Hi mr.kurt we are the band that wearing the yellow tshirt and blue pants thankyou for being part of your vlog sir and we surprised that your talking tagalog sir,by the way sir we are DNK DRUMBEATERS from griarte mandaluyong i hope we meet again sir, ingat ka lagi sir.
Thank you, @TagalogKurt for sharing this vlog and giving us a glimpse of what Mandaluyong City looked like at present time. Being away from the Philippines for so many years, we haven’t seen the highly urbanized infrastructures and well-developed Mandaluyong. So many things have changed now, especially in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Back in the day, Taguig used to be a small fishing community, which easily gets flooded when it rains heavily. And now, it became a hub for emerging businesses in Metro Manila and well-known for its glitz and glamour shopping district. Seeing the jeepneys, the Flores de Mayo and the busy roads in Manila truly gave us the nostalgic trip down memory lane with a strong longing to go back home. Missing the Philippines a lot. It has always been so refreshing to watch your vlog. You are so carefree and indeed comfortable living outside your comfort zone. You embrace uncertainty and unpredictability, and you approach life with an open mind and adventurous spirit. Keep your vlogs coming. We love your positive vibe, Kurt. Your avid viewers from Illinois, Josephine & Jocelyn
"Sagala" refers to a traditional parade held during the "Santacruzan," a religious and cultural festival celebrated in the month of May. The Santacruzan is part of the Flores de Mayo, a month-long festival dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
Wifey and I stayed right there where you filmed this at Novotel Suites Manda, since our SMDC Jazz Makati condo’s AC was broken. We absolute loved the view and the service. We love Makati, Alabang, Mandaluyong, and BGC/Rockwell areas since they resemble Manhattan, NYC USA . We are going to semi-retire at Tagaytay and Makati, splitting the time between the USA and the Philippines! Mabuhay ka, TagalogKurt! 🙏😎🤩😍🥰 By the way, Kuya Kurt, it’s customary for Filipinos to say “Ingat” or “Mag ingat ka” when you depart, meaning “be careful” or loosely translates to “safe travels.” Just so you know. Those plants you showed, I believe, are called Water Lily. You can see them just float around freely in Pasig River. You threw me off when you said “mesa” is “mass.” “Mesa” is actually “table.” “Misa” is church “mass.” “Masa” is people “mass” or “masses.” That church is actually called Parish of Our Lady of the Abandoned, but there are people there! 😂🤣🤩😎
Hi Kurt. Great video! With Bubble Tea or Boba, there’s always an option to select the sugar level as well as the ice level. And this is not only specific to the Philippines. It’s also in countries that have real Bubble Tea or Boba Shops. Also. Just as FYI, for Catholics the Month of May is devoted to The Virgin Mary which is why they have Flores De Mayo( May FLower). That’s why they have a mass(misa) in the Catholic Churches in honour of Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ.
All I can say to you Kurt you are Amazingly bond with the pinoy locals 👍just keep it up for your very nice Content specially all the carinderia… watching from Chicago 🇵🇭🇺🇸🇵🇭🇺🇸 thanks Kurt for showing all the beauty of the Philippines in the world. Take care buddy 👍
Galing mo magtagalog Kurt! Impressive! Pinoy people will love you. You know how to interact with them. Goodluck to your channel. And naway dumami pa ang subscriber mo. ❤😊. Enjoy and keep safe always.
Nakaka miss ang mandaluyong. Thanks for showing us the places there, ang damin nang nabago! Try the malaboni kainan and the bulalo restaurant in front of mandaluyong hospital. The pandesal sa private rd, barbecue aa victorino. The green stuff sa pasig river are water lillies.
Sagala pertains to the beautiful ladies dressed like princesses parading in a procession called Santa Cruzan which happens during Flores de Mayo ( Flowers of May) in which devoted Catholics offer flowers to Mary to honor her.
sugar level it is the level of sugar you prefer to put in your ordered tea or milk tea usually kuya kurt it ranges from low to high level or some times represent by percentages such as 25%, 50% and 100% they usually ask once you complete order (some customers daw kasi is diabetic so they are controlling the sugar intake)
That’s my hometown, Brgy Hulo Mandaluyong City. It looks really different now. The other side of the Pasig River is Makati, you can explore Makati Ave there’s a lot of restaurants and bars there. I miss the Philippines. I hope you’re enjoying your interactions and exploration in the Philippines. I Love your contents.
Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May), is Catholic celebration all over the world. We usually parade or hold a procession for the Virgin Mary, and crown her image with flowers. Santacruzan, a beauty pageant depicting the finding of the True Cross by Queen Helena, mother of Constantine the Great is a Philippine only Tradition, held after Flores de Mayo. Many are confused about the two Catholic events, but technically they are 2 different/distinct events.
SAGALA is actually the parade featuring beautiful women and handsome men in beautiful attires like the the one that has just passed by. The SAGALA is in connection with the may flower festival, a catholic festival..
Mandaluyong is progressive indeed! A few years ago, I worked in Ortigas Center (Part of Pasig City). Every night going home to Cavite, I would walk to the other side of EDSA (Part of Mandaluyong City) to catch a bus. In between, I had to pass through Robinson's Galleria mall. A small corner of Galleria where I would enter in is actually part of Pasig City, then the rest belongs to Quezon City. So, what happens is, I enter Galleria in Pasig, wallk through the mall in Quezon City, a few steps after I exit, in the middle of the overpass connected to the mall, I enter Mandaluyong area....So, in a matter of 2 minutes I would have traversed three different cities!
If I remember Philippine history in high school, the Spaniards allowed/incorporated some pagan practices while teaching Catholicism that's why during the sagala, there are drums and sometimes dancers wearing native costumes paraded along with religious crosses and sculptures. Flores de Mayo is the spring festival equivalent, Flores (flowers) de Mayo (of May).
13:19 Gawa Hindi Salita = Action Not Words. The statement below it I couldn’t make it out due to lighting but something about a “mini park” and possibly the name of it. It was cut off.
Santacruzan commemorates Helena’s (Reyna Elena), mother of Constantine the Great, search for Jesus’s cross. Sagala refers to the women who participate in the Santacruzan parade.
New follower here. Do you have a shirt with your UA-cam channel? If not, there’s a lot of places there that could do it for you. Love your content. It brings me to places that I’ve never been before and may not even dare try to go 😊. Take care bro!
Omg thx for this video Tagalog Kurt! I invested in a condo in 2017 and it will be ready 2026 in Mandaluyong! Can you share how far you are from Pioneer Woodlands Condos in Mandaluyong?
A sagala or santacruzan is a Catholic parade a tradition that is done to remember the journey of Queen Helene the mother of Constantine in her quest to find the actual cross of Jesus Christ
Kuya kurt... wala kapang upload today ano... ikaw talaga nasa cr ka na naman siguro kuya kurt kaya dipa tapus mag upload heheeh waiting your upload for june.2 sunday 2024
Kuya i think ibig sabihin ni Ate sa sugar level eh kung gusto nyo po extra sugar(mas matamis) or konti lang asukal(less sugar less sweet). Tama ba ako kuya across the river is the Guadalupe area?..
Girls, who joined as sagala are chosen by the committee who funded the sagalahan. Usually, the girls are picked from every family of the barangays. But beauty is a must. The Flores de Mayo or sagalahan, organized by the municipality are bigger than the barangays. The Mayors invited celebrities to join their Flores de Mayo. There's also a sagalahan for gay people. It's interesting to watch them because they're like beautiful women sagalas.
Sayang, if you somehow managed to participate in a sagala as an escort to one of the queens, then we'd have Kuya Kurt in a barong. (Also, you might consider handing out cards with your socials on them. That should be an easier way to get the word out.)
What were you a missionary of when you first came to the Philippines? It’s a pity I still yet to see you scrolling around the more destitute part of the country. At any rate, I so love your vibrant interaction with the locals despite your self-confessed introvert personality.

Hey Kurt. Don’t take any offense to this. But it’s a bit awkward when you say “pa shoutout”. It’s like you’re asking them to shout YOU out. I believe the correct term would be “shout out ka” for short or perhaps “gusto mo mag shout out”.
Aaaahhh okay nagets ko na. They kept saying "Pa-shoutout" to me so I thought it just meant the action of shouting someone out. So yung mas tama is "shout out kita" or "gusto mo ng shout out"?
@@tagalogkurt no problem kuya. I love your videos. I watch them everyday. Thank you for loving out country and our people. And I say “our” because you sir are also a pinoy if it hasn’t already been said.
