I completely agree with your take on Chanel. They have been so focused on making Chanel lose its "old lady"reputation (according to vox populi, I never considered Chanel an old lady brand) that now they have swung the pendulum to the VERY young 20 something crowd and have lost their classic north. This collection looks almost like a toy store, a style that would appeal to very wealthy 20-23 year olds somehow still stuck in their 13 year old glittery-unicorn "aesthetic" phase.. Hopefully Chanel can develop a parallel marketing/designing path or swing back to the classics.
I love all the colors in the Chanel collection. I have a small luxury bag collection in neutral colors and one green. Looking for something special in color! My favorite style is to dress in colors and I’m ready for more colorful bags.💕
I love the new Chanel collection, its alot of FUN and I feel like its very joyful, like you - the little kid in me is just making me drool but right now I wouldn't purchase it. I think they need to consider creating 2 different lines to appeal to both. At the same time...I think they are still classic but do enjoy putting out those fun pieces once in a while.
I personally love anything that's pastel or sparkles... so I reallyyy love the new Chanel cruise collection and can't wait to see the bags in person😅 But I agree that it definitely doesn't feel like classic Chanel. Personally, I'm happy about this development, but it does seem weird to me why they would do it since my impression is that most Chanel customers have a more timeless, elegant, and less loud style than what these pieces represent And totally agree on Phoebe Philo's brand... safe to say I am not even going to consider buying anything
I also love sparkly bags and pastels! But in a certain way like Valentino has been killing it! If Chanel released crystal mini classic flaps I would be the first in the line 😂 I just don’t know but i don’t love it
Frankly, I disagree that Chanel should use color and texture more sparingly. When I saw this runway all I could think was “FINALLY something that doesn’t look like a knockoff of The Row”. Luxury fashion the past 2 years has been very boring and safe to me. I’m glad to see someone finally taking a risk and having some fun.
Thank you, Lou, for such a thorough review. This was a treat! That little black Chanel mini dress that you like would look so cute on you. I know you like that shape, because of your cream Lanvin dress. It would be a staple piece. I do hope you get it. You could wear it with diamonds and elegant shoes and evening bags. I have always loved Uggs and all things shearling. Surfer girls were wearing Ugg boots on the beach in their bikinis here in Hawaii in the 80s. I loved them then, and love them now.
I loved the heart bag (wasn’t able to get my hands on one) but I’m the kind of person who would use the hell out of one. But yeah, lately Chanel doesn’t feel like Chanel. It feels to me that they are inclining too much for trendy pieces which defeats the whole purpose of getting a >3k item
And the fact that they are putting so much stuff, too fast, without giving what we used to love, increasing prices like crazy. And every time you step into the store you feel like it’s express checkout, does make you want to focus on other houses more :/
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree with you with mostly everything. I have a very neutral wardrobe, a lot of the items don't seem to fit with my style. I was very disappointed with the Phoebe Philo collection.
That mum necklace was 5k for gold plated! 100% viscose? Those prices did not substantiate the quality but it doesn’t matter to the philo phones I guess. Also, it felt what would have been her next season at Celine 5 years ago? The cat eye sunglasses?
Great vlog! ❤ I have to say I totally agree with you on the change in direction of Chanel’s collections lately and the underwhelming & insane pricing of Phoebe Philo’s collection! Although, I understand that they are speaking to a different audience, who are looking for this aesthetic and will pay the price. Chanel is at it’s best when it stays classic, it’s why most of us go to Chanel and with Phoebe, the designs to me don’t justify the pricing. Hopefully, her next collection will be a little more of her old vibe. 😉
1st dibs has a Chanel XL travel bag if you were interested? yeah Chanel stores are really weird about filming, Maria Draganova films surreptitiously in the changing rooms ;)
Hermes didn’t invent the evelyn bag shape… it’s been used within horse management pre dating Hermes. That’s like saying no one can make tote bags because the neverfull is a popular version of it (which was created to compete with goyard’’s St Louis). The Celine box bag shape is repeated allot too ( it pre dates Celine obviously ) Also Chanel has done this shape before in the 80s as have many brands. This version is different enough. it’s not a big deal
such a small percentage of people in their 17-21 will be able to afford the Chanel collection! interesting, if they will be able to shift the grown people's perception
Thank you Lou for this video! I was so disappointed when I saw Pheobe Philo’s collection, I don’t like anything. And the prices, OMG!!! 😱 Crazy! I miss her era at Celine (not a fan of the Triomphe logo everywhere vibe). I relate to you on your takes about the “half Birkin”. No thank you.
Hi Hun! It's not called a half Birkin or top handle... it's a Birkin JPG and its size is massive. It came in only one size and it was 42cm. Not sure what size they plan to reissue it in, if that is the plan...
Thank you for the information! I read two vlogs that called it that so I’m glad to see the actual name of the bag! I wish I could correct the video once it’s uploaded 🫠 I’m actually excited to see the bag and how it looks like in person
I just took a super quick look at the looks from the latest Chanel runway show. My first thought was oh look big hair is back. The models' hair reminded me of Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer from back in the day. As for the clothes, the colors were too bright for me but I did like some of the silhouettes: the dresses/skirts a few inches above the knee (very wearable hemline) and of course that long skirt with the crop top. And I thought looks number 26 and 36 were more inclusive from a body shape perspective.
I LOVED the hair and makeup! And I forgot to mention that but yes, it felt way more body inclusive than before, not enough, but it’s a step towards the right direction 🥹
I thought it was just me until I saw that you and Cassie Thorpe had the same opinion on the star ⭐ bag. It sounds like a great idea but there's something about the execution... Maybe if it had been a hard side mini in metallic colors just for the holidays.
I bought a cute white and wicker/raffia bag from Kate Spade- it's perfect. I would not spend more than a couple hundred on one of these types of bags. Normal clothing brands have cute versions of them to buy. I'd go that route.
If I saw someone carrying some of the bags in this collection I’d think they picked up a good old fake from a market in Thailand. Honestly struggling to find anything I love in this collection.
The Evelyn bag shape is not exactly new, there have been plenty of bags before that were shaped exactly like that. The Chanel one is better though. The Hermes Evelyn looks like something cheap I would pick up at a local market in lack of something better. Never liked it one bit. This one is MUCH cuter.
I completely agree with you about Phoebe Philo’s collection.I’m not really into fashion but I own some clothes from Celine and are much much nicer and at a “reasonable price”.This collection is an absolutely nonsense. And the prices???? Mamma mia….
You are so well spoken and you should really work for vogue or something as a fashion commentator. I truly agree with all your points on Chanel and how they are moved from their classic chic vibe to this new world colors at the beach. I didn’t like the cruise collection either
I am so happy to say I am done with my chanel addiction. Theres nothing special about it now and by seeing it so much in the 2nd hand market, I feel detached from the bags I already own. I would rather buy unique bags from artisans that are family owned or have one store than a store like chanel. I am reconsidering where I put my coins as these luxury stores do not feel luxurious anymore to me. and who knows what they have been supporting, I do not want to put my money when they support the wrong things. Thats a no no for me.
I see what Chanel is doing, but the problem is the material. The durability. The shapes. They went the lil kid route versus 20 somethings . 20 somethings want backpacks, crossbodys that they can afford. They need a sport line where its nylon backpacks with cute hardware. A crossbody thats a decent size that is medium size not small. The 22s are the ugliest bag ive seen . People want a shape not a sack. The one thing I LOVE . is the Silver hardwear in bags. Long overdue!! Celine and chanel finally doing it. Celine needs to make a cute all black or brown backpack with cute hardwear. These brands need to realize the younger crowd need streetwear and sport lines. Comfortable clothes.
Hi Lou, love your channel. Very disappointed in Chanel. Since Karl died, it has continued to decline: lack of creativity, looks look cheap, not elegant or classy, lack of elevation. And same for the bags. Their prices keep going up, categorically, but the level of design, creativity, materials, continue to go down. Coco is rolling over in her grave.
Regarding Phoebe, in my mind she had a reputation of designing for real women. I really don't feel any affinity to anything in this collection and as a mother, the MOM necklaces deeply offend me 😂. About the prices, the less said the better ☠...next 😂. I actually love that Chanel "Evelyn" reinvention....while I don't like the Hermes Evelyn.
EXACTLY, I think we are over the super model 2000 era and we just want clothes for real people that we can see on the street and use ourselves, it's "ready to wear". I understand un the runway we want to see unique crazy bold statement outfits but I don't see how wearing those car wash roller pants is comfy or can be used more than a few times
I don't like none of this collection not one thing ok wait i like the chanel 22 mini crystal bag that's it i don't like any of the chanel 22 actually that's the first one i actually like
The Chanel Evelyn was so obvious. Ridiculous. I think I got turned off of this collection bec of that bag. Love bottega but nothing else really thrills me. Except for one you didn’t mention yet which is the Loro Piana L19. I really love this since it’s impossible to get an Hermès Kelly Pochette. Great review my friend. 🤍
OMG. I totally agree about being underwhelmed with Philo. I also get The Row vibes.
They have quite similar styles, I LOVE the Row & I liked what Phoebe did but it was not unique enough to grant the price, or at least not my style
I completely agree with your take on Chanel. They have been so focused on making Chanel lose its "old lady"reputation (according to vox populi, I never considered Chanel an old lady brand) that now they have swung the pendulum to the VERY young 20 something crowd and have lost their classic north. I’m old school Chanel. It never goes out of style.
I love this style of video from you! I hope you do it every so often, maybe seasonally? ❤️
I might consider that!🥹 I have always done the Chanel collections but never like a summarised what’s going on with every brand
I love all the colors in the Chanel collection. I have a small luxury bag collection in neutral colors and one green. Looking for something special in color! My favorite style is to dress in colors and I’m ready for more colorful bags.💕

Also to your question, I would not wear a star bag or the heart bag tbh-but I am 36 so maybe that is why.
I like the Chanel stars way more than the heart actually!⭐️✨
I personally love anything that's pastel or sparkles... so I reallyyy love the new Chanel cruise collection and can't wait to see the bags in person😅 But I agree that it definitely doesn't feel like classic Chanel. Also in LA in the late 90’s with Ugg boots.

ITS GOLD PLATED? I missed that! goshhhh
Cat eyes have always come in and out of style since the 50’s. They will always be around
@@katemiller7874for sure but they look soooo like the Celine version.
I agree! Also on the shorter side and would like it if brands made stuff for a variety of body sizes 😊
I love to hear your opinions 😊. I'm not a Channel fan in the least, but I love that you love their stuff.
Thank you 🥹🤍
@@JesuisLou *Chanel, not channel..I LOVE your Channel 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great vlog! ❤

Hahaha I just have this fear that they will get mad or kick me out 😂
I hated the shoulder birkin before but I need it in a cool color now 😍
Regarding to the "Evelyne"..love Chanel, but that's ridiculous. Chanel shouldn't need to copy Hermés. They stand for themselves and their own style.
I think taking inspiration and following styles that are popular is perfectly fine, but this one was just too similar 😂
Yes, absolutely@@JesuisLou

The half bag from Hermes , the shoulder Birkin is a big bag with a lot of space. I have the first release of 20 years ago .
I love your vlogs ,
I’m excited to see the re release! And hopefully get the chance to see it or try it on 😅

Omg someone may have already asked but I’m obsessed with that couch that looks like clouds! Where did you get it?
it's from Roche bobois :)
I think chanel “Evelyne” bag is so much cuter. I don’t like the evelyne at all but I would buy the Chanel one.
The JPG is a beautiful bag & you can get a lot in it ❤
Really enjoyed this video ❤
Enjoyed hearing your opinions. I agree with all of your opinions too which is interesting. Phoebe’s collection was definitely underwhelming.

I like it more than the Evelyn! Also Prada has a copy of the Evelyn too.
It’s much nicer
The star is giving SpongeBob big time
What are the Louis Vuitton version of the Chypre's called? I can't find them on their site! xx
Did you see the cruise denim bags covered in crystals? Thoughts?
Great video
I thought it was just me until I saw that you and Cassie Thorpe had the same opinion on the star ⭐ bag. It sounds like a great idea but there's something about the execution... Maybe if it had been a hard side mini in metallic colors just for the holidays.
Yes i agree❤
oh gosh!! that east west 22....i'm not a fan of the 22..but it just got even worse! 😂such an awesome summary video of new bags Lou!!!! 💖
Hi Jessie! hahaha I agreee it's just notttt for me either
Miu Miu has a pair of Satin and crystal slingback pumps like the Chanel ones?
I loved this video! I agree ❤with it all! Chanel cruise was. Not so great! I love the Celine bags!
I bought a cute white and wicker/raffia bag from Kate Spade- it's perfect. I would not spend more than a couple hundred on one of these types of bags. Normal clothing brands have cute versions of them to buy. I'd go that route.
Chanel doesn’t call the bag „Kelly“. It is „Nano Bag“

The Chanel 2024 collection looks like Jojo Siwa designed it. It would be a great collection for preteens, but not adults with money.
Omg 😂😂😂
Agree. Lil kid energy
Which one do you think is more luxurious than the other Dior or Chanel?
I like the too handle Chanel’s but that’s all
I completely agree with you about Phoebe Philo’s collection.I’m not really into fashion but I own some clothes from Celine and are much much nicer and at a “reasonable price”.This collection is an absolutely nonsense. And the prices???? Mamma mia….

Loved this video too! I'm rather shocked by the Chanel. The runway looks like a kid playing dress-up in a cheap fancy dress shop....
it was fun! but not my favorite cruise in the past years...

The Star Bag⭐️⭐️⭐️reminds me of the stars⭐️⭐️⭐️from Super Mario Bros. Nintendo Game lol😂😂😂. This new line is very childish to me.

Very disappointed in Phoebe Philo bag collection. Waited so long and now not interested.

Quality is terrible.
LOL I've not heard of anyone that likes the new Phoebe Philo collection. It's exorbitantly priced and honestly not that attractive.
I saw sooo many on Instagram just loving it, the price for me it's a major turn off

The stars…seems like the hearts were so popular they made a star. so they’re trying to just create merchandise instead of fashion 🥲
