You do right to put your family first in the current climate.
Fabulous images as always, loved the mono of the log cabin and the image at 15:25 and as you were talking about it the tree behind you looked interesting as well. With regards to you vlogging, you do what you gotta do, we’ll be here as and when, take care
I understand about not going out as much. Even though restrictions have been greatly relaxed here in Australia it still doesn't feel right. I have a vlogging outing pencilled in for Friday, we'll see. Liked the cabin shot and the last one, all good but those two are the standouts for me
@@GaryNormanPhoto Yes feels great. Still taking all the precautions but life is pretty much back to normal (mostly). They are quarantining o/s returnees and hopefully there wont be any cases from them that results from contact with them by hotel staff where they are being quarantined,
Looks like a great woodland, its a genre i really find tricky but when you get it right the images can be beautiful , you had some great images in there for me , the favourites were the old oak at 15:36 and the final image with the person walking through the scene at 16:23 , really helped with the sense of scale , lovely images mate. On another note totally understand your thinking on the vlogging front in the current climate especially if you are in a household where someone is in a high risk category , keep safe mate.
So many shots in this I liked mate. Really liked the shot at 15:59 and the oak shot just before that - def worked better taking that tree out in the background. Oh and never believed you anyway! 😉
The beeches haven't really 'gone over' yet. Its the chestnuts and the sycamores that have created the splash of gold. Most of the oaks are still a way off. Unfortunately a couple of days of wind and rain are going to spoil some of it. Still I've got a few in the bag already. Your hobby isn't as important as your family safety so just get out when you can ..... and avoid busy carparks.
What a lovely place to be!! Beautiful photos!!
Indeed it was, although it did get rather busy later on...
I've never been there, it looks amazing. Nice video.
It's a very nice place, so if you ever get the opportunity (especially in Autumn) I'd highly recommend it :-)
The master technician, slow down, relax kick back. That’s my head space sorted for today. Top images my favs 15:32 16:00 🕓 😍👍
Thanks mate, very kind :-)

Very true, and I've been finding more and more local woodlands recently, which is nice :-)
Loved the image at 15:30, enjoying your woodland processing style.
Cheers mate, very kind :-)
The last picture with the person in the center was my favourite
Thanks Julian, I quite liked that one too :-)

Yep, I did think that afterwards!
Really enjoyed your recent Vlog. You managed to get some really beautiful light I really like your shot of the old log cabin the filter you have used really makes the image come to life. What I really hate is people scribing their initials on barks of trees. Keep safe and well, Matey.
Yep it is annoying, but I guess that it's been going on since we started to use markings to communicate so it'll probably always be an issue...
That final image is my favourite Gary. I always enjoy your vlogs and look forward to the next one, but you’re absolutely right, staying safe in these crazy times is far more important 👍

Great vlog Mate and really like the image of the back lit leaves. Thanks for sharing, take care, 👍📸
Cheers mate, hope you are well :-)
That triptych image is stunning and very original. For my money one of the greatest photographs I have seen this year.
Wow, thank you David that's very kind of you to say :-)
Loved the images Gary. Great colors...snow on the ground here already ! Loved what you did with the cabin, Thanks for sharing your part of the world.
I'm not envious of the cold, but perhaps a little envious of the snow ;-)
Lovely images as usual Gary. Stay Safe.
Thanks Peter, very kind of you :-)

Yes, it's always good advice to avoid busy car parks for many reasons! ;-)
