Tim warns people, women especially, about standing too close to the speakers at their concerts . You'll love Elvira. They do it with the Oaks. The Oaks consider Home Free the boys that will carry on the Oaks legacy.
Oaks my damn boys all time all time all time....Leaving Louisiana In the Broad Daylight!! I mean c'mon man. They are freaking amazing. Actually been to the hometown anyway lol
7 years sober? Congrats! Can't wait for Elvira. All about that bass and Champagne Taste (on a beer budget) are great ones already mentioned. I'll throw in another Johnny Cash classic covered by them - Ring Of Fire (wait for it... lol you'll know what I mean at the end) Home Free videos are a rabbit hole you'll be glad you went down, lol
The music captures the train whistle perfectly, and the emotion that an inmate feels when they hear it! You preach woman, one day we gotta hear yer story. we love ya.
Just Jen. I just found your channel and subscribed today. I started my Home Free journey with Man of Constant Sorrow, too, and I've been hooked ever since. I'll be checking all your reactions. I hope this finds you happy, from one sober sister to another.
Full power to you for 7 years sober. I have a lot of respect for people who have been down that road and take the exit to a new life. Takes a lot of strength and commitment. Really respect your honesty about your life and the fact you are smart and strong enough to learn and not want to repeat it. Cute, funny, tats, and a bit crazy, and a good ear for music. What's not to like. Honesty is awesome. Just remember. Stress is the mind overriding the body's desire to choke the living S&*T out of someone who truly deserves it. Stress and I have had long conversations. Alas, it is illegal to kill them, so deep breath and move on. LOL. Hang strong, live long, lady.
Hey-Jen-hey-Jen-hey-Jen! You notice when Austin comes in with the high run, like after Tim's first low stanza; it almost sounds like his cadence is echoing the high train locomotive whistle?
The beatboxer is Adam Rupp, he does "drum solos" at the live shows. You should check one out because he is insane!! Home Free has song great songs including a cover of Honey, I'm Good!! Their video for Amazing Grace with Peter Hollins is awe inspiring along with Misty Mountains!! They also do a cover of Ring of Fire, both a video and live on the Sing Off season 4!!
Thank you! I am actually a single mother now! Best thing that’s ever happened to me!!! I just applied for my passport, but it looks like traveling abroad, won’t be until next year.
@@JustJenRx Come to Finland, the Heavy Metal Mecca of the World. Free accommodation for three (5?) days here in southern Funland (Finland) near to Helsinki. I'll pay for the gas. Life has a way, always.
I'm Johnny come lately 3 years after posting, but enjoyed this just now. Can't really go wrong with Home Free, imo. You mentioned being a fan of Johnny Cash doing this song. He's iconic, but the best rendition I ever heard of Folsom Prison Blues was done by Roy Clark, hands down! The man was pure magic with a guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, etc. Check it out.
On January 13th, 1968, Johnny Cash made history by recording a live album inside of California’s Folsom State Prison. The album, At Folsom Prison revitalized Cash’s career. But why did Cash decide to play two live shows at Folsom Prison? The song that started the prison obsession for Cash was his own “Folsom Prison Blues.” Written in 1953 while serving in Germany with the US Air Force, it was inspired by the 1951 film, Inside the Walls of Folsom Prison. 2 years later, Cash recorded the song for the Sun Records label in Memphis. It became one of Cash’s signature songs, and had one of the most iconic lines in country music history; “But I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.” (Johnny Cash wrote & performed song. Stated in an interview that he tried to think of the craziest thing to put in the song came up with the line) At Folsom Prison was released in May, 1968. The single, “Folsom Prison Blues,” hit the Billboard Hot 100 on May 25th, and the Billboard Country Charts a week later. It was re-released & an instant success peaking at #1 on the country charts, breaking into the mainstream Top 40. The album followed suit, hitting number #1 the Top Country charts & #13 on the Pop Album Charts. It was certified gold in October. At Folsom Prison won 2 GRAMMY awards for Cash. His second and third respectively, he won for Best Album Notes (documented by LA Times writer Robert Hilburn, and photographer Jim Marshall), and Best Country Vocal Performance, Male for “Folsom Prison Blues.” At Folsom Prison has been acknowledged by Rolling Stone, Blender, Time, and Country Music Television as one of the greatest albums of all time. After achieving triple platinum status from the RIAA in 2003, the Library of Congress chose it for addition to the National Recording Registry. It would seem to all who heard it, that Johnny Cash’s decision to record live at Folsom Prison had paid off. Regarding video: For Home Free, this was either the first collaboration done remotely due to Covid. They did their own individual video/doing the lighting/makeup/lip syncing & sent them in to get masterfully connected together as a joint video. Notice if hadn't: - Height The height charts, they are all over the place & changing throughout. (Are any of them really 4'6" or 6'8"?) -Appearance Rob & Austin seemed to be in for a 'misdemeanor' crime as they're dancing & seem relaxed Tim & Chance seem to be doing serious time? Seem more serious less movement Rupp seems crazy - Jumpsuits Some loose, others tight (Adam's looks like it's a onesie for a baby) - Tim AND Chance BOTH sound a lot like Johnny Cash in this video - Tim Makeup & (he stopped dying his hair) gave a drastic look to give older ghoulish hollowed evil look Additionally, think one of first videos & started keeping hair natural ---Low Note While Tim is hitting the last low note, he has a devilish grin while doing it - Rupp (beat boxer) He was acting like a crazy man throughout (walking all over the cell while everyone else is staying in place) *Percussion IT'S NOT STANDARD PERCUSSION THROUGHOUT! YOU'LL HEAR IT if go back & listen - There's a sound of Adam prepping a shotgun! (You even looked at it, not realizing he was making the noise) - He's NOT doing high hat rims, it's the actual sounds of a train riding on railroad tracks plus periodically the clinking noise going over the metal connectors listen to this: ua-cam.com/video/aeuLArBAiFI/v-deo.html THEN replay the song you'll hear it! -WHY trains? They're purposely using the sounds as Johnny Cash was known for 'prison/railroad songs' Railroad songs? Cash stated when growing up heard the trains in the distance daydreamed ability to go wherever to follow dreams. Same reasoning those in prison could hear the train & think could take them away. Hence railroad songs.
-Arrangement Only Tim & Chance are sounding country doing the melody. The rest are doing more of a jazz style arrangement. The tenor duo is the one putting a modern response twist as well as using jazz chords.
Hey Jen there is one home free video that you should check out they do a cover of Thank god I’m a country boy it’s soo good and it’s funny as always stay safe and lots of 💚coming from Philadelphia 😘
So you like Home Free and you like ear-gasms... you need to check out their Crosby Stills and Nash cover of "Helplessly Hoping". They absolutely kill it with that one. Great reaction Jen. Good message too.
Okay, now you HAVE to watch their "All About that Bass"! (And, since you seemed to really enjoy Ray Stevens on your live stream, you should check out his "The Mississippi Squirrel Revival". But be ready to laugh you "bass" off!)
Great reaction! Check out Rimg of fire 🔥. Tim the bass did a collaboration with Peter hollens doing Misty Mountains from the Hobbit. It will blow your ears away! Home Free also did a fantastic cover of Country Roads by John Denver. God bless!
This is one of their quarantine videos. They live in 3 different states. Each one recorded his audio & video part in his own home/studio, then their amazing producers put it all together. They put out new content regularly during the quarantine. They certainly helped keep me sane during all that mess. Love all their videos. Some of my favorites are "Hillbilly Bone", "Land of the Free" (an original), "American Pie" (featuring Don McLean), "My Church"....oh heck, anything they do! (BTW, they're just messing with us with those height charts. They're all between 6'1" and 6'4".) Enjoying your reactions. Just subscribed!
No. In their very first song, Chris attempted beatboxing then they concluded it made more sense for them to switch because Chris was a trained vocalist and Adam isn't. Adam taught himself using some VHS tapes to start with and then just obsessive repetition of a sound till he got it just right (He was doing this while in college. His roommate moved out in the first month. Can't imagine why).
Beat boxer Adam won two world championships for his vocal talents, I hear. I love this version, I even think Johnny would have enjoyed it. Oh, Elvira; my mama makes me play that one over and over because she loves Oak Ridge Boys and now she's a Home Fry, too. It's so funny; she's 89.
Austin, the guy with a voice like butter, sings the lead in “When a Man Loves a Woman”! You should do yourself a favor & check it out! The just released Patsy Cline’s song, “Crazy” and he sings the lead on that one too! Dare you not to swoon!!!

This is one of my favorites of theirs. We figure Tim did the crime (bass) and Adam (beatboxer) belongs in the insane asylum, the others are accomplices. Don't pay attention to the height charts…they’re all wrong although the boys are tall, all over 6’ 1”. Tim cut his hair too during the pandemic and let some gray show so he looks different in the newer videos. Home Free is wonderful. Try Helplessly Hoping, Die a Happy Man, What We Ain’t Got. Good reaction Jen.
Oh I think Johnny Cash very proud with this.Oh and you want more low from Tim, then I got 2 videos for ya. Now that you mention it's All About that Bass they actually do a really fun and funny cover of that song. You may have walked right into that one.
It helps that Tim sings his part as "All about that me".

The term you wanted to describe Adam Rupp is "vocal percussionist."
Aka… human beat box 😁😉
Rupp doesn't use this, because he does way more than just percussion. His words.
