The Witch of the Woods guides Kratos and Atreus towards the center of the lake where they meet The World Serpent. The World Serpent, speaking a dead language, shifted his body changing the level of the water exposing the Temple of Tyr. At the foot of the mountain they're trying to reach, they meet Broks brother, Sindri. Sindri, also recognizing the axe Kratos carries, agrees to improve upon the axe for him. Receiving the upgrades to the axe, Kratos and Atreus begin climbing the mountain but are quickly stopped by a deep black smoke called Black Breath. The Witch of the Woods meets them at the smoke and directs Kratos to Alfheim to retrieve the Light of Alfheim. Reaching Alfheim, they discover the World has been under seige of war between the Light and Dark Elves. Reaching the middle of Alfheim, Kratos plunges himself within the Light to harness it. Doing so, inexplicably left Atreus alone for hours even though it was just moments for Kratos. Having the Light of Alfheim now, Kratos and Atreus make their way back to Midgard.
