Related to the cancelled games category I’ve found a big interest in cut content from games. The one that sticks with me most being how in Arkham asylum mad hatter was gonna be in it and he’d have you run around a maze I imagine something like the Mad as a Hatter episode of Batman TAS.
Fun fact about Sonic XTreme, one of it’s lead programmers, Chris Senn, ended up being one of the staff members who worked on Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.
They dropped the ball so hard it hit beyond terminal velocity and ripped a hell hole into the Earth itself which became that fire off the gulf of Mexico.
The cancelled Flash game always hurts me the most. I want that game so bad, just being able to run around hella fast as The Flash would have been sick. The closest thing we have right now is Lego DC Super Villains which is solid but I wish the open world was bigger and you could run up walls. Maybe one day a studio will take a shot at a Flash game.
The Flash and Superman must be notoriously hard to make games for since in concept they are technically OP as heck and giving them vulnerabilities is difficult to justify game-wise. So basically they need to make a Static Shock game, yesterday, is what I'm saying.
The fact that Thrill Kill, Sonic X-Treme, and Earthbound 64 were mostly or fully completed and completely cancelled with no hints of being revived or remastered really goes to show just how much potential the developers are missing out on big time! Considering how Thrill Kill and Sonic X-treme especially have a lot of their content posted on UA-cam or being made playable online thanks to their dedicated fanbases really prove that a lot of great opportunities are being constantly wasted.
Honestly, this topic is so cool/sad. To be fair, I think it's safe to say that every 3D Mario game that's come out after Super Mario 64 is a sequel. While some are considered spinoffs like Mario Galaxy and Mario 3D World, they all technically count as a spiritual successor to Super Mario 64. And thankfully not one of them have failed making this series platinum in every aspect
Man Lucas is like the charlie brown of smash bros On top of the painfully unfortunate series of events that occured in his life, he’s the one character in the game whose game never had a worldwide release
Fun Fact: Thrill Kill, although scrapped, had the code re-jigged and turned into the fighting game Wu-Tang: Taste the Pain, centred around (obviously) the Wu-Tang Clan but otherwise basically a rom hack.
11:45 *"And even the main staff becoming ill"* From the looks of the game, I wouldn't be surprised if that illness was caused by drugs. The game looks like the average vision of a pothead.
Nah, I wouldn’t say it was that bad. From the looks of the game itself and such, I honestly think it would’ve sold and would’ve carried the sega Saturn. But what I’m honestly pretty confused on is that only sega of America worked on this game. Sega of Japan didn’t do anything whatsoever to help in making the game for their star franchise. It’s like they wanted sonic to fail.
@@dbzenthusiast8152 At the time, it was like as if Sega of Japan wanted to destroy the company period. The execs of Sega of Japan were refusing to communicate with Sega of America which is why the Sega Saturn and Sega 32X both of their 32-bit offerings came out in the same week, both with absurdly poor launches which practically killed the company.
Fun Fact: Back in the 90's, there was supposed to be a Sonic movie made to tied in with Sonic Xtreme, but since Sonic Xtreme got cancelled, so did the movie, which sucks because the FULL SCRIPT was found in its entirety. There's a video by PatMac that goes more in depth with it, so add that to the list.
There was also another sonic movie, Sonic Armageddon, which was going to be worked by.. ugh... Ken Penders, the worlds worst worker for the Archie Sonic comic line by the community. Why is that? Because he claims that what he creates for the Archie Sonic comics are his and his alone. And when Sonic Chronicles was released, he sued SEGA and BioWare over the character of Shade, who looked like the echidna characters he did for Archie Sonic, SEGA tried to defend their case by saying that he technically doesn't own those characters, but failed because SEGA and Archie Comics lost the agreement, resulting in the court case being settled in favor for Ken, but the truth is, he still technically doesn't own Shade either.
There was a game in development for the GameCube called the "Buryico 5" developed by United Game Artists (Space Channel 5 and Rez). It' was supposed to a weird and fun game and it has a prototype on Unseen64. It got cancelled because Sega of America felt that people won't be interested in a experimental game and Sega pulled the plug on the project.
honestly Mario Spikers is one of the most interesting ones to me because Its so unique in concept being a mix of volleyball and wrestling and Nintendo turning it down just makes me really upset knowing we could have seen another new type of Mario sports game.
IMAGINE if game companies actually took the time to complete these games and release them in modern day. Don't modernise it if it doesn't need to. Release it in its original aesthetic and time period style. Announce it at E3 too. Give it the recognition it deserves
Out of all the canceled games, Earthbound 64 is like the Holy Grail of canceled games. There's a cartridge of the game out there, yet noone has leaked it yet. But someday, maybe sometime soon, _it'll get leaked_ . _I just know it._
Another canceled game that comes to mind for me is The City of Metronome, a game by Tarsier Studios, the developers of Little Nightmares. It was supposed to be a puzzle adventure game for the ps2, but it was sadly never released. A lot of the visual design and some story elements were however reused for Little Nightmares I & II, so at least we still got something out of it.
For cancelled Megaman games, there was also Megaman Star Force 4. All we have now is some concept art and the game’s premise. The protagonist would have teamed up with a hacker and both would be on the run from the police, with new hacking mechanics to seperate this from others in the spinoff series. Probably my most disappointing cancellation to this day.
I remember playing armada and dying on purpose so many times cause I had too much fun with the ragdoll physics and watching my character go flying across the levels
Battlefront 3 was for 360/PS3, a mainline entry. It was heavily based on Elite Squadron, which was in fact a PSP game. It appears they used it to prototype the story and space to ground battles feature, but both were somewhat incomplete. This campaign is being ported to the Battlefront III Legacy mod
Man I can't believe they were developing a full blown Stranger Things game. The Far Cry 6 expansion mission for it was baller. It felt really cool to play and see the world. An official one (outside of mobile) would have been amazing
I am nothing but disappointed that Gotham by Gaslight game never got made That design of Batman and take on him is probably up in my top 4 favourites and to see a game based on that would make me go nuts!
Cancelled games was always something I was fascinated with. One cancelled game I am surprised that isn’t mentioned is the Kirby GCN game. Sure, you can say the game turned into Return to Dreamland with some of the assets and trailer music appearing in said game but the game was still going to be seemingly very different from Return to Dreamland to the point that I can’t really say they were going to be the same game. One Famous One (or so I think) was The Zootfly Ghostbusters Game. The Game was basically a sort of reboot for the franchise that was intended to have the original cast. It had a cool weapons and shooting system, a mission where you drive Ecto-1, an open-ish world, and it even had Bill Murray… without his permission. Yep, they made the game without securing the rights, at the same time, Sony was meeting with Terminal Reality to Create an Official Ghostbusters Game, they caught wind of Zootfly’s wrong doings and forced them to shut the project down. The Mechanics for Ghostbusters was eventually turned into another game, which nobody played and Zootfly was later shut down and Terminal Reality’s & Atari’s Ghostbusters The Video Game came to be.

06:14 Bolt...are you telling me that our worlds were almost in danger?! And that we were almost tasked with finding the four cyberplanet keys before the decepticons could use them for evil?! DANG IT. Wait, I mean, "hooray"?
Scalebound is a cancelled game I wish never got cancelled. It was a hack and slash Xbox exclusive made by PlatinumGames (the guys who made Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Nier: Automata). The main unique thing about it was the dragon mechanic, as you would have a customisable dragon companion who you could take control of m (and if he died, you died). It would have been awesome. Apparently, Platinum actually still want to make it, but Microsoft owns the IP. It’s a shame, honestly. The pre-alpha footage looked fucking awesome, and it could have easily become a successful franchise.
I've been thinkin about Final Fantasy Versus 13. It wasn't so much cancelled as it was rebranded and repackaged as FF15. But thanks to Yozora from KH at least the spirit of that game is being kept alive. Solid vid mate. Cheers bolt! : )
As an EarthBound fan myself I think I've just gotten used to the sorrow of unreleased games but knowing that EarthBound 64 was that close to completion stings more than when they dropped Mother 1 and 2 on switch but blue ballsed us with no Mother 3 but it was at least something so I was happy. (Also that Direct showed Xenoblade 3 so they are forgiven) Nintendo at least remembers we exist. Still pisses me off that the game is literally done but they refuse to translate it. At least the fan translation exists.
About thrill kill, that actually got reworked into a game cantered around the wu-tang clan (a hip hop group), it is essentially the same game but with edgy turned up to 11
I remember de blob was supposed to get a club penguin style browser game and TV show, but they never came for whatever reason, maybe it was too much to properly make and maintain, at least we have a handful of concepts and videos for the game and a whole lot of nothing on the show
Didn't RAGE feel like the Doom 4 concept, enviroment wise? Also, Blur and Split/Second had their games cancelled due to the games not selling well. Split/Second 2 was supposed to take place after the first game, and would have had some awesome stuff in it, like boat chases, some on foot missions, flashback sequences taking place in the 1980's, actual characters that interact, and a escape sequence in the begining where you have to escape the set being destroyed by the rival company that was taken off air in '82.
There was also gonna be a South Park video game inspired by the success of The Simpsons: Hit and Run. You can find footage of a beta build on UA-cam. Also, I remember that Daredevil game. My brother and I were SO excited for that game but then we kinda just forgot about it. It wasn't until years later that I found out that it never even released. :P
That Flash segment fucked with me. I heard “open world flash game” like “open world adobe flash game” but looked at the screen and saw the super hero, the flash on screen. And then he mentioned adobe flash closing and that forced me to rewatch that whole segment. Fuck man.

There was going to be a power rangers video game that was going to be like the Arkham games, add that to list of missed opportunities
Eh, I think an rpg strategy game would work best for Power Rangers.
I believe Thrill Kill was technically reskinned and released as a Wu tang Clan fighting game with an atrocious Wutang controller to play it with 😂
I think it’s safe to assume that the 2005 Mario 128 eventually became Galaxy, since I’m pretty sure those interviews mentioned that they were playing around with gravity mechanics and sphere walking
You know its a good day when bolt uploads
Imagine if Rockstar did release Kid Kirby
A company with so much controversy also had a Kirby game produced in their resume
Just imagine Kirby as a GTA protagonist
Almost everytime a game gets canceled, the work and effort gets put on a more worth while project.
06:14 Bolt...are you telling me that our worlds were almost in danger?! And that we were almost tasked with finding the four cyberplanet keys before the decepticons could use them for evil?! DANG IT. Wait, I mean, "hooray"?
The motion capture of the Steven Seagal videogame being made by a bodydouble in a wig is the most Steven Seagal thing I've ever heard
What can't he do?
Oh yeah, direct a movie.
Been watching you since 2017. Youve grown so much....
Apparently Sadness (Wii) would later transform into the medium whilst keeping themes and characters from that cancelled project.
About thrill kill, that actually got reworked into a game cantered around the wu-tang clan (a hip hop group), it is essentially the same game but with edgy turned up to 11
Honestly, with how narcissistic Steven Segal is, that studio working on the Steven Segal beat em up had the right idea
they had f*cking Junji Ito working on Sillent Hills??? how did they mess this up wtf
A video so random and out of this channels regularly posted videos is something new this year
I remember de blob was supposed to get a club penguin style browser game and TV show, but they never came for whatever reason, maybe it was too much to properly make and maintain, at least we have a handful of concepts and videos for the game and a whole lot of nothing on the show
I often wonder what Super Monkey Ball Banana Crazy would have been like.
“I don’t play a lot of games”
Button smashers: well yes but actually no
Didn't RAGE feel like the Doom 4 concept, enviroment wise?
Also, Blur and Split/Second had their games cancelled due to the games not selling well. Split/Second 2 was supposed to take place after the first game, and would have had some awesome stuff in it, like boat chases, some on foot missions, flashback sequences taking place in the 1980's, actual characters that interact, and a escape sequence in the begining where you have to escape the set being destroyed by the rival company that was taken off air in '82.
The original Star Wars: Battlefront III was cancelled when it was 99% COMPLETE!!!
Wasn’t the reason it was canceled was because of Star Wars Kinect?
I’ll never be allowed to forget Silent Hills. Favorite series of all time, still have P.T. On my PS4.
This was a sequel I needed.
That Flash segment fucked with me. I heard “open world flash game” like “open world adobe flash game” but looked at the screen and saw the super hero, the flash on screen. And then he mentioned adobe flash closing and that forced me to rewatch that whole segment. Fuck man.
Never thought I would see “12 angry men” in a diamondbolt video 10:22
Wow everyone is uploading today and I’m happy to see you!
For the 6 years of watching diamondbolt I never realised how bad his upload schedule was till just now
what upload schedule?
Can't have a bad upload schedule if you don't have one
@@alumlovescake to me that is the sign of a UA-camr how cares about the quality of their content only releasing it when it is ready and not any sooner.
Diamondbolt, please do another video on an asylum movie, those are always the best.
Nice new upload, funny enough you appeared in my recommended like a month ago but completely forgot to subscribe. Now you're back in my recommended and I'm gonna subscribe.
tbh, I kinda want to see you narrate a dykg episode
also correction, Mario 128 was indeed released but as Pikmin according to Miyamoto
So on the start of the video, you said it will only count if it was never released or repurposed. So, I am here to warn ya about Thrill Kill. Apparently the code was reused for a game about, no I'm not kidding, the Wutang Clan. Still violent but now with the Wutang Clan and evil monks.
As soon as you mentioned cancelled/unreleased sonic games, my mind instantly went to "sonic dreams collection". God, what I would do to forget that.
Coming back to this after the news that EA cancelled Respawn’s Mandalorian FPS game
Damn Adam seeing a new upload from you is a pleasant surprise, but I'm not going to lie, I think I'm going to leave this video upset
