- Another LEGO room update is here. Major LEGO room organizing is underway! I love the new setup but it still needs some work. However, the layout is perfect for LEGO MOCS and working on my custom LEGO city! Though I still need to find drawer organizers that won't break the bank for even more LEGO sorting. What should I use, help me out!

I appreciate the tour for us left-handed people. 😁
It’s really a thing! How about you? I just gravitate to turning to the left so it really works well!
I am not a big fan of Ikea at all but after watching this and doing a ton more research, I couldn't find anything better then these Alex drawers. I went and got several of these for me Lego room. I am glad I did and I think they look really look. Surprisingly, it is a very solid built item. Thanks for the recommendation on these drawers.
Awesome, glad to hear it. I can’t say I’m a big fan either but if you do buy their higher quality items, they do hold up well. I hope these last me quite awhile too. That will be the real test.
Good job!
I love your storage system. It has me rethinking how I do mine.
It’s very pleasing to the eye and mind!
For your Iris containers, you could put the individual trays in the Alex drawers, so you wouldn't have to open every tray, for the pieces. I'm sure someone probably already mentioned that, as an added bonus, brings down the clutter also. Just an Idea, loving your videos, thank you!
Yes, done, they take up about two rows and it’s great.
Use doublesided tape to stick a LEGO plate to the front of each shelf. Then you can put on single bricks on the plate to show which bricks are in the drawers. That is how they do it at Innovation House in Billund. 👍
I had thought about that! Right now I like the clean aesthetic of the front but I also don’t have tons of bricks so I have it all memorized!
NICE!!
Thank you!
Looking great Sarah, very organised must be nice to know where everything is now, keep up the great work
It’s definitely nicer to look at too. Be even nicer when it’s in its own room!
You could use multi pot seed trays to fill drawers - one problem is... they are mostly black, can be cut to individual pots - just use tape to seal bottom holes, if I had Alex drawers I would probably use this method
Love the natural light in your space! Hope you can check out Swoop Bags as well for misc. lego storage. Easy cleanup!
Always interesting to see how others organize their spaces, and what kinds of systems they use. I have a couple of the Alex drawers in my room, and they work out ok…the wasted space in the back is a little annoying…I wish the drawers opened further for sure. Organizing and sorting bricks is a never ending battle, and I feel like getting a good system is a life-long project sometimes 🤣 I also took advantage of the VIP week, and ordered a bunch of bricks for an 8-story skyscraper I’m making for my city.
I hear with that extra space and why don’t the drawers come out farther. I buy in bulk so it’s actually a good place to shove a bag of extra bricks. It’s definitely going to be a long project because needs are constantly changing. Fantastic on the parts order, did the same myself.
Looks fantastic and so neat. It’s surprising how many different pieces Lego produce and how much space they need to store. Love how the Halloween moc is turning out too 👍
It is amazing all the different pieces. I have some bins that have a bunch of odd pieces that I’m not sure when I will use them.
Looking nice
I just bought these Alex Drawers after seeing Lego themselves having them in the background of their Lego Set Preview videos. Lego also had glued a baseplate to the front of each drawer with the corresponding type of Lego pieces that are within the drawer. I also agree with others when they say these look a lot better and i would rater pull out 1 drawer and access 1-5 different pieces and all their colors instead of pulling multiple tiny drawers again and again looking for the piece i want. Thing these are a great choice!
I am definitely loving them and even out all the tiny iris containers into a drawer!
After watching this, I think I am going to redo my build station to make it easier for me to build things at my desk.
Awesome! It’s great when you can get to what you need easily. I need to do an updated drawer tour!
Cool. I have been planning to update our storage system with Alex drawers as well. One suggestion, if you are handy with a hot glue gun, you can make dividers with dollar store foam board.
I’ve heard of doing that!
Legó set 41935 lots of dots 1,000 pieces for 19.99. Great for custom furniture like chairs rugs, beds and tile floors. Love your legó building station
I definitely have one of those sets! I love dots for details. The new building station has been a great addition. Thanks for stopping by.
Great video
The way I sort my parts is almost identical to yours ! Colors are almost always mixed because you can recognize them anyway. And it's easy to see if you can change a color if you haven't got enough of one. But just like you separated the dark tan bricks, I separate some of the rare colors and some of the bricks I know I will use in specific projects.
I also separate all the printed parts and parts with stickers. They can be hard to find when mixed with the rest, and they are better protected because it's in a drawer I don't use very frequently.
I was wondering if it wouldn't be easier to get the drawers on top of each other. To could have 3 columns of 12 drawers. That way you can move around less.
It's one thing not to lose time when you search for parts, but you also need to make it simple when you have to put them back in your drawers. Usually I want to avoid having to move around.
have you thought of 3D printing the sorting containers ?
Maybe in the future!
Can the drawers come completely out of the cabinet for transporting drawers only for weight? I'm thinking about picking some up. Thank you in advance for your help.
They can but it’s not quick and easy as just pulling them out.
okay it has taken me from noon yesterday untlil 247 am thrusday to get your video watched(HEY IM OLD) .first thing i love the roof on your haunted house that slant is great.second thing are you trying to shame me into sorting .just remenber i dont even have enough time to build .your sorting does look great hey 3 in the morning now i am gonna get a few hours sleep. take care
One can always sort more! Get to it! This isn’t even sorted all that well.
@@LittleBinsandBricks trully takeing care of jody takes a lot of time.when she was in the hospital and nursing home i was with her .2 years and i almost lost her 3 times, thats where my sleep got missed up i would just sit most of the nite watching her thinking how my life would be if i lost her.we have been married 38 years. and now at home i can only spend about 10 or 15 min away from her at a time.me being 62 jody , well her age doesnt matter.but quiting work 4 years ago to take care of her made me relize thing i want to do and what i heart says to do arent always going to match up. hey jody just laid down for a nap this gives me time to run erans?sorry can spell .talk later
Should put led lights in each cube, all different colors. Even a glass front so no dust lol.
Just temporary for now!
I want to get one of those iris drawers for all the small bits. Not sure if the drawers come out but I saw dividers that you put in the drawers instead of bins.
The drawers do come out. The ones that you see in the big drawers are the sterilize bins that I am using temporarily till I figure out what I want to do.
Love seeing those modulars! Will you be building anymore modular alt builds?
I would like to when we have more space dedicated to LEGO building.
Sarah, what is the manufacturer and model of your super cool rolling stool?
It’s called kktoner pu leather rolling stool! About $55. Goes up and down smoothly.
Have you seen Tiago Catarino’s office tour? He uses the exact same IKEA Alex drawers and also has 6 of them. He shows which boxes he uses to organize his Lego inside of the drawers in this video: ua-cam.com/video/UURBNakpXOE/v-deo.html (5 minutes into the video). He also shows that he uses empty Lego set boxes cut to specific sizes to organize some of it and e.g. the Lego advent inserts as well.
I did watch it awhile back. I will have to go back and take a closer look now that I have the same drawers!
When will you come back
Im not a big fan of little drawers. It takes too much time to get them AND sorting them back. Putting all 50 little bins in one big drawer means you get access to 50 bins with just one draw, instead of drawing 50 times
Hmm so are you saying maybe take all the little bins out of the cases and put them all in one drawer? Might be something to that!!
Or label the front of the little drawer....or use some clear packing tape and tape the brick or piece to the insde of the drawer front. That will identify what is in the drawer and be able to see through the tape to see how full the drawer is.
@@LittleBinsandBricks It's doesn't have to be the bins. I use Lego boxes and other card boxes saved up over the years, cut them to the exact height of the drawer. They're packed nicely with no wasted space unlike the plastic bins
