Getting the bow to bounce takes so much practice and patience. The cello is my second instrument. Playing the piano trained my ear- so intonation is no problem. But learning bowing techniques really challenge a different set of skills. Thanks for your lessons.
"It really is that easy" Says the professional cellist :P Thanks for the insights.
Any questions for me? Ask me right here!
Balance point! So you want to hold your bow by the wood until it is even and doesn't tip towards the frog or the tip.
This is where ever the middle of the weight is even on your bow!
Hope that helps to anyone a little unsure on how to find it
Wendy: "There are other pieces, Tchaikovsky has one..."
Me: NOOO GOD PLEASE NO. NO. NOOOOOOOOOOOO.
😂🤣😂
You are very talented. I'm impressed and am going to listen to your YT catalog....
Thank you very much Jonny. Enjoy my videos! 🎶
Wendy why are you so good
I practiced LOL
Can you do a video on brush stroke
I’ll see what I can do
Thanks 😊
Hi Wendy. Your abilities are really inspiring. I'm an adult player spanning 5 yrs. Just recently developed terrible tendinitis in my left elbow. Any advice is much appreciated! ( Just started physical therapy). Thank You!
Fellow victim here: the cause is probably too much tension while either bending or extending your elbow/wrist/fingers. Talk to your celloteacher about changes in your movements and give yourself more arm massages. For me it is usually the forearms. More stretching and kneeling on the forearm does the trick for me.
Make sure you give your body enough time to heal (physiotherapists decides, not you 😉) or it will become a chronic issue!
Repetitive movement causes problems for many musician- tendonitis, carpel tunnel, etc. There must be orthopedists who specialize in musicians' specific nerve, tendon, muscle, joint dysfunctions.
When it’s that fast isn’t it almost near a sautille,? (Sp)
Yes very close
I was taught differently then. 🧐Isn’t spiccato used in classical period music and more of a bouncing or brush stroke in the middle of the bow and not quite as fast? Sorry this just confused me,,,Ty
I'm having trouble getting fast enough. What could I do to get there?
I would say that this would be sautille stroke, or so called 'uncontrolled' spiccato.
In contrast, (controlled) spiccato stroke is a fast detache or brush stroke. It is harder in certain sense but can be done from any tempo to probably up to 130-140 ish..
That's sautillé, no spiccato 🤔 or not?

This video needs to be renamed "How to do sautille"
You are right!’
I call it mouse squeak ♡ haahahahhaha it is not easy ♡
Mouse 🐁 squeak? 😆
Use plenty of rosin so the bow can get a grip.
