  • Time for a weekend check-in as we get out on the water for some fishing then it's off to the mountain for some quick odds and ends.

AWSOME video. The fishing sure looked fun. And it’s always fun doing stuff around camp

Yeah we all had a pretty good time. We had to cut the camp footage a little short... didn't want to draw the video out too much longer than it already was with all the fishing.

It was a good day on the water for sure. We gotta give young Frederick (inside joke from the ETAR vid) his due... the kid caught some fish that day, that's for sure! We've got a pile of new videos in the works, just need a few more hours in the day!

Wonderful video, looked as though the fishing was a success. Great to see. It was also wonderful to see a little bit of an update to your food plots. What is your opinion on cover cropping early spring until late summer, and then fall plotting an annual? Is it really worth or is it more simple to stick to a perennial blend? Can’t wait to hear and possibly see how archery fairs for y’all. I’ve got evidence of deer movement but not many daylight sightings. As always thank you for what you do!

Spring cover crops for sure if planting a fall annual, though, there's nothing wrong with letting natural forage come up too but it just seems better tilling under a cover crop than weeds. We've used buckwheat, cereal grains, Whitetail Institute No Plow... definitely beneficial to have something in the ground for those warm summer months when weeds proliferate. A decent mix of perennials (60%) and annuals (40%) are the best plate at the table but that all depends too on how much ground you're planting. If you do go with a fall annual, try broadcasting the cover crop - namely winter rye - into it in early fall. It'll establish in time before winter and carry you into spring / summer looking good.
Good luck to you this season ! We're somewhat in the same position... a good bit of deer day and night but the bucks have been on vacation elsewhere apparently.
