Reminds me of a Parker Duofold Big Red.

Wonderful and honest review! If you would like to swap out the nib, please contact christinaperez@yafa.com and mention the link to your review with the regular occurrence of a hard starting nib.

You aren't saying "jowo" correctly. It's actually pronounced "yovo". "J" always gets a "y" sound, and "w" always gets a "v" sound. This also means, of course, that the brand "Kaweco" is pronounced "Kaveco".
Anyway, good review of a good pen. I've always had a soft spot for Conklin pens, and now that they have Jowo nibs, you can't go wrong.
I have two reasons for not using fine nibs. One is simply that fine nibs are very difficult to make as smooth as I like my nibs. You can almost always expect feedback with a fine nib, and I don't like feedback.
Two is that fine nibs don't display ink properties, be it shimmer, sheen, or shading, nearly as well as wider nibs, and one of the main reasons I use fountain pens is because I love fountain pen inks.
I have small handwriting, very small, but I still manage to use a medium nib very well. The medium nib is inherently smoother, and displays ink properties much better, so it's my nib of choice. Also, should a nib need smoothing, medium nibs are far, far easier to smooth yourself than are fine nibs.
Hard starts are also more common with fine and extra fine nibs because ink flow is more restricted. When you combine less ink flow with dryer inks, you can count on hard starts out of most pens.
This said, hard starts are often cause by not cleaning the pen thoroughly before the first use. And I mean THOROUGHLY. All it takes is the tiniest amount of grease left over from the manufacturing process to cause hard starts. If flushing with distilled water doesn't work, I add a drop of dish soap and try again. It's surprising how often this is the problem behind hard starts.
As for converters, I just bought a Platinum 3776 that, on a very good sale, still cost me $124, and it came without a converter. On one hand, it's annoying, but the truth is that nothing is free. If these pens came with a converter, you can bet the pen would cost a few dollars more.
The converter was $6.50. Because the 3776 uses proprietary cartridges and converter, I splurged and also bought an adapter that allows me to use standard international cartridges, or a standard international converter. This was another twelve dollars. So my $124 pen actually cost $142.50. Still a good deal, and well below street price for this model.

Thanks for the correction on the pronunciation! I knew Kaweco was pronounced with a V sound instead of the W but didn't connect that to Jowo. I will keep that in mind for future reviews.
I definitely agree that fine nibs and smaller don't bring out much in terms of ink properties which is why I use dip pens and make swatches of the ink when I'm reviewing it on my blog. I stopped doing ink videos because it was a lot of work and people were not really watching them.
I'm in the same boat. My writing is very small though I can adapt to a medium nib. I just have a hard time purchasing anything over a medium since I fear I won't use it often.
And I agree in terms of the ink converter. I personally never use a cartridge and always purchase a converter if it doesn't come with one. I know there are people out there who do use cartridges as their primary choice, but so many of us prefer bottles ink that I don't know why it's not standard to include a converter!
