The Twin Snakes cutscenes were better, and not just because of graphics. in a game with a giant walking mech, psychics, a cybernetic ninja tripping balls, a roided out dude wielding a gatling gun from a fighter jet and taking a tank down with hand grenades what really is "ridiculous" is the flips, 90s cheese action and gun fu? get outta here with that. Its perfectly cheesey in a lovable way. Both games cut scenes are great and i fell in love with the series at 11 years old when it released in 98
They messed up on the music & original voice acting. Also they shouldn’t have added the first person shooter like MGS 2. Newer graphics doesn’t always mean a better game. Twin snakes could have been a masterpiece but they took the nostalgia out of it. Imagine remaking the movie Scarface it’s just not the same.
@@ryancirrone3343 A classic experience difficulty mode would be a nice option for the purists, but Its a game that can be played however you want. I think the real tragedy is not being able to relieve the good ole days of the 1998-2000 era when many of us first enjoyed MGS 1.
As long as gamers continue to have access to the original soure material, we are fine. Its if they go full George Lucas and wipe out our ability to enjoy the orginal memories that its a problem.
I love how they say it is too over the top with snake jumping on a missile but vampires running on water, man spitting bees out of his mouth like bullets, bullets dodging a woman with a railgun, dislocating limbs and climbing trees, an old man sniper with the speed of a cheetah, lightning power villains, oh that gets a pass. LOL 🤣
That's why I made reference to Eva backflipping a Triumph off of Ocelot's chest in Snake Eater. I think some of the stuff in Twin Snakes is corny, but nowhere near as ludicrous as some of Kojima's other stuff.
Twin Snakes was my first Metal Gear game and my first GameCube game. I've always loved it for the many little details and features added to make it stand out from the original release.

Regarding the dialogue changes Jeremy blaustien localized the og and he's known for altering elements and dialogue. Most notably In symphony of the night and mgs 1 (he localized snatcher but that had changed most would consider common sense localization and he also did SH2 but I'm unaware of any alterations he made) And in twin snakes the localizer didn't change anything and reverted back to how kojima wrote the script (with some exceptions. Some of blaustien's changes were kept like the "codec" no longer being called "wireless" and some of his technical terms/acronyms he added like "OSP")

I could be wrong about this though because I really haven't played in the twin snakes GameCube game since the 2000s. If I remember correctly you just double tap the weapon button twice to equip and unequip the weapon fast to shoot it right away.

I had got Metal Gear Solid when it came out me and all my friends played it and we loved it as for the twin Snakes I think it's absolutely awesome I love it too there's a place for both games the only thing they should have did in Twin Snakes would have an option to turn off the shooting in first person for anybody wanted that I have no idea why so many people b**** about this game what they should do is they should have released this and the original game in the HD Master collection I don't know why they keep this game locked on the GameCube this game would look awesome with some upscale textures and widescreen but anyways I just don't understand why people b**** about this game
I think part of the problem is the original code for the game was lost. They absolutely could reverse-engineer it, but I don't think that's money Konami is willing to spend. I have no problem with the cutscenes in fact I saw them as a reason to actually sit down and watch them because they were more interesting than the ones in the original but they weren't as realistic. I get it, I just appreciate that the game was made at all. The only cussing that really pissed me off was when otakon fell during snipers death scene. In fact I agree about the whole audio track in general I like the original voices much better
I agree with most of this video but I wanna point out that it's unforgivable what they did to the Mantis fight. You can litreally stay prone and shoot him in FPV because if his HP is high enough, he won't hijack it instantly like in the original. You can literally lay on your stomach and deal free damage this way and you are only vulnerable to his disc attacks basically. That is awful game design that did not exist in the og.
That original voice cast and the performance they gave is GOAT in video game voice acting. One of the very first, maybe THE first,...really iconic jobs. I think Kojima himself is hugely overrated. David Hayter criminally underrated.

I love MGS, but honestly I think this should have made more changes to the script than it did. Unpopular opinion maybe, but some of the original script is really clunky. A good example of this is Snake and the DARPA chief. Snake repeats way too much of what the "chief" says. This might be coming from a Japanese language thing where reinforcement/repetition is used for clarity/confirmation more than it typically is in English, but I don't really know. I would like to know what happened with the voice direction in TTS though, because it did almost feel like there was none at times.
Um twin snakes was better then the original by a mile. Noons actually hates it other than it being only on GameCube. That’s bullshit. They are a third party developer. Why only GameCube after all these years.

Gamers don't hate change and this is an overused statement. When talking about remakes, it's simply just that the vast majority of remakes are worse because they don't even try to stay faithful and true to the original game. You know why Resident Evil 1's remake is one of the rare good remakes? Because it's one of the rare remakes made by the original creator, so he does know what the vision of the game was supposed to be, unlike every remake made by different people (video games, movies, shows, etc) where they're obsessed with "This is MY version of it" which ignores the entire point of what their job was supposed to be.

I played this on PS1 between 50 to 100 times. I played on Gamecube once & never played either again. Looks like i need the PS5 version next.
