  • We finally and officially check into Thailand, after sailing from Malaysia, with mixed experiences with regards to anchorages and rough nights without sleep. We get to use our solar powered outdoor oven (GoSun) for some delicious potato wedges and enjoy some authentic Thai street food.

I love your leisurely schedule. I really hope we’re in the same area of the earth some day.

Good to see that GoSun in action I often wondered if they really worked or not. Now I know they do! Having been to Thailand in the past it's deffo on my list for a visit once I leave the UK. Can't wait to see the fun you have there.

Hi guys. Thanks for sharing how you plan your anchorage. What's the name of that pilot book?

I have not seen a samlar in Thailand since I was there in 73 and 74. Then they were propelled by pedal power because they were tricycles. Now they are powered by motor scooters. Interesting.

thanks for the interesting comparison to days gone by... besides renting a scooter for the day, they are still one of the more affordable options of getting around

At 5:35 I see you have your bimini panels up across your stern, which I assume you're using as sunshades, my question is do you find these when up act like an air brake and slow you down? I am thinking of something similar with solar panels on side of frame but was thinking it might act like a sail itself and slow down my 26' boat?

Hi and thanks for watching... I guess at some level, yes it might cause drag and slow you down, but it has not been at all noticeable... all the panels can be rolled up or used depending on where the sun is coming from, so not permanent fixtures. We have two solar panels on top of the bimini so that's also probably a bit of a "brake", again nothing of any concern
