Honestly, comming from a person who lives in Seattle, it doesn't even rain that much. For example this year has been very dry. It's a very underrated city
well lets just say it rains a lot here so people won't want to move up here...no place else i wanna live. ive lived here for 16 years, im from California
Let me tell you something man. It's the same no matter where you live. I lived in LA for 21 years and I was sick and tired of the constant sun. I mean, the "coldest" it gets is low 50's here and that's during winter. Starting in March all the way until about September, it can go over 80 degrees. The sun is constantly burning at your skin and it's just a pain in the ass. I hate the weather in LA. Now I moved to Seattle and I love it here. I love the rain, I love the cloudy atmosphere and I love that the sun doesn't burn my retina every single day. Traffic? Don't like traffic in Seattle? Good luck in LA. Point is, you will love it in LA at first, but then you will get tired of it. It's human nature. After years here in Seattle, I wouldn't be surprised if I started getting tired of the gloomy weather. As for the people? Every city has dicks. I've made plenty of friends here and I made them fast. It just depends on your charisma I guess. I had no such thing as the Seattle freeze. People are very friendly to me here in Seattle. People were friendly to me in LA, but I had several friends in LA who hated LA because they thought people were rude. Good luck man!
Seattle is a good change of scenery. I'm originally from LA. I do eventually want to move back, but what keeps me in Seattle are the wages. They are just way better in Seattle vs LA.
+musingmike88 speaking of can you recommend some places to go for me? Since im new in LA now i have been looking but no idea where to start i live in weho 😀
I have lived in LA for 18 years. The options and resources available to the resident of Los Angeles range from copious to an embarrassment of riches. You must learn to live in LA strategically. Live close to work. Live in a place where there is good air circulation. The weather is wonderful most of the year. It is infinitely more racially and socio-culturally diverse in Los Angeles. The pollution is terrible. It is expensive. Every night you will have a choice of more than 100 things to do. There are pros and cons. Whenever I think about moving, I cannot think of a place I would want to move to.
I lived in LA for 4 months last summer. The weather was amazing! You are never too hot or too cold, little to no humidity (compared to where I'm from), and always sunny. It drizzled for 2 minutes (literally 2 minutes) the entire time that I was there. The problem is this... there are no people walking on the sidewalks. If you want to walk 2 blocks to the nearest Starbucks, you will be the only person walking (with the exception of a few homeless people). I find this to be incredibly off-putting. I like cities that you don't need to have a car or motorcycle to live in, and LA definitely isn't one of these cities. With that said, when you eventually get to the Starbucks (or where ever else you are going) the people that you meet inside are very nice and welcoming. Although I think people pretty much everywhere I go are nice and welcoming, so maybe it's just me... I could never set up a life in LA myself, it's just not the city for me. But that doesn't mean that you wouldn't like it. But that's all I really have to say about the city. Hope that helps! PS: A really great place to eat (if you are in LA again) is Centinella Cafe. It doesn't look like much, but the food is surprisingly good and very affordable.
I live about 30 min east of LA. Luckily I don't need to go into LA more than a handful of times a year, I hate it there. I would much prefer the Pacific Northwest but for the moment I am here working on a graduate degree. Cost of living here is so high, although it may be similar to Seattle so you should check that. Even if you are getting paid 'well' it doesn't go as far when you pay 2,000 in rent a month! There are far too many people here and far too few jobs. I will be leaving as soon as I can. Best of luck with whatever you choose!
In Seattle it rains a lot but in Los Angeles it's hit even during Christmas and it can get very annoying so if you go there and end up getting sick of the heat it will be even harder and expensive to move all the way back. I also think your life is good in Seattle, but if you feel sick of it maybe you can take a road trip down to LA or cali; the heats good for a little while but after that it sucks
as an ex L.A. person, (to smoggy and ghetto) via Alaska (too cold and too rude) we landed in Seattle and this is where we LOVE, LIVE, and LAUGH!! me and my 4 kids 9 Grandkids and 2 Great Grand kids!! lots to see and do in Seattle the Shopping is way too FUN!! there is always somewhere to go out and eat every street has something to offer plus in LA you drive bumper to bumper and add 1 and a half hrs on to going to work or going home for a 20 mile trip...Seattle? You get too know where the places are best to get too!! People are smarter here too!! I dont even go see California i just dont like the atmosphere anymore...
i live in Queen Anne its pretty much close to the heart of Seattle which is the Space Needle.i am from Malaysia and i really love Seattle would definitely live the rest of my life in WA!
LA is to Seattle what Walmart is to Nordstrom. LA is basically a ghetto full of poor folk who hardly speak English and don't have car insurance. Seattle is basically better in every capacity.
+Handsome Harry As someone who lives in LA, that is ridiculous. The big downside to LA is cost of living. The place itself is one of the most amazing cities on the planet.
musingmike88 It really sounds like you don't travel much. Most cities put LA to shame. LA is basically miles upon miles of suburban sprawl. THAT is not a city; that is a wasteland of lifeless suburbs. Go to NYC, Boston, Vancouver B.C., Toronto or SF to see a real city.
***** No it's not. I live in Seattle. 1,400 will rent you a brand new 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment in a really nice, walkable neighborhood close to downtown. In LA, 1,200 will get you the bare minimum in a less great apartment, with most rents being around 1,500-2,000 for a 1 bedroom, especially in a desirable neighborhood. It's cheaper to live in a new apartment in an amazing neighborhood in Seattle than to do the same in LA.
I moved to LA from Seattle 3 years ago and I am considering to move back to Seattle now. But I started missing LA already. LA is an extraordinary place that I could only find New York with the same pace. Learn a lot and experience all the best of financial and business perspective fields. Seattle is more for living and enjoy life as I see.
+Frances Nguyen I see your livability points, in many ways i agreed 4 years ago, however now with the Amazon sector the cost of living is as high as LA.
+Moto XO Not sure that's true. The places in LA that are priced like Seattle are bad areas. Also, WA has no state income tax and the job market in LA is pretty dodgy.
Way late on this, just saw it in my recommended column, but addressing the video as if it was still 2015, if you aren't happy with the weather in Seattle and it's getting to you, maybe you should at least try another place. You can always move back. There's endless debates between LA vs Seattle, LA vs SF, LA vs SD, LA vs NYC and you can find nearly equal people on both sides of each of those. LA is extremely iconic, has a lot going on, and some people love the abundant sun and warm weather (it does get cloudy there and sometimes gets cold during the winter) but others don't. I think the cities likewise attract different types of people as well. LA more extroverts, fame seekers, people who see themselves as "sunny," Seattle more introverts and far fewer people seeking any sort of fame. Personally, I think Seattle better aligns with who I am but I live in NYC now and often think about moving to LA (or SD) during winter, not Seattle, then forget about that as spring arrives and start considering places that also have crappy winters but seem appealing during spring and summer (like Seattle). Another plus for Seattle is the lower taxes. I'm left leaning, not an anti-tax-everything-for-me type person, but the taxes in CA (and NY) are really high, comparable to Europe yet with lower quality cities and benefits. Florida isn't part of my consideration since I spent some time in Florida and thought it was too humid, way too many scary ass storms, swampy, and wild and Texas seems like it may be similar, maybe even hotter, just with a lot less rain.
Hey Moto XO ~ I SO appreciate your videos. Especially right now as I've recently lost a job working as an independent contractor here in San Diego (working from home-renting, living right next to beach for past 5 yrs) and, have considered many times moving back to where I'm born and bred ~ Seattle (I'm a U of W graduate and grew up in West Seattle). Regarding your consideration of moving to LA I, myself, rarely go up there. Been in San Diego over 12 yrs now (5 living in a VERY laid back beach community - gotten to the point where it kinda feels too laid back sometimes..not to mention the transients, all the "rif raf" that comes w/ it, the homeless teens/young adults pan handling, etc etc., Major lack of "courtesy" I would say, has bothered me more than anything w/ people here in many ways) and, I've actually gotten sick and tired of nothing but sun nearly ALL THE TIME and of course, not much in the way of beautiful trees, greenery and foliage that, of course, I miss being from the NWest/Seattle. LA, imo...is fun to visit if I have a designated thing/event I'm going for but, given the massive population and horrible traffic (air quality sucks, too btw) and attitude of a lot of people in that town (So Cal imo, in general...Sorry, I'm just really over SoCal in many ways at this point) I couldn't imagine living there. I've heard that in LA if you can work close to where you .live and therefore, not having to do lots of commuting and getting stuck in gridlock then it could be a lot better in ways for you. It's true about many distinct, different "pockets" of neighborhoods and a lot of diversity, in that respect I guess. Too me though, having THAT many people and THAT kind of traffic, just really rules it out. Also, I've heard from others who live there that even say going to meet up w/ a friend can become a real "task" in that, being that traffic is what it is often times it is a real barrier to being able to socialize regularly w/ people as everyone's so busy, and all in their cars driving home to work and it's "go, go, go". So, that's what I have to say on LA. Obviously, you'd get a TON more sun than in Seattle. Night and day in that regard. Back my thoughts on moving to Seattle I would SOOO appreciate any feedback you can give me as I'm literally in a position now where I am going to have to move not just because of job loss but, I've been wanting to move for past 2 plus yrs and want a place w/ more seasons, more culture, decent cost of living and honestly, "nicer, more down to earth/less flaky type people" (if you need me to explain more on this just email me and I'll give you the 411 on why I'm saying this about SoCal/SD - yes, there are nice people here but........). Btw, I don't know your age but, I'm guessing that I'm likely around same age group as you, fyi. I've been going back and forth about moving back to the "Emerald City". LOVE your videos of going around town and discussing Seattle! Truthfully though, the 2 BIGGEST reasons I'm hesitating are this: 1) Gray weather depresses me ~ Even here in SD when we get "May gray/June gloom" and it persists for several days I can feel my mood change (however, here you know it'll soon enough be sunny and it burns off). *I'm just "bored" w/ this town at this point. Been here..done everything and it's just gotten too "old" in that respect for me. Will I miss the avg 70 degree temps though if/when I move here coming up VERY soon...hell ya I will! Who wouldn't?! But, Life is a tradeoff very often w/ choices we make. 2) My toxic dysfunctional narcissistic family. Yep, you heard me correctly! It's rather personal to share this but, I'm just saying it like it is. Given the way the strained relationships are in my foo (family of origin) and the pressure I feel like I'd feel if I moved back there and just all the "baggage" and painful memories associated w/ that part of the city for me because of this factor, I've refrained from moving back til now.~ I can't say I have many close friends there if I were to move back, because I don't. And, given this...I'm wondering if I, like so many, after being away for nearly 13 years now would feel the "Seattle Freeze" if I were to move back. I'm thinking that I very well might. I really would welcome your opinion on any of the above and if I can be of any help w/ your decision to possibly move down to LA or So Cal in general, feel free to give me a holler. You can email me too, if you'd like and I really look forward to hearing your thoughts! Peace out :) PR
Been to L.A many times with my job, and think it would be crazy to move to L.A. State income tax, everyone telling you, what you can and can't do. Higher cost for marina's if you move your boat, and not to forget WATER SHORTAGE, Pollution, higher crime, the list can go on and on. All I can see as a negative in Seattle is the weather, and that changes. Being from Florida also, I hated the same weather. Rainy season and HOT. I moved to Wisconsin just for a change, and love it, but we are considering a move to Seattle or the area at least. Some people move for a girl, we're moving for a boat. LOL
+Andrew Llera What are you talking about? Seattle's crime rate is 3 times what LA's is. I wouldn't recommend he move here either but crime wouldn't be one of the reasons. It's the lowest it's been since the early 90's
I've both lived and traveled all over the country. But this is all obviously just my humble opinion. There is nowhere else in the states like LA/OC, The weather is perfection, the surfing is worth living here for that alone. There's also the great SoCal culture and food, Dodger games, just a days drive away from places like Utah National Parks, Vegas, Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia Parks. However there are some huge draw backs to living here also. It loses a ton of appeal if you cannot afford to live in a Beach city (excluding most of Long Beach which is actually mosty ghetto) or one of the few nice inland cities. It's hotter, more congested, more crime ridden, and doesn't offer the same experience. What I'm trying to say is that your experience could be radically different between living in somewhere like Huntington Beach vs. living anywhere away from the water. Plus it's a race race trying to afford a decent place to live and deal with all the crowds. There are something like 18 million people living here in LA/OC/San Bernadino and Riverside Counties now. Plus we are running out of water. Btw, I like your video's. Good luck in whatever you decide. Just know that California is known for being unfriendly to business.
Notice how I said "most" of Long Beach. But I'm not sure what you mean by "a lot". Besides Lakewood Village, East of the Airport, Naples, and Belmont Shores/heights it's pretty rough. Just look at the crime rates and median income when compared to neighboring Seal Beach or any other LA/OC Beach city for that matter.
jared your review is spot on - Socal experience is very different depending on your income -- If you live inland its hot and smoggy - the mountains trap the exhaust fumes and you are breathing unhealthy air. The coastal areas are nice if you can afford it. But no matter where you live you cannot escape the traffic, everyday, every hour. Its mind numbing. People plan their days around traffic patterns. I lived along the coast for decades and it always made me laugh to see "postcard" shots of CA. Its coastal living - its overcast much of the time until it burns off in the afternoon. So the idea that it sunny 24 hrs day 365 days a year is a dream at best..
after living in seattle for 20+ years.. basically ever since I was born.. i'm tired of it.. probably because of the weather.. because in the summer seattle is fucking beautiful I admit..
L.A. IS A TOUGH PLACE TO LIVE, EXPENSIVE EVERYWHERE, GOOD NEIGHBORHOODS ARE DWINDLING, INSANELY BAD TRAFFIC AT ALL TIMES OF DAY OR NIGHT, HOMELESS ENOUGH TO FILL A SMALL CITY (90K), VERY CRODWED, FLAKEY PEOPLE. IF YOU CRAVE THE SUN IN ORDER TO STAY HAPPY THEN MAKE SURE YOU TAKE SOMEVACATIONS TO PLACES THAT ARE SUNNY, AZ, CA, NM,HI,, EVEN COLORADO. I WOULDNT GIVE UP A BUSINESS FOR A JOB.
Cool, you're up along 99 huh? I use to ride along your street all the time when I went to the UW Seattle Campus. Where do riders usually hang around at? I'm new and trying to find some other people to ride with time to time
Wait, so you're from Florida- yet somehow ended up on the exact opposite side of the United States? From the southeastern most state, all the way to the Northwestern most state? 🙃
I'm having the same dilemma. Honestly I wouldn't want to live or work in downtown LA because of the traffic but since we ride motorcycles and down there we can lane split, it would make that much less a pain in the ass. I just want the weather. The constant rain and cold sucks.
I want to start off by saying that I love the videos I've watched of yours so far. Thank you for them! BUT, your floridian background must have really given you soft skin towards rain/grey weather. I've lived in Washington my whole life and I can honestly say this has been one of the driest/warmest winters I have ever experienced. I live in Seattle myself and I have been riding this weather to work every day without issue and loving it! (I ride a scooter right now, easing into getting a motorcycle. These motovlogs are feeding my urge to get one...). Good luck on your decision! And if you do decide to move... You ought to make a video talking about the things you DID like about Seattle ;) even if it is just a few!
Moto...always enjoy your vids! I actually have plans to transition to the Great Seattle area. So it's always funny watching your videos because everything you hate about Seattle, I'm actually looking forward to haha! But anyway... I'm originally from Southern California. Grew up all over SoCal, from LA County to Inland Empire to Orange County. I consider Orange County my stomping grounds (it's where I went to high school and came into my own). After High School I moved to Atlanta at 18 years old late 2009. Needed to build a decent portfolio as a filmmaker/photographer and having family up and down the east coast, combined with the fact that Atlanta is a smaller/more manage-able market than Los Angeles--as far as starting out in a creative medium--it made sense. I lived in Atlanta from late 2009. I'm 24 years old now and have recently moved back to Southern California late January 2015. I am currently living in North Hollywood, temporarily living in California prepping myself for the next transition, which will be Seattle. With all that being said, and I'm sure you know this being a frequent traveler/relocator/transplant yourself, when it's time for a change...it's time for a change! And that's how I've approached my transitions. Yeah Atlanta was exactly what I expected it would be, but it served its purpose for the next part of my life. Southern California is great, but I know SoCal like the back of my hand and still have family and life-long friends here, and even though your can't beat the good Cali weather...Seattle still whispers in my ear every night before I go to sleep and is my wake up call every morning lol. So I would say go with your gut, whatever that is. If it's California, go for it! Yeah the traffic may be an annoyance, the culture may take some getting used to, until you find your people...but if you feel like you need to make a change, that feeling is never going to go away, trust me. I think you'll be fine where ever you decide to relocate, just because you seem like someone who knows how to survive regardless of the circumstances. Furthermore, I think SoCal/LA would be a nice move for you to make, just to say that you did it! Even if you grow to dislike LA and decide to transition elsewhere...you can always look back and say, "Well, I did that. It was an experience I had...onto the next experience!" I'm looking forward to moving to Seattle and having that PNW experience. The culture, the vibe, the geography, the weather...it all speaks to me for the way I want to live my life right now. So I'm looking forward to taking the leap soon. Come to LA sir! Don't be miserable-and-comfortable in Seattle. Be uncomfortable-but-curious in LA...To new beginnings!
Ill be moving to Seattle in the upcoming years and hopefully i can land a job in welding or construction in general. Plan on going back to school to get my bachelors degree in construction management. Right now im just focused on getting out of Arkansas and moving to the next chapter.
LA is amazing. The only truly horrible downside is cost of living. I want to own a home. The odds of me doing that in a non-ghetto place is pretty slim. I'm looking into moving out of here after I graduate from UCLA. Seattle is an option, but so is Portland, San Antonio, and Austin.
6 years in LA and its been a good ride, but something is calling me back to the pacific northwest. Great stuff to experience in LA, mainly food and merchandise with some night life and recreation splashed around here and there. Now I would much rather visit LA than live here anymore these days, it has become more populated since I've been here. I understand every city has its up's and downs and due to the LA's size, it has ALLOT of both.
Whatever you do, do not move to California. I have lived here my whole life and love it, but the cons out weight the pros. First of all the weather looks nice on TV, but it usually is hot and muggy, or cold and cloudless. Second, the traffic is a nightmere wherever you are in the state, there seems to be no escape from it, even in rural areas. Third, the taxes and cost of living are through the roof, even in run down neighbor hoods like Oakland or Compton. Fourth, LA is overcrowded and has some of the worst air quality in the world, considering you can't see the skyline from Hollywood on a good day. But there are pros to living here, such as close proximity to fresh food and almost everybody here is extremely friendly. But if it were up to me I would leave here in a heartbeat.
Will McCort As far as weather goes, I have never experienced California weather to be muggy. Central California stretching from Monterey to Santa Barbara is the best part of California with amazing weather.
@@fortniteisdead4284 Yeah, just sucks there's not a major city in that region. Would help lower the costs of LA, SF, and SD (SB is expensive too but much smaller than those 3).
I live in Seattle and I’m moving to Santa Monica . Honestly it’s just the weather. But I may do San Diego instead. But yeah Seattle sunless consistent days are depressing and hard. I’d actually check out LA before you move though. I loved the west beach side. I’d seriously consider getting to know all of the areas of LA and then choosing if it’s for you. But if not try a job in Texas . Sun all the time and low cost of living. Denver is a good change too. And I love NY but it’s even more nuts then LA lol but they actually have seasons
I love So Cal.. the weather rocks and the beaches are amazing! I lived in Riverside and the housing was much cheaper. A lot of people live in Riverside County and commute to L.A. You can get a special pass for your car the gives you access to a special lane that moves along better during rush hour.
You should look into San Diego :-) The weather is so perfect there! I've lived in a lot places around the world, and my faves so far have been Vienna (Austria), San Diego and the Boulder area in Colorado. Plus you can lane split in Cali. Looks like your weather in Seattle is as gloomy as ours is here i Copenhagen :-(
I live very close to LA and though it is a very sunny place, with amazing weather, it is also has it's very bad weather times. Just like seattle both places are nice for a certain time. If anything try placing ur judgement on what u would want to be doing career wise. Because having a nice hot day, isn't so nice when u don't have a good job
so you never lived there -- so how can you compare? I lived in LA, OC, San Diego, Long Beach, Newport Beach -- First, nothing can prepare you for the amount of traffic your will encounter EVERYDAY - regardless of time or day. Riding a bike in LA - good luck, it is hell to ride a bike and bikes are targets on the freeways and streets. If you get aggravated driving in Seattle you are in for a big surprise in LA - carry a gun that's all I can say. You will cussing the whole commute - LA is a car culture and they do not like bikes on their roads. If you enjoy smog then you will love it. Sunny all the time -- if you live inland - if you live near the beach overcast pretty much 90% until around 2 or so. Dating? If you are good at pretending to be someone else then you will do well. Sounded like you are in your mid 30's renter - That takes you out of most dating pools. Don't get fooled by the sun - its not what it appears to be. Good luck but best to have a RT ticket ready. You will appreciate Seattle more once you tried LA
By the time that you read my comments, I think you v already moved here. But there r pot holes in both place's street, however LA has v warm and sometimes intolerable hot weather& traffic to compare with Seattle- which i have never been, although Seattle i have heard is v cold and raining all the time- But my q is, what is the living expenses to compare with Seattle?? Like: what would be the good compensation rate? (in general) to maintain a comfortable living standard in WA.
Have you decided against buying a set of supermoto wheels? Also, I would definitely give L.A a check out and see whats it all about. Some people love it, others hate it. Being from Florida you may enjoy the weather alot more compared to Seatlle. Personally packing up and leaving is a pain. I would probably choose to just stay. But that's just me.
Born and raised in LA, and been living in Seattle for almost 2 years. I will say the Seattle Freeze is real, most of the friends I've made are transplants. The city is beautiful and I feel like more people go to downtown Seattle vs LA locals hanging out in Downtown LA. The sports are a wash, but I do feel the Seattle fans are way more loyal to their teams. It does rain pretty much half of the year in Seattle, but it mostly drizzles, it never POURS. Seattle itself is way nicer looks wise than LA. The traffic is horrible in both cities, but Seattle's traffic isnt in the same ballpark as LA. The food scene is way better in LA because you're more likely to find a lot more non American options. Seriously, pick a country in the world, and I'm sure there's a restaurant for it in LA. As far as work, wages in Seattle are way better, and theres no state income tax. You'll get paid more and take more of your paycheck back. I do see myself moving back to LA (mostly because of family) but I love Seattle. I also lived in Portland for 1.5 years, and i wouldn't move back there.
Dude. You, BakerxDickhead, and CycleCruza are my favorite. Hands down. Anyway, SoCal is awesome. For the most part. L.A. on the other hand is a let down. If you want to live in SoCal my recommendations are: Any part of Coachella Valley (Palm Springs, Indio, Palm Desert, etc) and the reason is because its gorgeous and your never too far from anything. L.A. is a 3 hour dive, S.D. 3 hour, Phoenix 4 hour, Las Vegas 4 hour. The only problem with Coachella Valley is its hotter than the devils taint. We're talking 120 degrees. Temecula (boring if your not an outdoors person), Redlands (straight boring), Irvine, Palomar, San Diego. San Diego has a little bit of a Seattle feel so if you still want to be in SoCal but have that city life of Seattle that's the place. EDIT: I see that you loved L.A. so since you are probably going to move there check the places I listed above out when ever you get the time. You won't regret it for sure.
Hey MotoXO, Seattle MotoVlogger here as well. I have lived in Washington all my life. For me, I prefer the cloudy and tempramental conditions. Though, I do not mind the rain since I work with computers. I also ride rain or shine. I think it helps a ton if you have the proper gear. Once you have the proper gear and proper tires, I don't think you will mind riding in the rain either. Keep in mind, I don't care for the kind of sun that LA brings to the table. Way to hot for me. With the kind of situation you are in, I would give Seattle another thought. You'll need to factor in moving expenses, living expenses will be much higher there as well. Thinking you might want to maybe consider living outside the city where there's dirt trails, woods, much more open space and less crappy shitty roads that we have here in Seattle. I would be happy to discuss more; just hit me up.
LA is a fun city and parts are hellholes. The way to get the most out of it is work in the city but have a house miles outside of the city. Ride a motorcycle to get around traffic. Enjoy the Hot women hot weather and strong weed.
LA? Is HOT.. HOT.. HOT.. The real winter only Dec and January... the rest is.. HOT..HOT..HOT... and I like planting, thinking moving to Seattle.. over there no need to watering, because the rain will do it for me.
I live in Santa Rosa northern california 50 mile a way from San Francisco and I just moved here like a year and half ago from Amsterdam the Netherlands and me being from Europe and still liking it so much here people are chill and friendly and exactly 3 hours from everything that is awesome and some of the best motorcycle routs because how does`t wanna ride 6 summer months long though wine county and a perfect 70 at the coast and not hotter then 90 in land. and for al the people how said taxes are high in CA try living in Europe where you pay 44% of you small pay check to the government and fund everybody that does`t have money.
chiel - its all about prospective right. Its true coming from most European Countries where the taxes are high ( I lived in London and I understand) -- You live in a beautiful area -- Like any coastal city you get your share of rain but its worth it - that's why Seattle, SF and Cal beach communities are pricey -- because its worth it.
Moved to LA 6 months ago......yes, it is a concrete hell hole, with crazy rent and insane traffic that makes you not want to go anywhere. It takes me 40-to an 1hr to go 7-10 miles. Its so sprawling that sometimes you feel lost in it. And for a city so large shopping for groceries and essentials can be a pain in the ass. Ralphs= crap, Vons= crap. The downtown sucks. I'm from New Orleans and even our downtown seemed more lively. The beach is cool, but gets old FAST especially when it takes forever to get there and it will since rent in closer to the beaches are insane. Taxes are high as hell. I've NEVER had so much money come out of my check before. The only redeeming quality is the music scene is cool. It really is hard to meet people and make friends in LA like people always have said. I may move to portland or somewhere else IDK at the end of the year.
Ill agree with you on most points on LA now that im here but ill say the city feels like a epacenter and its full of cool shit in my area WEHO i think if you can find an area and live within that area your good. Its all a mater of location. Portland will NOT get you friends or laid be warned on that one!
California taxes probably feel exorbitant to you coming from New Orleans. LOL LA is basically an awesome place to live if you're rich, a hellhole if you're not. Kinda like NYC.
I actually did move here to this so-called Emerald City and it was quite exciting and fun at first upon arriving here, but then my dream quickly became a nightmare! I knew there was high cost of living here, but I had no idea that it was this high! If I would have known that I would be paying $1,500 dollars a month for a tiny one bedroom apartment with no stove here in Seattle, then I would not have ever come here. The weather in Seattle is absolutely dreadful and I never get to see the sun anymore due to constant rain! Also I noticed that there was no Walmart stores here at all or any kind of discount grocery stores and neither are there any buffets to eat at. I was completely shocked when I got here due to the fact that I noticed that the city was very dirty and I saw people going to the bathroom on the sidewalks due to there being no public restrooms available to the public and therefore the sidewalks are always covered in urine and feces!.... Absolutely DISGUSTING!.. I also was not aware of the shear amount of HOMELESSNESS that existed here! There are approximately 10,000 HOMELESS People living here in King County,Seattle and they are EVERYWHERE with their tents, sleeping bags, and blankets! The Homeless are ALWAYS begging you for money on every corner here and there seems to be a sense of total HOPELESSNESS here everywhere amongst the poor! I also noticed there is an immense amount of drug use here where people boldly in Broad Day Light, light up their crack pipes and NEEDLES as well as other various drug paraphernalia are everywhere! The cops do nothing and say nothing at all to discourage this behavior! I have since regretted moving from Florida and have recently repented moving here to Seattle and I will be strongly recommending people to stay the hell away from this place if you know whats good for you!.....I say again.....Stay Away! You may come and visit, but for Gods sake do not Move Here! This place is not an Emerald City in the remotest of any sense of the WORD!
You just need to move into a better neighborhood and apartment. There are places that are cleaner and more decent in Seattle. The rent is high in most big cities, so you'd just have to deal with it. There are homeless people but they are harmless most of the time. Just be kind to them like you would to anyone else. They are just people in an unfortunate situation. The thing about cop.. I don't know much about it but Seattle is known for its liberal and accepting attitude about different people. They don't just condemn you or try to control who you like or what religion you practice. They just leave you alone or they even protect you from discrimination. It's actually a pro rather than a con that people are more accepting of different kinds of people than anywhere else in the US.
BlackBerry Blossom Not quite, but it is getting close, still a nice city to live in though. The guy in the video said that it is never sunny and it is always rainy, which is just a lie. It has the right amount of rain and sun. This guy is just a troll trying to get his subscribers to hate on everyone who lives in Seattle. Take StarGeek for an example, he has 500,000 subs and he lives in Seattle. Moto XO just want people like him to lose subs and to constantly troll people.
Being from Seattle ... lived in S.D. for 5~yrs .. San Diego.. ok~ not as good as Seattle pretty much in anyway but tolerable.. Sadly 4.5~yrs ago.. due to a lay off had to move to L.A. area for a new job... Los Angles is the absolute worst place to live.. yeah there is a ton of stuff and things in the city.. but traffic is so terrible you'll never go do them if they are out of your neighborhood. Maybe you'll have a friend in O.C. you'll never see them because it will take 2hrs to get there.. sprawling dirty junky place... maybe move to San Diego.. but never LA... absolute ****hole..
maddingo - spot on with your truth. No one leaves their area because of the traffic. If you have a friend an hour away they might as well live in another state. The misery of getting their and getting back wears you down.
Don't do it! You'll spend 60% of your time trekking and working and trekking because of your work! The traffic sucks ass and we no longer have "down time" in traffic because tourism is now year round. If you had only a single destination work place then yeah, MAYBE. We have the most amazing food as we're a melting pot of cultures, thousands of things to do any given day and most places are open till 11 but holy shit it's expensive!
The only thing that sucks is you and your attitude over some darn weather. When you in La get tons of earthquakes cause you right by the tectonic plate. You get more earthquakes there than Seattle. I prefer small cities like Rosslyn VA or Grand Rapids Michigan
If you can't handle Seattle traffic then you can't handle LA. but LA believe it or not has more of a culture than Seattle does. Are there bad areas in LA yes, are there snobby rich people in LA yes and are there flaky struggling actors in LA ? Yes but somehow LA is a city that makes you love it. LA is like the beautiful crazy Ex girlfriend that you know should leave alone but you cant . lol LA just takes you on a ride that no other city can. lol A majority of people that leave LA end up moving back after a year or two if they can afford to. Seattle is a logical choice but LA is the more emotional choice. If you move to LA for a few months you will understand because as many negative things you find about it , you will still end up not wanting to leave.
Why tide Akkadian cleaner than American cities ?? If we want to compare between Seattle and Vancouver, I think that there was no comparison in terms of Janitorial? As well as the New York and Toronto never There are no comparison Comparison tend to favor Canadian cities 100% 100 Why ?? Why are not taken interest in infrastructure in American cities? Unfortunately, many are spending billions to develop weapons are then cancel the program at the end?
Yuppy... trying to climb that corporate ladder to milk that next commission. Yeah dump on Seattle. I lived in the Wilshire District (Hollywood) and I got mugged at gunpoint! I never once been mugged here in Seattle. Typical Yuppy. Next thing he'll do is cap on LA and move to Arizona fresh from the San Fernando Valley with a thick valley accent...
Arghh! What is up with this sitting in traffic along with all the other mugs when you're on a bike? Good job I never had a bike when I lived in WA, I'd have lasted about 10 seconds before I just rode down the middle...it must drive people round the bend.
Good luck. They both rule and suck in the end but all I can say after reading a bunch of comments here is that those opinions and feedback have allot of merit to them. I'd never been to l.a, grew up in Seattle and made the jump so. Yep. Chose your home and neighborhood wisely.
as much as you hate to hear it, you'll probably miss Seattle. you think no sun makes Jack a grumpy boy? try summer LA traffic with the capital of vanity and egos. I live in sw Florida BTW and good lord, you drive a motorcycle like there is a war going on! try riding safer!!
+christopher Button been riding since i was 16 (20 years solid), trained road racer for Ducati in Atlanta. i think ive got this riding thing covered thanks ;)
riding in LA is completely different - Don't think you are that so good a rider that you will beat LA. Road rage is real thing in LA area and freeways. Overconfidence will humble you quick in LA. Good luck you will need it -
Comparing Seattle to LA is like comparing Bakersfield to Seattle. It's absurd. Seattle should be compared to Atlanta, the Twin Cities and Denver. Those are more apt comparisons.
Honestly, comming from a person who lives in Seattle, it doesn't even rain that much. For example this year has been very dry. It's a very underrated city
+Diana Pap:I agree!
well lets just say it rains a lot here so people won't want to move up here...no place else i wanna live. ive lived here for 16 years, im from California
Ikr
Still live in Seattle?
Seattle is a good change of scenery. I'm originally from LA. I do eventually want to move back, but what keeps me in Seattle are the wages. They are just way better in Seattle vs LA.
In my opinion............Seattle is the winner.
@HawaiianBeast I like the equal balance of cold and warm weather.
Locals from LA don't really ever hang out in downtown
twice a year at most hahah
never
Tooo true
Weather: LA. Most everything else: Seattle
+keithrig Everything? Doubt it. LA has the best sushi outside of Japan.
+musingmike88 speaking of can you recommend some places to go for me? Since im new in LA now i have been looking but no idea where to start i live in weho 😀
so far seattle sushis way better and cheaper
I think there is good Sushi in both, but it seems like Seattle would have better access to fresh fish since its so close to the ports and water.
keithrig You have looked at L.A. on a map, right?
I go to Kerry Park every weekend.
Tommy can you capture a few pictures of Kerry Park for me?? Ive missed KP so much :'((((
Kasey Drasko Dude I left Seattle back to Shanghai in this summer, I miss it too.
bring me abode Tommy !!!!!
I know nothing about LA, but I wouldnt give up being self employed for anything!
yea Nerb1 its a thing!
LA is to Seattle what Walmart is to Nordstrom. LA is basically a ghetto full of poor folk who hardly speak English and don't have car insurance. Seattle is basically better in every capacity.
+Handsome Harry:The stereotypes about LA are not true. However, I do like Seattle for different reasons.
+Handsome Harry i disagree LA is not a bad city its different than BC and Seattle sure but there are positives...
This was epic. Super helpful for me. Thank you
Hey Moto XO ~ I SO appreciate your videos.
LOL
+Andrew Llera Thats cool. I also agree that LA has alot of big issues, i just love me some palm trees doe...
+Jared Co : Sorry..there are a lot of nice places in Long Beach.
😂
I'm having the same dilemma. Honestly I wouldn't want to live or work in downtown LA because of the traffic but since we ride motorcycles and down there we can lane split, it would make that much less a pain in the ass. I just want the weather. The constant rain and cold sucks.
I hear ya its a real bummer about this area, im heading to LA for 4 days to visit march 6th!
haha that's funny I'm heading down to san diego for 9 days on March 27th! How was your trip?
Oh enjoy yourself mate, i loved LA it was amaizing!
I’m from LA and moving to Seattle next year. While I don’t agree with everything said about LA in this clip I appreciate the input
Excellent reply, thanks for taking the time to express all of the above! duly noted and understood!
Moto XO My plesh! Keep them vids coming :)
+musingmike88 i like portland and austin alot LA seems cooler over all to me tho so far.
The cost of living is actually the same lol
musingmike88 San Antonio fucking sucks
+Will McCort Not a great post. LA can be a bit much for most people, but San Diego is a great city if you get a decent job.
Debating between San Diego/denver/Seattle
Oh ya.. I currently live in Vancouver Washington and I agree that the weather is pretty dark and morbid!
I love So Cal.. the weather rocks and the beaches are amazing! I lived in Riverside and the housing was much cheaper. A lot of people live in Riverside County and commute to L.A. You can get a special pass for your car the gives you access to a special lane that moves along better during rush hour.
+Stacy Denboer: I was born and raised in LA and I prefer Seattle over So Cal anyday.
You should look into San Diego :-) The weather is so perfect there! I've lived in a lot places around the world, and my faves so far have been Vienna (Austria), San Diego and the Boulder area in Colorado. Plus you can lane split in Cali. Looks like your weather in Seattle is as gloomy as ours is here i Copenhagen :-(
I love SD sadly the Job is in LA
I live very close to LA and though it is a very sunny place, with amazing weather, it is also has it's very bad weather times. Just like seattle both places are nice for a certain time. If anything try placing ur judgement on what u would want to be doing career wise. Because having a nice hot day, isn't so nice when u don't have a good job
7:15 will one day be used against you in a court of law lol.
so you never lived there -- so how can you compare?
But there r pot holes in both place's street, however LA has v warm and sometimes intolerable hot weather& traffic to compare with Seattle- which i have never been, although Seattle i have heard is v cold and raining all the time-
But my q is, what is the living expenses to compare with Seattle??
Like: what would be the good compensation rate? (in general) to maintain a comfortable living standard in WA.
I do not like nor recommend San Francisco to anyone, is extremely expensive for no reason and bad weather.
Good point, no sumo wheels this summer for sure!
I also lived in Portland for 1.5 years, and i wouldn't move back there.
ozzy4ever666 why not back to Portland?
@@tyironclayton3461 locals are weird, in an offputting way.
😂😂😂
I lived in Seattle for about 2.5 years, and couldn''t deal with the weather. Moved back to San Francisco.
today was pretty nice outside too man.
+Bob Ross thanks man, i did like LA its pretty busy there kinda scary! I am a sailor love the ocean so im stuck with the coast!
Seattle is gonna be one of the best city in the world.
*Austin
Tommy Wang Not for long if the cost of living keeps going up
Thanks man!
Hey MotoXO,
Seattle MotoVlogger here as well.
Good points its not a bad place i know some people are not affected by the rain,i guess i am haha.
Moto XO Yeah, I think that's the kicker in living here; you have to not mind the rain. =)
LA is a fun city and parts are hellholes. The way to get the most out of it is work in the city but have a house miles outside of the city. Ride a motorcycle to get around traffic. Enjoy the Hot women hot weather and strong weed.
hot women lol they are fat af. I go to santa monica to see european fine ladies those tourists
dude i have seen you irl riding. i think i saw you at byrant park near the PCC
LA? Is HOT.. HOT..
Why are all the cars red 5:48
seattle is cleaner and safer than any city in california
La is the best place for traffic ! How? If you have a motorcycle! Let rephrase that all of California !
California taxes probably feel exorbitant to you coming from New Orleans. LOL LA is basically an awesome place to live if you're rich, a hellhole if you're not. Kinda like NYC.
seattle save and clean more that LA dont compare between this two cities
if u dont like rain more people adore it sir
Sounds like LA minus the rain lmao
Seattle and LA both suck
LA is soo overrated
seattle is better in my opinion, cause in seattle it rains less than in boston and Houston and 40 other major U.S. cities
I like both (from CA but live I WA) so I'm biased towards LA
And during the summer, Seattle is hot like in LA. Trust me, I live there.
lizardvideoz
Since you live there, is the rent as high as it is in LA?
BlackBerry Blossom
Not quite, but it is getting close, still a nice city to live in though. Moto XO just want people like him to lose subs and to constantly troll people.
i live in graham WA i hate it here trust me xD but i deal with it maybe we can ride sometime man i have a CBR 600F4i catch ya around
Seattle has grass. LA is basically a desert with few patches of natural green.
The misery of getting their and getting back wears you down.
if i where you ID MOVE.....far far far away xD im probably moving to FL thank god..
LA is overpriced and overrated
seattle you've got it made and just grow some balls and deal with the rain
lol gee thanks Kinney, i have balls i promise! I even proved it to myself many times over ;)
I love Queen Anne neighborhood.
Ah, good ol' Mercer traffic lol
But of the two, Seattle is safer/healthier to me than LA
As an Arkansas resident i can reassure u that u dont want to come here lol. Im trying to leave here for Seattle
0 income tax vs high tax always going higher.
The 60 people disliking are diehard Seattleans. 😂
Why tide Akkadian cleaner than American cities ??
If we want to compare between Seattle and Vancouver, I think that there was no comparison in terms of Janitorial?
As well as the New York and Toronto never There are no comparison
Comparison tend to favor Canadian cities 100% 100 Why ??
Why are not taken interest in infrastructure in American cities? Unfortunately, many are spending billions to develop weapons are then cancel the program at the end?
Yuppy... trying to climb that corporate ladder to milk that next commission. Yeah dump on Seattle. I lived in the Wilshire District (Hollywood) and I got mugged at gunpoint! I never once been mugged here in Seattle. Typical Yuppy. Next thing he'll do is cap on LA and move to Arizona fresh from the San Fernando Valley with a thick valley accent...
I'd take Antarctica over Seattle
Boston win
just do what you would enjoy. don't get a job that your not going to enjoy.
as much as you hate to hear it, you'll probably miss Seattle. you think no sun makes Jack a grumpy boy? try summer LA traffic with the capital of vanity and egos.
Good luck you will need it -
Hell A
ITS HOT!!! EVERYDAY!!! DAM YOU SUN!!!
LA all day every day
Comparing Seattle to LA is like comparing Bakersfield to Seattle. It's absurd. Seattle should be compared to Atlanta, the Twin Cities and Denver. Those are more apt comparisons.
Get a real bike thats a scooter
LA Off Course
Bro gotta orange bike talkin bout LA lmfao for example you better learn the safer neighborhoods to ride in
