This has been easily one of my favorite videos you ever created. Phil and Freddy were the two golfers that inspired me as a 12 year old kid back in 1992. Anyway just a fantastic video and I really hope to see Phil back on the channel!
I have a funny Phil story….the first time we played, he said to me “its so refreshing to play with you. For my entire career i have been the worst driver of the golf ball on tour, and its nice to finally be able to pass that torch on to you. At least I hit it far and crooked”

I'm a 45 year old plus 1 marker who has watched a lot of youtube golf. These two videos have been the best I have ever seen. It's not the tacky everything is fun taking the mickey like a lot of content out there. This was funny but high quality and what makes it great is Phil's encyclopedia of knowledge and wisdom on all areas of the game. As someone who was a devoted Pelz follower I find Phil's contact amazing as I have read all of Pelz books so I understand what he saying but to watch the best example of it ever is fascinating. Forget playing tournaments, I think this sort of content and the way Phil explains all the intricacies of what he is doing will be his biggest impact on golf. Seriously in 5 years if this is regular content, I can see Phil being the biggest sporting influence on youtube in history. Funny, likeable, great banter and for the older people on youtube someone we can relate to culturally. For us that think like Phil and Bryson in terms of very analytical of the game this is the best thing I could imagine. Way more lessons can be learned from these videos with commentary than watching Phil play in a Major. More of this. It would be great if you could do a series of videos with Padraig Harrington as you both think so deeply about the game.
Everyone loves the minds games, but my favorite part of these videos (Grant / Bryson / Phil) is the "thought process" behind each shot.....just love it guys!
I was a server at your Birdies For The Brave event in Ponte Vedra years ago. You and your wife thanked every worker personally, and in a real, not fake way! It meant more than any tip I could have gotten! I respect veterans more than just about anything or anyone. And I use to rescue and train and rehome dogs as a hobby in Jacksonville. I would have worked that event for free! YOUR ONE GREAT HUMAN BEING SIR! No matter what anyone says lol THANK YOU for doing that for that veterans!!!
Phil won’t see this but I tell this story often because it illustrates what kind of person he is. Probably 13-14 years ago the week of the Players, my girlfriend at the time and now wife was working at a breakfast place in Ponte Vedra and as she arrived for her shift since she was with me she knew golf and saw that The Phil Mickelson was there with an older gentleman waiting to be sat. She said he was one of the nicest people she ever waited on and when they left he left her a fantastic tip and thanked her by name before he left. First class move and forever cemented my opinion of the greatest left handed golfer of all time. If you are ever in southwest Florida let’s play 18!
UA-cam is exactly what the game of golf needed right now. It's a perfect canvas for letting fans watch their favorite pros, and getting to see some of their thought process and real personalities come out. Broadcast coverage of tour events and interviews are often a bit too sterile, so it's refreshing to watch this kind of content. Hope to see a lot more from Phil & his team. Great work so far, looking forward to future videos!
started playing a few weeks ago, played my first 18 with some buddies and shot a 99. Goal is to reach the 80s before the summer. A lot of cold days of practice ahead of me. Glad I stumbled upon this channel and grant's, I cant get enough of it!
Phil! Thanks so much for doing this video with Grant. Your Open win in 2013 was the last golf my dad saw before he passed away within the following days. I was there next to him and when I told him you won, it was the last smile I saw on his face. You will always be our favorite golfer. Thank you for the memories sir! And, thank you for joining the UA-cam golf family.
I've been a Phil fan my whole life. My favorite line by him was "A good shot is when you pull it off, a smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it" Legend!! I want that flag!! :)
That was an exceptional video that I just happened to come across on Grant's channel. Obviously, I came here to watch the back 9 and I have to admit, this was some of the most natural and entertaining content I've watched on UA-cam in a long time. I was smiling ear to ear for both videos and I would absolutely love to see more content with the two of you. We'll done gentleman!
It was hilarious when Phil said "for the first time I feel like I might actually be wearing joggers" but when they they presented a pair for him to look at, I think that's when Grant was living rent free in Phil's head in the final two holes. One of the greatest 1v1 in UA-cam history
Thanks, Phil Mickelson, for being such a great sport and agreeing to play with Grant, who is one of the nicest UA-cam personalities on the internet. As a long time lover of the game (I started playing in the early '60's with my dad. Saw Palmer, Nicklaus, and Champagne Tony Lema play in the Thunderbird Classic in Harrison N.Y.) this was especially entertaining for me. And I know that Grant was thrilled to be playing with one of the greatest golfers of all time.
You've got to love how Phil keeps grant guessing about his suggestions after that first dead flyer comment. Its like a the line between sarcasm and brilliant advice. Love it!
Phil is one of the greatest teachers in golf. I remember he helped me so much with my wedge game when I watched his philosophy on short game. Glad to be part of the channel.
-Pretty sure Phil could roll up to a local muni course, get paired with 3 other 30 handicappers and would be able to have meaningful conversations with all of them AND make them better golfers. Class act and a complete natural in front of the UA-cam camera.
what a treat being able to see this laid back but still competitive side of Phil, and just the ease he slips back and forth with staying mentally dialed into his own game but playful and casual enough to banter and mind-fence with Grant. The level of mutual respect between these two different generations of golf, making everything about the game more accessible and engaging, is awesome to see. My dad is a San Diego native and has always been a huge Phil fan, and I grew up being a fan by proxy and being able to watch the rivalry between him and Tiger during that stretch and share that with my dad is something Ill always look back on with deep fondness.
Watching Phil play and share his thoughts is priceless for us golf fans and players. Grant has a great game and is making watching Utube golf so entertaining and educational. Kudos to both. Need to see some combination of Phil, Grant and the BryanBros! Let’s see a 2 vs 2: Phil/Grant vs George/Wesley. I would pay to see that!
I liked the part when Grant looked up at Phil and said, "I'm having fun again." "Yeah, because I only have fun when I'm playing good". "I struggle with that"... Phil's response.. "I'm getting tight now actually". Too funny.
It's so heartwarming to watch these two adorable, talented golfers, who apparently look alike ( the younger and older version)according to Grant's wife, enjoying their time together. It truly fills the soul. As a 73 year old golfer you have no idea how wonderful this makes me feel. And I ordered the brownies and gummies. Lol. It sounds like I’m going to have a fun time with my purchases. By the way Phil…those. Joggers will be much more flattering on you than those baggy pants you wore for so many years. 😅
I just want to see Phil in Primo joggers at the Open Championship... Go Grant! Two holes into my viewing experience and I gotta say, there is a lot of golf wisdom being imparted unto Grant here. Kudos Phil. Swing mechanics are great, but the mental game and strategy is crucial to playing your best game.
When Phil explained what shot he was about to hit and what he expected the ball to do, and then to watch it do exactly what he said was mind blowing. The fact that Grant got out of his head and pulled off this comeback was legendary! Excited to see more videos like this.
I love the fact that Phil is walking through his mindset for how he approaches each shot. Even giving is insight on each of Grant’s shots. Great work Fellas!!!!
I am so glad you are doing this Phil. Love the UA-camr golfer, but people like you and Bryson, because of your experiences and skill level can bring a dimension that is simply fascinating. Thank you for taking the time.
Awesome to see a legend group up with the best golfer on UA-cam, share his knowledge and show that he cares about the younger generation of golfers. Love the energy, Phil!!!
Phil was so kind to my son and I at Riviera 15 years ago, such a great guy! And Grant is the best UA-camr in the golf realm, bar none. So awesome to have them together for this round, really made my day!
Seeing Phil and other professionals in this setting vs being on tv playing in a tournament gives me a better liking to them seeing them as normal dudes not somebody who is just crazy good at golf on my tv
What a match! The descriptive history of this course by Phil brings back wonderful memories of the greatest weekly golf series, “Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf.” Both these channels are right up there… and the convo is a tremendous bonus. Thanks so much to both of you.
I met Phil at the 1997 US Open at Congressional . He was so gracious to the fans during the Wednesday practice rounds, he had his caddy toting around SOOOOO many golf balls and he was signing them like crazy, making sure every young fan got a ball. Perfect example of how to engage young players!
As a left-handed golfer, this video means that much more to me. Don't get to see a lot of representation on UA-cam, especially at the high-level skill and thinking that Phil brings to the table. Thanks for the collaboration and looking forward to more content :D
This was by FAR my favorite pro vs. UA-camr so far on the internet. Phil is an absolute legend and totally fun with all his games. You can tell how competitive he is yet he's helping and pulling for Grant. Years ago I wasn't the biggest fan of Phil. But after seeing him in long form content where he can be himself I believe now he is a total class act and a solid dude. Well done Grant, you are a class act as always. Amazing what you've accomplished. What a ride!!
Easily the most fun I’ve had watching any UA-cam golf. Phil’s tactics on hole 1 really set this tense stage for the entire two videos and Grant rose to the occasion. Brilliant.
Met Phil at the Masters probably 20 years ago. He was far and away one of the most personable players and really went above and beyond to interact with the crowd. Been a fan ever since.
Phil you are my hero. I absolutely loved watching this episode. I started playing golf just over 3 years ago and boy did it hit me hard. I moved to San Diego California from Portland Oregon on August 15th 2021 and since then I have played over 400 rounds of golf. I'm now 46 years old and I have managed to get my handicap down to 4.3 and just two days ago got my first ace. It was a 181 yard hole, I pulled a 6 iron, hit a cut into a back right pin, it took two small bounces and dropped. I think the only thing that could top that would be to come out to Rancho Santa Fe for a round with you. I don't normally comment on videos but when you said you wanted to invite some regular Joe's to play with you I just had to give you a holler. Love your channel and keep it up. We love seeing this side of you.
This match was great not only for Grant and Phil, but also great for the golfers watching trying to learn and soak up information from one of the greats
So awesome to see you getting into UA-cam. To be able to get yours and Bryson’s golf knowledge in such an open forum is what makes these UA-cam channels so great!
Thanks for joining UA-cam Phil! As a SD native, you’ve always been my favorite golfer and so excited to see one of my bucket list courses, Rancho Santa Fe GC on video as this will probably be the closest I ever get to playing it… Although I am a legitimate 3.1 handicap and I’m ready on call to be on an episode of pro’s vs. schmo’s 🤞 Good luck at the Open and those calves are gonna pop in those joggers!!
That Open Championship flag signed by Phil and Phil's son would look so good on the wall by my practice green!!! Great video. You guys are so entertaining together.

Phil talks to grant before every hole like he’s his dad
100%
You guys have a Gr8 match going!! Let’s go Phil!! Looking forward to more Gr8 content on your channel!!
As a Lefty myself, i grew up glued to Phil's game. Great match and keep flying high!
I'm so glad these golfers are opening up on youtube. It's so fun to watch and learn.
This match was great not only for Grant and Phil, but also great for the golfers watching trying to learn and soak up information from one of the greats
So awesome to see you getting into UA-cam. To be able to get yours and Bryson’s golf knowledge in such an open forum is what makes these UA-cam channels so great!
I've always been a Phil fan and I've definitely become a Grant fan. Thank you both for allowing us to join you two.
Man, so complimentary of each other, loved the content and loved how easy it was to watch! Thanks Phil and Grant
Phil driving up to the 18th green, seen your ball at 3ft “ahhh f***in joggers” 😂😂😂
It was scripted

Thanks for joining UA-cam Phil! As a SD native, you’ve always been my favorite golfer and so excited to see one of my bucket list courses, Rancho Santa Fe GC on video as this will probably be the closest I ever get to playing it… Although I am a legitimate 3.1 handicap and I’m ready on call to be on an episode of pro’s vs. schmo’s 🤞
Good luck at the Open and those calves are gonna pop in those joggers!!
So much fun seeing these two play together!
That Open Championship flag signed by Phil and Phil's son would look so good on the wall by my practice green!!!
Great video. You guys are so entertaining together.
