    Got the Tuo button on Black Friday. Thanks for the discount Shane!
    I love this thing already. Set up was easy. It’s intuitive to use and it’s been flawless. My bedroom is lighted completely with lamps, there is zero overhead lighting. I use the Essential Nanoleaf bulbs for the variety of tone and color. The button by the door was the missing piece of the puzzle. This Tuo button is ideal.

    I have just received my smart switch today, I was so looking forward to this item.
    Unfortunately it doesn’t turn on or connect to my Apple Home. I looked to reset the button as per the instructions to see if that would help ? And discovered there was corrosion inside the device? Which I suspect is the reason why there is no response from the unit.
    I have no idea how a brand new purchase that was ordered and shipped from the Tuo directly and arrived today in dry packaging could come with such corrosion?
    Unfortunately I will need go through the boring task of trying to get a refund etc.
    It’s a real shame as I was really looking forward to using this in our home. I hope other customers have better luck.

    This looks very nice. However, I just wish one of these smart button manufacturers would make their button fit into a Decorah style face plate so it can sit next to (or in place of) other switches in a electrical box. The only one that does this is the Lutron, but without homebridge that does not work to control other smart devices. 7:25

    Greetings Shane. Wonderful video - as always. I'd like to share my thoughts. Anytime I used a THREAD based switches (I'm on iOS HomeKit) ecosystem, I've faced the same consistent issue - the battery drains too fast- and adds to landfills. Being frustrated by Eve switches, Wemo Thread controller, Flic etc - I switched back to ZigBee 3 with Aqara So, could you also check how much the battery life is on this one. I understand how THREAD works (but now not a fan) and the switch should be a child endpoint, but not constantly polling and draining the battery. Thanks.

    Question: will a single click only do one action, like open garage, but the single click won’t then close garage? We bought one, and its handy, and I swear initially a single click would both open and close garage, but now its not working, so I put double click to close, single to open. But just wanted to confirm please.

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  Рік тому

      Yes an no. At face value, each button action can only perform one task... whatever you set it up to do... there is not "toggle" option. You can however accomplish this when setting up your button action. To do this requires some basic shortcut actions. For example, when setting up the single click, instead of choosing the accessory, choose "convert to shortcut."
      Then use an IF action. IF garage door is closed > open the garage door. OTHERWISE > close the garage door.

    It's said somewhere that compared to zigbee you don't need a hub, but now it's said you need device like apple tv.. so it tredads doesn't connect directly to phone and need some central devices like zigbee? I know I heard somewhere that for threads you don't need central device.. now I am confused :(

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  11 місяців тому +1

      You will need a "thread border router." The difference with Thread and Zigbee is that you do not need a manufacturer's hub for Thread. A Thread border router may be devices that you may already have. If you are an Apple Home user, you probably have an Apple TV or HomePod already (both thread border routers). If you are a Google Home user, you may have a Nest Hub Max. Alexa user, Echo Dot... etc. You do not need a manufacturer's hub when using Thread devices. Take Philips Hue for example that uses zigbee. If you want to use Philips hue button with Apple Home instead of the Thread button in this video, you would need a HomePod or Apple TV AND a Philips Hue hub.
