    I got a trick for the fast and slow type of curve part sir. Just draw a circle, divide it into 4 regions, and then put "PD" on the upper left hand side (Positive area, Decreasing slope) and then "NI" on the upper right (Negative, Increasing), "ND" on the lower left, "PI" on lower right.
    so taking that example at 12:49
    since the area of the shear is Positive and then the slope is decreasing, then it would be "PD" and since PD is at upper left region of the circle the curve would steep then slow 😊😊

    Your explanation of the parabolic curve using the trick of slow to fast contradicts each other. can you check this please and correct the anomaly? I am bit confused!

    the moments on the smile don't follow the right hand rule though. i don't understand why the moment is positive when doing the equilibrium equations but negative when doing bending moments.

    I assumed downward force as negative. but I started the shear force diagram from the free end, and my graph falls below the X-AXIS. Is this right or would I be marked down? the shape and values are exactly the same as Jeffs'

    How did you get 12x6 for the triangle area? Wouldn't it have been 14 x 6 since it was 30 kips high and we subtract the 16 for the rectangle below? I appreciate any clarity

    So the sign convention for moments is the opposite of what it has been all along? That's not confusing or anything... :)

      The sign convention for bending moments is different than the sign convention for moments in general. Jeff talks about the sign convention for bending moments in lesson 57.

    shouldn't be the Moment at A already be in terms of kips only? The ft. unit is cancelled by multiplying the load by 6ft

    i think there is a contradiction in fast and slow stuff in your previous video (lesson 59) and this video. i think curve should have been the other one in this video .

    According to lesson 59:
    small to large change = convex
    large to small change = concave
    Why was it the opposite for this problem when drawing the M graph?

      In the previous lesson, the slope started in the positve direction. But because it starts in negative it gets inversed I believe

    So it was impossible to do
