Fun fact, as some comments have mentioned, this Gunpla has inverted its Arm and shoulder joints to have Ball and sockers instead of the peg and holes. It means Kitbashing this Astray is easier with Kits that use shoulders with balls at the ends.
One thing I have to say about this iteration of the HG Astray frames is that the part of the elbow that connects into the polycap in the forearm can break if you're not careful when bending the arms.
@@Rei_doll Well unfortunately the options are either use cement or super glue to reattach the broken part and never move the elbow again, or buy a new kit and be really careful with the arm next time. If neither of those options sound great, then you can always use the broken kit for parts for a custom build.
I won’t lie the minute I gazed my eyes upon this version of the Astray red frame I LOVED it and it makes me wonder what other gundams would look like in inverted colors
Honestly to me, this kit is amazing, I already play it around and... I don't know, to me it's Gold tier, the only very issue that I have is the obvious color separation on the katana that sucks but besides this... The kit in terms of articulation is fantastic, the upgrade on the shoulder is so good, and I haven't articulation issue on my kit.
I have a love/hate relationship with this kit. I did a straight build of this when it came out and within weeks it began to fall apart (super loose everything), I bought a second on and did some top coat before assembly and this one is by far the superior kit...dont get me started on the stickers.
Out of topic: I'm surprised that Bandai has not milked the Astray in real grade for many of its variants. For example, there has not been an Astray Blue Frame and Green Frame. The green frame would've been the easiest since the main weapon is the only difference from the red frame.
This was my first Gundam build! It is now a statue because oh boy did beginner me not understand the important of proper nipping until it was too late and the whole thing began falling apart at the slightest touch. Lots of great lessons learned on this kit!
And yet most Targets don’t have them…my local target sunk all their Gunpla budget in the entry grade America Type RX-78-2. I love patriotic stuff, but not the EG RX-78-2.

I painted mine green. To make it a green Inversion. Did it a dark forest green abs the black a flat black. It came out amazing. I recommend the chrome gundam marker for the sword but don't touch the sword afterwards. Just leave it alone. It will mark up. Wait at least a full week before touching it. This is a great kit to paint up and detail paint and apply decals. It will end up looking like the real grade.
Huh. I didn’t even realize the ARF had peg shoulders. I would’ve figured it had ball and socket shoulders because the older M1 Astray kit had ball and socket shoulders. By the way, I think the M1 Astray is a kit you would like. It does have similar issues with accessory color accuracy and seam lines, and the backpack isn’t a standard Striker pack, but it’s still a fun, relatively simple build befitting of a grunt. Another thing about this kit. If you take the shoulder ball joint pieces and clip off the little pegs, you’ll be able to use them with any arm that uses the peg shoulders by replacing the polycap with the ball joint piece. This can be done without impacting the stability of the shoulders if used with the Red Frame as is. So, yeah, you can take the High Grade Titus arms and slap them on just about anything with that simple mod.
Looks like it's a general release in Taiwan as well. Using silver or chrome as a panel liner on the dark parts is definitely a bit more work but not too much more. Just need a paint pen that's alcohol-based (you can test on runners if you're not sure) and it really does make the details on dark colors pop. I used chrome silver on my BarbieCowa and going to get this as well and do the same. You can also use thinned enamel paint if you top coat beforehand.
it's a model that I will buy myself but I will make sure to do it in full black using the parts of the Blue frame 2nd revise and the red frame for the torso the torso seal the feet and the shield I think it will be more beautiful
actually bought this kit.. i swap the old joint of arf to this inversion one so that I can now kitbash the old astray with this newer shoulder joint... the black and red color especially fit really well, might try topcoating it to gloss to have the black more shine...

This is the first and only kit I have painted so far. I didn't know the parts were gray so I painted it black because I disliked the gray used that much.
I bought this because it's literally a reprint with extra shoulder and backpack attachment points of the red frame with flight unit And the fact that the regular red frame is now costing like $60 this one's just about 30 yeah all I had to do was just repaint and boom. Although I'm not really a fan of the ball in socket option joints for the shoulders I prefer the pin and polycap, I mean that's the reason why I didn't care for the M1 astray and as someone who wants to make custom versions of all the main astray gundam units and the 2 mass production type units technically 3 cause the m1 m1A and the dssd variant i just can't stand the dssd shoulder and hip connection points. But plus side about this unit a bit of paint and boom green frame and Mirage frame just lacking weapons and tri horns respectfully on the latter but still worth the cost and
I guess I was lucky, my target was not putting out any of the A.I. Battlelog model on shelves except for the crimson Gouf at 1 time that I did but picked-up. I did find an Astray at GameStop, so I had to get it. I hope everyone will have better luck finding it or any other kits but I think Big Bad Toy store have some. I think others like Canada Gundam and others are getting a ton so I'm sure they will have some.

I grew up in Minnesota, the American state where Target is based out of, and I'm still kind of surprised they're all over the US these days. As for the kit, it's a shame it's still so sticker-reliant, but the design of the arms is very intriguing. Could you use the arms and legs on a 30 Minute Mission kit? It seems like you might!
For asmodeus I have one quick question to satisfy my curiosity: the side skirting looks similar to that of the Hajiroboshi where it uses the polycaps that have been usually used for shoulders and side skirting on older kits (PC 3 on the poly cap runner). If so, would that mean older style side skirting would be compatible with this kit? For example of what I mean: Gm sniper 2, older blue destiny kits, etc. Also, how finicky is that blade connection to the handle. Looks like its gonna be annoying. As far as the inversion: ball jointed shoulders eh? Might be worth picking up for that alone. Aside from that, looks like it needs a lot of work like per usual.
The blade connection seems like it is a slide connection, so it should be quite sturdy, but the handle is round again, so I think it will flop around... Damn it Bandai

As a battlelogue series collector im definitely gonna get this i really like those hg version hope they dont disappear fast on the net theyre very unique and combine with each battlelogue gundam
Word of warning: This kit seems to use a different size of ball-joint for the head compared to other High Grades. I tried to put its head on the body of an HGUC from 2019 and it wouldn't fit. The Astray seems to use a smaller ball than other kits.
i own this kit and when i built the left arm i saw that it was slightly curved and so it broke, and trying to nock it apart after dropping it i dropped it again and then i broke the standard backpack thing, the part that goes into the back but lower down towards the middle
really didnt notice the Inversion version as P-Bandai.. I see a lot of this kit from local retailers and online shops in my region with fairly decent prices..
he was wrong on the sword it does kinda suck that its one piece but it comes with pretty good stickers you put on the handle so it looks like its made of gold he just didnt put the stickers on and i think the sword looks realy cool with the stickers
The kit looks amazing, but the elbows on mine are loose to the point they can't hold poses, and the back plate on the hands have zero grib strength they fall of after enough time, no matter the pose .
I got a question is the asmoday still it’s original form from the calamity war or is this the redesign for urder hunt don’t know if they actually tell it in the manual. I ask this because it was the same situation with hajiraboshi being a new form of marchosies after the calamity war

Personally I like this color scheme a bit more than the original, it adds more menacing feel to a already menacing mobile suit.
The Astray Noir type of edginess on that black color is fairly attractive.

i have the Origin, Rinascimento and Vual. Asmodeus definitely look very similar with these 3 especially Origin and fit right in like a quadruplets.

What I really like about that BuCue head is that it's actually compatible with the BuCue variants.

This kit is basically just Astray Red Frame Flight Unit with different color schemes and some small improvements.

These kit is a full retail kit here on the Philippines and P-bandai here is so accessible although they don't have a lot of stocks
When I built this I painted the hell out of the scabbard and sword. Its so much better now.

I made mine look super sick by using some metallic markers for some details and some asymmetrical markings
