    This was strangely beautiful. I cried for death. The sadness in its eyes. The meaning is so profound.

      Seems like a parallel to an owner putting down their pet.

      You think so? Hmmm...sounds reasonable. But the first part with the bunny....I'd like to know what the creator meant when she made this.

    • @summerskull9379

      Daniella Ramdhanie I am sure there is more than one meaning. It's just the part at the end, where the deer is struggling to stand and walks towards death, as if asking him for relief from the pain. Of course, as owners we _want_ our pets to live forever but at the same time we don't want to see them suffer.

      You're right. I'd like to know how others interpreted this. It's such a fascinating concept that can impact everyone in different ways.

    I had to put down my phone and cry for a few minutes after this. It was so touching and heartbreaking. All I can think of is how lonely being Death must be, and the one time it found something it wanted to save, it found out that things can't live forever. And the doe knew that it was her time, she couldn't go on anymore, so she turned to her best friend, whom she trusted to help guide her to peace and rest. The music. The staging. The hug. The credits showing the doe at the end. Death's facial expressions despite the skull mask. Everything about this was well executed and simply beautiful. And I'm gonna go cry some more.

    People fear death because they fear the end of all things. But death is a part of the cycle of life. Without death, life would eventually become meaningless, for we judge things based on the likelihood we will lose them. I find great meaning in this animation. It is important to remember all the good death does for us, and not simply the bad. Death is the end of suffering, of prejudice and inequality. It is freedom from pain, from stress, from fear. In truth, it isn't death humans fear. It is the pain of dying, the fear of what comes after, and the terrible knowledge of what awaits our loved ones when we die.

      im only scared of what will happen, in what way ill die. will i be murdered, drown? i dont know i could have a slow and painful death which scares me a lot.

    • @KKLaurelye
      @KKLaurelye 7 років тому +19

      Every moment you are alive, you are dying. It is always slow and it is usually painful. Life is pain, intermixed with beauty, love and joy. On a slightly more material plane of existence, when we are dying in earnest, such as drowning, burning, bleeding out, our nerves are so overwhelmed with sensory data that we don't actually feel much at all, beyond numb. Think of it a bit like sitting down for a really long time and then standing. Your legs feel really weird, numb and kind of not all there. This is the moment before pins and needles, and it's essential the same feeling as dying.

    I don't get teary very easily but this is one of those incredibly moving stories of true love and friendship. I get slightly emotional at the end when the deer realizes she's no longer strong enough to stay with the herd, and in her final moments she looks at Death reassuringly, almost as if to say "It's okay, I'm ready to go now." And the tears begin to well as Death wraps his arms around her neck in a gesture that tearfully replies "I will never forget you." jeez, I'm glad this was a silent film, otherwise I'd be weeping like a child. the single most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

      I know you posted this 10 months ago, but i just kinda wanted to say that it's not an animation about animal cruelty or anything, all animals die in the end, as do we humans and as do plants. They don't die suffering in this video, in fact, they go rather peacefully.
      So now that you know that i hope you can bring yourself to watch this beautiful and meaningful animation :)

    "The Life Of Death" as Death goes about his daily job of taking the lives of animals in the forest when he comes across a lovely doe. He falls in love with her and can't bring himself to take her life and so they slowly become close friends. But in the end, the doe taught Death that dying is also part of Life.

      That's a very interesting interpretation! I like it. My interpretation was that all Death has done for all it's life was kill things, all it knew was death...until one day it went to go kill a doe and hesitated because he had begun to think about life....and then he decides to spend time with the doe and learn more about life rather than just death

    This is probably the best animation I have ever seen, the story is incredibly well told and is great at communicating emotion tied to the actions accordingly.
    This animation made me think about my Dog that we had to put down almost two weeks ago, this animation feels like it has let me understand that it's okay to die.. especially when it is peaceful.

    Death: Dear diary, today I found an interesting creature. I wanted to end it's life until I saw how beautiful her family was. She was not as scared as the other animals I apprehend, she will be a great acquaintance.
    Dear Diary, I have not yet ended this creature's life. I feel pity upon it once I will, but not yet. The creature told me interesting stories, she is a great friend to have. I shall end her life soon, but not yet.
    Dear diary, God has wished that I end this creature's life. I had refused, I guess my job could end but I do love the creature. she is my friend. my only friend.
    Dear diary, I hate myself today. if only I could touch and kill myself. I had ended the creature's life. She I sister herself, we had great moments together. I shall never forget the shimmer in her eyes the last moment I gazed in it. I shall never forget the tear I shed upon ending her life. She had a great family. I had a great friend. My only friend.

    Okay so yes the deer's family did leave her but that was because she was too weak to go with them, if you watch the video you'll see the deer getting slower over time because she's getting weaker. Also the deer did not commit suicide, but rather she accepted death.
    Also i think death needs a hug.

    If you guys didn't notice that he had spent many months with that deer and her family. She knew death was around her and had accepted it. he kept her safe and she gave his existence meaning. At the end when her family hops off you can clearly see she can no longer go on let alone stand because at that very moment she knows she ending with or with out deaths help. That's when she turns to confront her protector and friend. He wanted nothing but to let her live her life but she knowing she was at her end accepted his gift. with a kiss it started and with a hung it ended. Death tried hes hardest to keep her alive but time wore her down.

    Holy tears. I found this on Facebook and couldnt stop watching. Death appears to have this innocent love for life. The deer stared death in the face in her youth and decided to keep living. Years later her body begins to fail her and the simple pleasures of life become difficult and she will inevitably be a burden to her family so she left on her own terms with no fear. And Death carries on to observe the life that it is missing.

    I find it interesting and inventive that Death seems to have a mixture of traits visually, having both human and various animal-like features, such as the swimming motion when moving and the way Death laid down. It implies this is also Death in his younger age, as his form seems to be as fluid and will change as he needs it to, making it all the more saddening at the end.

    Manny people say that death is the reason your loved one is gone. The reason to your pain... To the dead ones, and the reason to the alive ones. Death sounds absolutely horrible, or is it..? In the eyes of Manny humans they see death as the reason your heart aches, what keeps you up at night, your fear... Well, I'm here to tell you that death is your savior. Unlike in the animation, death ends your life with a cause, either from natural pain, or pain caused from germs. (Sicknesses) death watches you as you perish, he/she waits until your body can't take anymore. Then he/ she sends you into a never ending sleep. Imagine this situation without death... Pain, pain, pain. That's all you would ever feel without death. Think about it, death puts you out of your pain, and watches you peacefully live amongst heaven. How would you feel if you visited your friend at the hospital every week, they are to hurt to speak, they can only stare at you with twitching eyes, Eventually you leave, you leave your friend in pain. Death is a beautiful thing, your mistake is the cause, and death is the affect. EVERYONE STAY SAFE PLEASE AND DON'T GET INTO TROUBLE!!!

      This is all only true if there's no such thing as an afterlife. If there is one (specifically a Hell), death does just lead to eternal pain anyway.

      Jascha Bull I think there will be an after-life because where will all the souls go? And you see, God is an Angel, Angels are the Heaven. God Is real, I believe in him. He Scarfaced for us. He saved us. So there will be an after-life. Don't worry. :)

    I feel like the doe taught him not only that Death is apart of life but to respect life. Before he was just kind of taking lives, never really got to know them or even look them in the eye. But she showed him her whole life so he would not only respect the lives he was talking but also feel for them too.

      This is the reason why there are useless romantic subplots in movies.

    • @williamhorner6147
      @williamhorner6147 8 років тому +9

      +Kevin O'Connell. I just got a different meaning from the animation I can ship it if I want to because I have all the right to don't be so insulting to peoples thoughts and opinions it's rather rude. If you have nothing nice to say don't bother saying anything at all. I found it romantic in some way when death met the deer and when the deer died that is why I shipped it You are not me and you will NEVER be me which is why you can't possibly understand why I ship it I don't give a damn what you have to say about the way I ship things because it is going to do nothing and it wont change the fact that I still ship it. the animation was lovely and me happening to be an artist I had a different interpretation of the animation. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion
