Treasure Island, Banyak Islands

Treasure Island is one of Sumatra's most fabled right hander's, offering rides of over 200 metres long as well as three tube sections. "Treasures" requires a large south swell to work and is a relatively user friendly, very perfect, mechanical right hander, best surfed around head high or bigger and on the higher tide. This wave is the reason to visit the Banyak islands and although it doesn't break every day, the wave truly has it all, from soft almond-shaped faces, easy tubes, challenging sections, all set against a mouth watering backdrop to something similar to that of Jurassic Park. And the best way to increase your chances of scoring this amazing wave is to stay on one of the 3-4 charter boats that operate in the region. It's worth noting there are no surf camps on the island. Indeed “Bangkaru" is one of the most incredible places on the planet. It is wild. Remote. And a globally important nesting site for endangered sea turtles & protected against any development there.
