I have used the Bento on one trip, but found it super heavy to carry around when my main bag was checked. I also found it a bit tight with the items I need to carry on the plane - travel CPAP machine, meds that need to be kept cold (in a small insulated water bottle), electronics - and my regular meds. No room for much else and it is a heavier bag to start with. I love the concept, but not sure I will keep it.
I bought this bag and I'm now trying to sell it on Market Place. I find the duffle style to be difficult and awkward to carry. I also can fit more in my Samsonite 20 L backpack, which is so much easier to carry and was cheaper. The Bento Bag has no wheels, and you either have to wear it on one shoulder or carry it by hand. Wearing it on your shoulder puts weight on your frame unevenly. Carrying it awful because it gets heavy. For the huge price, I would not recommend this bag to anyone. But that's just my personal experience. For the record, I got the older V3 version on Amazon for $150. Still not worth the price. I currently have it listed for $75. Nobody has even inquired about the bag. Nobody.
I purchase one as well and when you put the laptop in there it takes up too much real estate and it does not pack as much as my underseat pro items which I have 2 of. So I do have buyers remorse as well. Even my Lovevook bag from Amazon holds MUCH more.yet the Nomad looks nice and more like overnight or car travel.
I absolutely adore this bag. I have the Version 4 with the leather trim, not the one she is demonstrating, which appears to be the V3. I always use my Samsonite collapsible wheels with this bag and a Longchamps Expandable tote. Very convenient, chic, lightweight, and both bags fire on regional air jets. As long as the bag is attached to the wheels, it counts as one bag. I highly recommend it.shoulders trap. Edited to add the it is the only decent personal item bag that EXACTLY fits United Airlines' 17" personal item length.

I would love if they made a travel backpack for a personal under the seat. Yes..they do have one, but it doesn't work for carrying clothing for several days. I prefer backpacks for air traveling. The bento bag for me works better for car travel.
That tray table pocket is absolutely brilliant! I usually pay extra to get a front bulkhead seat ( an extra charge of up to $200 on Canadian airlines), but I do use the tray table organizer if I don't manage to snag that seat. I got the original version of the Bento bag back when it was on Kickstarter, and I thought it was well organized, but somehow, I always end up finding something else works better for me as my personal item. I do use it as my 'just-in-case' motel bag that always lives in my car though. That is always in my trunk just in case I find myself having to stay somewhere unexpectedly.
I bought one of the tray table pockets but have been unable to use it as the last 6 flights I have been on have had a tray that folds in half before folding back up upon the seat back. The pocket doesn't work so well on those.
I have a bento bag and enjoy its organization and ease of packing. It is a little long and will stick out from under the seat, but I’ve not run into problems with it. I have to agree with other commenters though, it gets heavy to carry if you aren’t sitting it on top of a roller bag. I find myself switching it back and forth from hand to hand.
I have had the Nomad Lane for 3 years and many many trips. I don’t necessarily pack it as they suggest. I put about 3-4 days of outfitters on one side, and my husband does the same for the other side. He then uses it as his personal bag, and I use either my Lovevook pack which I love… have two sizes of it, but also just by the Nomad Lane backpack for smaller sizes needed. This totally works for me. I have packed for a one week holiday just for me, in this with a small back pack for personal items. LOVE IT
You know that once you get through TSA security, you can move that liquids bag out of your personal items bag & into your bigger carry-on...also, I have that same tray cover/sleeve and I actually put all the things I plan on using on the plane into the sleeve pockets before I even get on the plane so I don't have to dig through my bag on the floor to locate those items. And, if weight is an issue, and that new personal item bag is already so well-padded, I bet you could store your laptop in the padded bag sleeve where it is meant to be stored, and it should be well protected, saving weight & space. Just some ideas...
I just got that bag. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to New Zealand in November. I also have that pill container. I've had it for like five years and I love it!

I bought the Away bag that is very similar to this and I do not like it. I find that I love a backpack (with a trolley sleeve) is just so much more convenient. It was awkward to carry, even on my suitcase. Thanks for the review!
When I choose a bag I always look for practicality, it needs to match the majority of my wardrobe and be able to hold my essentials, and the *luxrul* delivers just that.
Absolutely yes on the pill organizer. That would be a nice upgrade from the ziplocks I use now. I love the look & clamshell opening of this bag but I use a backpack to distribute the weight of the liquids and electronics evenly or it's a one way to Aches and Pains City! Someone asked if there's one that fits under the seat. I use the 26L Away Outdoor Backpack and it's going strong.
I have a similar bag in a dupe brand. I love it. It fit everything I needed easily. I only have one “good” shoulder so can’t really carry a backpack. I found going through security was super easy and finding my things also super easy.
I do like this bag but I have only used it once. My carry on (that it was riding on) had to be gate checked so I ended up having to carry this bag by hand. I’ve found myself reaching for my Aer backpack after that experience. I do like the bag and I may use it for car trips or another flight where I’m guaranteed overhead space.

I have this bag, but don’t use it for my personal item bag. I have purchased the KROSER Carry On Underseat Multi-functional, 16 inch as my personal item bag. I am older and wanted a personal item bag with wheels small enough to use on Breeze airways if I choose to travel that way. The Bento will be my carry-on because I will be able to lift it up to the overhead storage and the sleeve will let it ride on the other bag.

I wouldn’t be able to handle the strap across the body. I bought on of those backpack style open at the top bags for my uk trip. I did bring more things than I needed.

However, I'd like to see something for those of us who manage to pack in a wheeled carryon bag for the overhead and then just bring a small purse with our entertainment and important items for at our seat. My personal item, a zipped Love Bag is in my carryon wheeled bag with the emergency items that I need if my bag is checked. Just pull it out before checking if needs must. Otherwise, I am just juggling a small purse with my wheeled carryon. A 15 lb PI is way too heavy for this septuagenarian (considering what your carryon must weigh as well) although I started this way before my 70s. My wheeled bag is equal to or less than 20 lbs. So, can you pack lighter, but not stuff your carryon? I'd like to see how you do that as well.
If you also have a wheeled carry-on suitcase that you're taking on the plane, you don't have to worry about your shoulders as you will be using the trolly sleeve & pushing it all in the airport and onto the plane as one unit.
Love the bag but unable to afford it at this time. I cannot use a backpack. I feel like I am always digging to the bottom and it hurts my back to wear one. I prefer a tote or whatever with a trolly sleeve
Domestic flights in Australia are 7 kg limit for carry on in total. You can pay extra to bump the weight up to 10kg. It has been a while since I have flown anywhere but I’m sure this is correct.
I've had a bit of a problem finding small containers for lotions or liquids.. I see you show one here. What brand do you buy or where do you find some very small containers (1-2 oz) that won't leak or your product (ex tinted moisturizer does leak out of or dry up when you use them.
To Canadian travellers…it’s too big for a personal item. It doesn’t fit into the Air Canada or Porter Airline personal bag sizer. Sad because this bag is a beauty.
How do you choose the makeup you take with you on a trip? My weaknesses are shoes and makeup and underwear lol... I get so worried that I will need some pair of shoes or makeup that I do not have with me. lol What is your approach to these specific type items. I find it most helpful to have a bag with water bottle pockets. But this does look fairly handy.

Try Muji or Litesmith for tiny containers. Contact lens cases are great for serums and lotions too!

Yes. The Version 4 (She is demo-ing the V3) has a very nice padded shoulder strap, and the carry handles are long enough to carry on shoulder too.
