Pure Music Hall. Love her. She was very badly treated in her last years (by the media and the business) who identified her as being unprofessional and badly behaved. It is quite clear she suffered from dementia, and it’s a shame she was dismissed at the end of her career in that way. She was a unique talent. No to everyone’s taste and not always served brilliantly on TV, but even in some poor vehicles she shines.
I remember this the first time round and it's still very funny. Everyone got insulted and made fun of, black, gay, the womaniser etc...... And that's the point, back in the day we were all the butt of jokes because we all have characteristics that comedians can use as material. In effect we were laughing at others but also ourselves too. Note Hylda even did the big t*ts joke woman to woman. She was very clever, I doubt there are many actors who could pull off such a performance today. I'm sure some people will be offended but you have to remember, these were some of the first TV shows which actually had gay characters on a TV show. It was opening up cultures which had existed for centuries and putting them in popular entertainment. Great to see this again.
Theres a lesson to be learnt at the end. Never let useless wicked people het you down. I like how she bounced back. Love that song. Lyrics and music by hylda baker
