Yeah I started out on MTB’s in 2017 and Got bit by the drop bar bug…. Dude Tyler your the man.. I get it you wanna win But who you are and your perspective of these races/rides are VERY relatable and entertaining… Keep giving us these SUPER COOL videos… We Love it..🚴🏼♂️💨
Seriously when you make videos this good, the place you get in the race is irrelevant…I’ve always said the best videos are the ones that make you want to go outside and do whatever sport you’re watching a video of, and you certainly check the box for bike riding my dude!!!
Don’t worry about justifying your love for biking. If people think you’re doing it out of arrogance, they can think whatever they want. You’re inspiring bro, unbelievable riding!
long time, first time. ive been a fan and subscriber since the beginning, but this video hit different. i had a bad accident recently. 4 broke ribs, collapsed lung, super f'd collarbone. ive been worried i wont be able to get back on the horse, mentally. but you reminded what id be missing. that joy. love you bro.
I crashed my Mt bike 2 months ago pulverized my collar bone into 5 pieces. I had some of the same feelings, but now that I can ride again I’m getting my confidence back and realizing how much I miss the pure joy of riding.
If it's meant to be you will get there no matter what. Took me almost a year of rehab before I got my body working "correctly". I didn't think I'd ever want to ride again until one day I got on a friends bike and it just clicked, almost like my crash never happened. Good luck, stay positive and hope you have a speedy recovery.
I went over the front a (dozy) car last year - not great - but it made me more determined to ride more - I am a cyclist - end of …… later this week I am tackling King Alfred’s Way, UK
Bro thank you so much for this. Loved seeing the look on your face. Win lose or draw. It’s all about just riding your bike. Thanks for the inspiration.
VC, I saw an interview with you on Chris Miller's channel. I just wanted to say that on your questions about what content you should produce and if people would tire of watching you finish mid pack, I think you are doubting yourself too much. We just like the content and stories that you create, it doesn't matter if you win. At least that's my view as a subscriber. I also enjoy watching The Gravel Cyclist when he does race videos, even though he is back of the pack. I think for a lot of us that haven't done all these events it's just awesome to see any footage of them, to see what the courses are like and to inspire us for future gravel adventures. You produce great footage of gravel events that not all of us can travel to, so after any gravel event I'm always searching UA-cam to see if anyone made a video, no matter if they were a mid-pack racer or a competitor in the Life Time Series. Keep being you!
Thank you! You're such an inpiration! I bought my bike for 40€ on ebay and started upgrading it, and ACTUALLY rinding it! Just improving my PBs on strava is a huge boost for my convidence. Even if I'm not in top shape. Vegans can do just as well!
I live at moderate elevation (2000 meters) all year, and the biggest differences I noticed when I went down to sea level on a trip back to the US this summer was the burst of power I got back and a total shift in zones. My first ride was for an hour at 280 watts, a power that is hard for me at elevation, and it just felt easy. I stuck my Garmin in my pocket the next day and rode to what felt like a threshold effort level and it was 319 for the hour. Now I'm back in thin air and I have to subtract 40 watts again . . .
Awesome as always :) Just a suggestion, maybe you could write metric units next to imperial for your international viewers so we could get better view of numbers you're dealing with.
You asked Chris for his opinion on your path/operation at the end of his recent podcast. My opinion is people love you and come to you for your personality!!! 100%. They will watch you make cookies or do IR or ride local single track. I get you don’t want to make “more” Les quality videos. But I say you need weekly drops. Sometimes they are big races, sometimes they are playing with the kids. Wish you the best, love your work. You are an inspiration to many.
Just stumbled into one of your videos and never regretted being so invested watching you conquer these difficult and amazing races. I've just gotten myself a mountain bike from our neighbor. He gave it to me because he wasn't using it anymore and some parts are broken but still useable. So, my father, my cousin and I fixed it only to the point where I can use it to go to my school. I plan on upgrading its parts by saving my allowance day by day. So I first upgraded my pedal with a Ragusa 1021 pedal ( so happy and excited with it that I thought my bike went faster lol ). I want to upgrade it more so that I can be like you, doing these races, having awesome and cool bikes. You're an awesome dude! You inspired me so much, so keep inspiring people. Stay safe and God bless!
Yo Tyler! another great video! So i used to ride bmx then downhill and ended up stopping riding about 6 years ago when we had our daughter (im 35). I recently picked up a Poseidon X gravel bike to explore up here in New Hampshire and am really enjoying being back on 2 wheels. We just got back from visiting family down in North Carolina and my brother in law gave me his Giant TCR roadbike. Funny enough I found your videos about a month ago and you are a super inspiration to me and drive me to get out on my bike as much as I can throughout the week. Thanks for the cool inspiring videos and I am hoping to do some charity rides to push myself on further rides. Keep up the awesome content!
Left cycling for a bit …. Came back ….. and your channel blew up!!! Last I saw you were going through some tough times. 🍻 cheers dude, glad to see you’re doing well.
Saw you on Gypsy what you do is harder than moto doing those rides are all out all day and you know it’s hard if down hill is harder at times riding up hill respect 💯
Inspiring Tyler! I’m right there with you on loving to ride the bike! I crashed twice last Sunday, once each side, on a group gravel ride. Both shoulders are still sore but worst is I bruised ribs on both sides. 🙁 So hyped to get back out after I heal up, though fortunately I can live vicariously through your video! Great effort! 👏 Can’t wait for the next one!
Goodness VC... This couldn't come at a better time... Going into my hardest ride ever this Saturday in Colorado no less... Still can't wait to have a Free Ride in Arkansas. Till then... 🤙🤙🤙
As an ultra rider myself I totally get why you felt the need to ride the short route straight afterwards - especially with training for another event coming up soon. Of course you will often hear quality over quantity which definitely is also an important piece of the jigsaw.
Been watching you and some other YTers bust their ass on bikes, and it gave me motivation to get out and start riding again. knocked out my first 15 miles the other night. I got a lot of work to put in, but it felt good to have some jello legs again!
Great video! When I did Lost and Found in Portola I had the same feeling. Such a great course and absolutely beautiful you can’t help but get in the moment. Epic effort as well.
saw u on chris millar show and checked out your stuff im hooked u r awesome to be able to ride that aswell as film it and your commenatery is amazing im from australia
@@TheVCAdventures oooooh, good to know! I'm just a smaller 400 sub channel, but clarity and realism is super important to me. I'll check out the NDs for my GoPro.

Did you check for brake rub? Just a slight rub will kill your effort and slow you way down and wear you out prematurely. Good video and commentary as always!
Awesome Video. Can't wait to get a gravel bike myself. Borrowed one for a week and it was awesome. Great video and really makes me want to go outside. Wanted to be lazy today but shouldn't have watched the video :D
Question: i'm gonna buy my first gravel bike and live in the Netherlands. So alot of flat roads here. I also want to use it for commuting. Should a get the grail or grizl and if thw grizle with or without suspension
This dude has cost me so much money. I was perfectly happy on my MTB being completely unaware of those goofy road bikes with off-road tires.
Ugh me too, Gravel Bike and Smart Trainer purchased recently. Oh well :)
Me too !

What type of mtb, otherwise I'd say next up is an xc mtb.
Bad idea watching VC vids before bed. Now I'm stoked and want to go out for a ride... Tyler is an inspiration
This happens to me all the time 😂😂 glad I’m not alone
It's 3 fucking in the morning right now and I want to go out and ride. Man what a guy!

hahahaha exactly my thought

Watching this with 2 broken ribs, in pain. Prob not as bad as you, but it sucks to cancel a race.

Easily the funniest commentary I’ve heard … stream of consciousness is massively under rated.
I love how you are able to portray your excitement, I can feel it, and that makes these videos awesome to watch over and over again.
Thank you!

The Garmin check-in part is so funny :)) someone please make a meme out of it

Hey Tyler, no need for explaining why riding 2 rides. MAN! You just do what you love. Great to watch!
Thanks for sharing!
Is there anything better than staying out and riding bonus miles guilt free without feeling like ur ditching the fam???!!!! so good!
Absolutely stunning

The overall vibe through that video is so motivating, thanks Man, that's why we love riding bikes!
Such a unique event!! Totally wish I had a gravel bike, definitely not trying to run a road bike on that
Gravel's fun, I got into it last year.. it's a totally different beast.
Dude big horn is definitely my hardest race of the year but the one I look forward to the most next year, hope to get an autograph next year!
This kind of video is what you are best at in my humble opinion. How you record while racing blows my mind.

I started using an ND filter on the GoPro and it’s made all the difference.
LOVE the garmin update...haha First time viewer, definitely coming back for more haha
Great video. This is yet another example of the incredibly high bar that you have set quality for UA-cam cycling content....

Watched from the newest to alled ones, nice editing and riding!

Such a fun event! Great vid, VC!
Dude you rock! Loved the video and I’ll definitely put that race in my bucket list.
I don't ride near as much as Tyler, but it doesnt really matter, just ride because you enjoy it and what you get out of it. Keep it up!

It looks so good out there... bucket ride added to the list!
Osprey sells a little magnet you can put on your hydropack tube. It's super clutch for racing and works with the USWE bag.

Seeing Critical on your garmin had me gigglingggggg
Lmfao with the mud section clip 😂😂😂😂😂 pure gold. Even I remember that trauma😂😂😂
I don’t normally ride gravel, but when I do - it’s because VC inspires me to 😄
Even just an occasional VO2 max interval set would do wonders for you I reckon. Either way great video!

Those delts are poppin'! Good job on hitting the weights
I’ve low key been working on sleeper build under the spandex, December vlogs will show a lot of that 💪💪
