It looks like the Cowboys are starting a high school kid at quarterback. The Cowboys beat you guys 30-6 earlier when both teams had their starting quarterback. At even strength you were no match.
Love watching those old Redskin highlights to go back in time and remember what this team used to be and stand for. Can't come to grips with the Commanders these days with their poor ownership. Just isn't the same unfortunately.
I was 13 and a Cowboys fan. I was at my uncle's and after the fumble on the opening kickoff I said " well that's game " and it was ! Not a great day for the best rivalry in football. Well at least it was at one point
tbh I think it was a mistake to get rid of him. Williams was never really a consistently good QB. Yeah, he had one magical quarter in the Superbowl and that can never be taken away from his resume, but outside of that he was never really *that* great at that point in his career. Plus he was old and injury prone at the time that he replaced Schroeder. He played, what, one more year before he retired? I mean, it worked out for the Skins with Rypien, but I do wonder if Jay would have been a better long term investment overall.
@@IcedEarth426 Doug Williams took the Tampa Bay Bucs to the NFC Championship. He was a very good QB, on a all time horrific team. However, he was old and his best years were well past him at this point. Now, if you want to talk about inconsistent, that was Schroeder in a nutshell.
Totally forgot about the Baseball in D.C. banner. Blew my mind they as a kid they didn’t have one, and that they’d somehow lost 2 in my Dad’s lifetime before I was born. I later read that shortly after the Arlington move, the Orioles took all mentions of Baltimore out of their marketing and uniforms so they could more easily regionalise without worrying about any interference from a D.C. club.
It was a psychological tactic knowing the Cowboys rarely wore blue unless for a Thanksgiving game. That was real football full contact...things changed but not for the better. $$$$ rules these days more than ever.
Jay Schroeder is one of the most underappreciated Redskins ever - he was a great QB, won a lot of games for the Redskins and definitely deserves to be considered one of the great Redskin quarterbacks right behind Baugh, Jurgensen, Theismann, Kilmer, Williams and Rypien, and one of the 90 greatest Redskins of all time
He had one of the strongest arms that ever played with this team. Most importantly he was a winner. His personality was a bit cold but I rather have a cold winner than a friendly loser lol
@@rjam1974 I totally agree. He is one of my favorite skins if all time. It seems when Redskin fans hear his name, they groan. One of the things that hurt his legacy was the 1987 America's Game episode. Doug Williams talks really bad about him. Such a shame.
What excitement those games brought to Redskins fans...hoping to return to those glorious days. Ashame we can't bring back the Redskin team name. Maybe call the Tribes with a similar logo like a warrior holding a peace pipe in offering. Just my thoughts.
“Butchering” seems a little harsh. But, to address your concern - as time has progressed since the start of this channel the highlight videos have become longer as your pal RetroSkins gets more familiar with editing tricks and a better feel for how a full highlight reel comes together. As such, the more current videos are generally running 30ish minutes, which feels like a good length. It would be MUCH easier to post unedited complete games (editing the highlights takes hours / game). But the point of this channel is to provide more condensed flashbacks (not everyone has time to watch 2+ hour videos, and UA-cam provides analytics that demonstrate most viewers sign off quickly). Also, full length games at the high picture quality we strive for would be prohibitively large in terms of file size (not everyone has an unlimited data plan to watch 8-10 GB videos). If you are interested in watching full length games, there are plenty on YT to watch. Videos on this channel are not derived from YT videos posted by others, but come from a personal collection of recordings that predate the digital era, amassed and stored with time, care and dedication. RetroSkins is very protective of this collection, and offers no apologies regarding how much (or little) is to be shared. If that’s not satisfactory, the “Up Next” button is at your disposal.
I know we'll never get "Redskins " back....rumor has it new owners may Re-brand...."Redwolves"! Sooo much better than Commanders, it Sucks! I'd love "RedHogs" personally....
I honestly liked Washington football team no mascot. Still like the Native emblem, the name was just disrespectful imo but I could be wrong. best thing about this clip Cowboy fans were seen but not heard!!
Just listening to Madden n Summerall call the game brings back so many childhood memories
Watching Dave Butz's son carry his dad's helmet off the field like he always did nearly brought a tear to my eye.
R.I.P. Dave
It’s those little moments that remind us of why we love to look back.
I was in HS, and remember going to school next day, and my history teacher had 41-14 in big letters on chalkboard.....

Sign the petition!!
Jay could sling that damn ball and Gary Clark was a true beast,I was just with him the other day for superbowl week

Golden moments @ RFK stadium ,I just drove past it the other day almost shed a tear
I had forgotten how much of a arm Jay Schroeder had. Man, he could really sling it.
Yeah say what you want about Schroeder, but that’s a flat-footed 55-yard pass at 3:30.

@@IcedEarth426 I respectfully disagree. If you hadn’t traded Schroeder, you wouldn’t have gotten Jim Lachey back.
@@IcedEarth426 The problem was Schroeder was an ass and everyone hated him. Not good for the team in the long run.
2:26
Sensational catch and run by Clint Didier
And peep the "Baseball in D.C." banner at 8:30 - we had to wait awhile but we finally got it
Didn't realize Clint had some wheels

1980s - Redskins - RFK Stadium - Grass Field - Beating the Cowboys - John & Pat in the Booth. Need I say more
And the Cowboys wearing blue. You barely ever see that!
It was a psychological tactic knowing the Cowboys rarely wore blue unless for a Thanksgiving game. That was real football full contact...things changed but not for the better. $$$$ rules these days more than ever.
‘86 redskins the 2nd best team that season
THE GOOD OLE GLORY DAYS !!!
“We want Dallas!”
😀

He was nowhere near "great", average at best. He was prone to interceptions and was locker room poison.
You should have stopped at underappreciated.
He had a cannon, but he was very streaky.

Monte Coleman was always in the middle of everything.
16 seasons all as a Redskin. One of my favorite players.
ví el partido en vivo, y todavía duele feo!
I was in state jail in Tx with Dex, cool ass character.
I wonder how far Jay could throw the ball in his prime.
Everson Walls not being able to catch Didier😂
3:31 look at how he just flicks his wrist and throws that....
Something Theismann could never do.
Jay Schroeder was awesome
LovebeatingDallas.
Why are you butchering these full games down to 10 minutes?

If you have both games against Dallas from 2005, that'd be awesome
Maybe I do… 😀
Both of those games were epic! Especially the one at Fed Ex Field!
👍👍👍👍👍😡😭
Dallas should have let Reggie Collier play the whole game because Steve Pelluer was a total scrub!! 😡😡😡😡😡
Can u do 1983 season thanks
Kelvin Bryant was good
Unfortunately he was injury prone. If he had stayed healthy he could have been a top star for the team.
Too fragile, couldn't stay healthy.

Tom should have retired in 85.
This is all time REDSKINS! Madden and Summeral and old RFK…epic.
