Curly To Straight Hair: Roller Set

  • If you have curly hair and are looking to get sleek straight hair or soft waves, try a roller set! Here's my roller set routine that shows you how I go from naturally curly hair to smooth and shiny straight hair using only rollers and a spray bottle. My curly hair texture and type is around 3b/c and fine so I only needed water to set my hair. If you have a tighter curly pattern or have thicker hair, you might want to use a setting lotion of some sort.
You have the option of air drying completely, using absolutely no heat to straighten your hair. However, if you are extremely impatient like me, you can sit under a hooded dryer set to the lowest heat setting, and pop in a movie or two to keep you entertained! For the best results, remember to never remove the rollers until your hair is 150% dry!
    What you will need:
    Spray Bottle: amzn.to/2JAcDxW
    Rat Tail Comb: amzn.to/2xgmVRM
    Magnetic Rollers: amzn.to/2IK4hXs
    Butterfly Hair Clamps: amzn.to/2II6Bug
    Duck Bill Clips: amzn.to/2LqZeZP

I have 3b hair and the only one in my family with curly hair, thank you to the black women on UA-cam for teaching me how to maintain my hair. My mom was so confused with my hair growing up.

Same! I'm in the 3b/c category and no one else has curls like me in my immediate family either. My mom couldn't deal with my hair very well when I was younger and ended up cutting it pixie short 2 different times simply out of frustration. It broke my heart because I liked my hair. Luckily I learned to do my own hair and was able to let it grow and really take shape🙂

Aisha Zee i have 3b hair too and i got it from my dad (my mom has pin straight hair) so growing up, my hair used to be cut really short, and when i insisted on growing it out my hair used to be straightened every week, because nobody in my family knew how to care for curly hair:(. Those videos really helped me understand and maintain my natural hair

Same! Plus people in Greece ( where I live ) are unfamiliar with curly hair, so all I hair is that I should straighten my hair to look pretty.. that crashes my self-esteem every time

Thanks for showing us another alternative to straighten our hairs. I'm so excited that I went out to buy myself roller sets. It will be my first time doing it but I hope it comes out good. Wish me luck. It will be my first time in a year 1/2 that I haven't seen my hair straight.

Great Job!! I'm a curly hair lady as well and I find magnetic rollers work wonders...Flexi Rods are pretty good as well. I usually use a foaming mousse or setting lotion from lotta body (add water if needed) and my hair stays straight for about two weeks.

I a in the process to let my hair grow long and healthy . But I heard rollers relaxes your curls and could also be damaging if if they are plastic because it pulls your hair from the root of too tight ? I bought these you have from watching your video and the 3 in rollers because I have long hair and I like it straight . What do you think about the fact the plastic rollers also damages your hair or relaxes your curls? By the way I let them air dry thought the day for 8 hours never use a machine or any heat

no it shouldn't. A hooded dryer is a source of indirect heat. A hooded dryer doesn't get nearly as hot as a flat iron. if you're really worried you can add a heat protectant. I normally get other the dryer with just leave in in my hair and I have no issues with heat damage.

The grey look like my 2 inch rollers, and the purple look like 1 3/4 inch rollers. They're called magnetic rollers and you can get them on Amazon for pretty cheap. You do need a good hood drier, though, or they'll be drying for days.

My hair is way too long for rollers... my arms would fall off! ;) I'm on the hunt for flexi-rods though! I just haven't found any that can handle over 30 inches of hair... long hair dilemma #416 hee hee
    Great video as always sweets!

You can, you just have to modify the ends rolling. Mine's sneaking up on 40 inches, and I can do it. Take it from me, though, that it takes me like an hour to roll mine and 4+ hours to dry under a professional salon dryer (as in I bought one for myself from the professional shops when I got my cosmetology license). Flexi-rods don't breathe like magnetic rollers, so they dry differently.
