As for the statement that most people won't use the bed, we've had our Santa Cruz for 8 months and something has been in the bed everyday. It's so nice to have the comfort of an SUV, and a bed to put golf clubs, groceries, and plants into without worrying about dirt and spillage. We have the Limited and it's the best all around vehicle we've owned, and we've owned over 30 vehicles. Great road trip car.

And this is why it was so very stupid for Hyundai/Kia to use DCTs in the Sorento, Santa Fe, and Santa Cruz. Not only do DCTs destroy any ability to off-road, they are far less reliable than Hyundai/Kia's 6 and 8 speed automatic.

    • @zachariewright1690

Its time you explained how a torque converter in an automatic transmission increases delivered torque at low speeds and no its not about high stall speed raising the revs so the engine reaches it torque band. In this comparison you forgot to note how the weight distribution and carrying capacity would affect their off road performance. Since the Sant Cruz can carry a lot more weight and has a worse weight distribution, it will take a lot less articulation to start spinning tires since they will unload much faster. Conversely, most people go off-road with a few passengers and additional weight. This will effectively lower the Tucson more quickly and ground clearance will become a problem faster than the Santa Cruz. Its not always tires or engine power that makes a difference.

Hyundai announced a diesel Santa Fe in 2018, it was on their webpage and everything, I was prepared to run out the door and buy it as soon as it hit the dealership, then suddenly everything about it disappeared.
