This is part of a project that me and a handful of people are working on, essentially being our take on the EXE Rerun songs!

Just like Third Party, I absolutely LOVE this song, so I knew I had to do something to do this song justice and let me tell you, it was so worth it!

Friday Night Funkin' is a Newgrounds rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel originally created for Ludum Dare 47. Programmed by ninjamuffin99 with a soundtrack produced by Kawai Sprite and artwork created by PhantomArcade and evilsk8r, the game can be played on Newgrounds or played/downloaded for free on Itch.io.
The plot of the game centers around Boyfriend trying to hook up with Girlfriend, but her ex-rockstar father Daddy Dearest doesn't approve of him. It's up to Boyfriend to rap battle his way through him and anyone else that stands in his way so that he can finally get freaky! Think you got what it takes?
Friday Night Funkin' is an ongoing project that will continue to receive updates, bug fixes and new content. A full version of the game is currently in development, having been successfully funded via a Kickstarter campaign. Check the changelog here for information on the latest updates. @@JudeEaleyvery normal occurrence, it’s a pain to rap battle it away but it usually is done in about 5 minutes. Still annoying though.
A lot of mods tend to forget about adding visuals and it kinda ruins the experience but this mod served it well especially with those camera zooms, props to guys for real

Bit of a hot take but I kinda love how the tempo changes at 3:51 or so. It shows that Zalgo now means business as he mutates Sonic into his final form.

You should really make a custom note type that works on both the main singer character and the GF character so your charts aren't clogged with doubles.

The effort you and the others who helped make this song/mod was unfathomable and I want to say I loved how it wasn't like the other takes and it had new sections, emotion, and Sonic and Tails trying to resist being possessed by Zalgo and overall that makes it the best LAST CHANCE I have ever seen because of this,Keep up the amazing work 👏 🎉❤🔥 you did amazing!

I ADORE the section you did with the part that sounds like the drowning theme on Angel Island and the part that comes after that in Green Hill Zone, foreshadows the fact that Zalgo!Sonic is LITERALLY Sonic.EXE
although, I have two suggestions:
1. during the higher "CHAAAAAAAANCE!" vocals, maybe you could have Sonic's spirit appear next to Zalgo!Sonic like what you did with Tails' spirit earlier during his solo?
2. for the very end (like when the song ends, that drop / beat), you could have it show the flashback from Too Slow with X holding his victims on puppet strings, to foreshadow the future like you did earlier

This is ZAWESOME. The actual amount of effort put into this project is baffling, the artstyle, the spritework, the amount of thought put into the song with the new banger segment, nice charting and SMOOTH transitions. New vocals are really clean, love the touch of having the authentic to the OG game font. If anything I can recommend adding subtitles during the vocal segment, everything else is zawesome and incredibly high-effort. It's Zalgoing time 🔥

i am a firm believer that Zalgo is the Sonics version of ZAZA in this song and both sonic and tails are both on a TRIP and we are seeing both "POVS".

I can't stress how fucking excellent this all is. The only honest critics that I had is the part where zalgo says his name feels a bit underwhelming. The drowning part after is excellent, but him saying his name doesn't feel as impactful. That's my take at least. Besides that, as one other person I've seen say, having sonic's spirit join in when zalgo's saying chance towards the end would be sick. Either way, THIS FUCKING SLAPS! Also I love the fact you force it to go full screen when it says "Open Your Eyes." Overall, I Enjoy this.

What if the notes for the foreshadowed true form during phase 1 were invisible? (Clarifying, I mean the notes that make the slightly transparent true form during phase 1 sing. I want those ones to be invisible, it would be pretty cool.) (Also just remembering the transparent characters during phase 2 as well, would be cool if a similar thing was done for them.) (Correction: not just phase 1, not phase 2 alongside, just the whole thing, just for all transparent characters. xd)

I just realized that Zalgo while in his true form as Sonic when doing his right pose is using his finger to tell Tail to get closer to him. As if he is taunting him. I just thought that was a nice touch.

Hey! I enjoyed your take, but I wanted to mention some pointers and stuff:
I think this is pretty cool for the most part until the orchestral-heavy section after Zalgo's voicelines. The flashes of other songs don't really making sense, but it is a fun effect and is mostly harmless to the story, so I don't really mind that much. My main critique is with Tails' flashbacks/references during the V2 section. Firstly, Tails should not be going through Green Hill Zone or Angel Island zone because the original Sonic.exe creepypasta is a SEQUEL to Zalgo's story, not a prequel, lol. Also, I'm not even sure if the stories are even connected in the Rerun universe, but that still doesn't really affect what I'm saying. What makes this goofier is that you are showing flashbacks/references to Tails' life when... that isn't Tails. That is Sonic in Tails' body after switching places with Zalgo. This is even confirmed in the ending of the original creepypasta, when Tails comes back and pushes Sonic (as Tails) into a wall of spikes, thinking he is Zalgo. The real Miles isn't anywhere in this song, so Sonic should not be going through any of Tails' past experiences, which makes this even more odd.
All and all, the stuff nearing the end is pretty silly and doesn't really make sense lore-wise, but still a pretty cool video :p
P.S: if you ever try to come back to this and add anything, you should find a background that matches the ending of the creepypasta too! It'd make it even cooler!
I think the flashing image part is very cool but i know a way to solve that lore based issue with it. You could add faded words above them "A broken future"
Like a reference to how tragic and broken the future will be because of sonic.exe. That way, it's not flashbacks but instead foretelling the future. Also for the chasing part. Instead make tails look confident and determined to show thst its the actual tails trying to confront his fake.
@@monoglave5973 This kind of solves the timeline part, but, like, it still wouldn't make sense for Sonic to be going through what Tails will experience in the future. That is still pretty goofy in my opinion. Also, there's no clean way to indicate who is inside of Tails' body. Even if there was a good way, the fact is Sonic and Zalgo are still the ones at battle in this part and Tails is already out of the picture before the song begins, so Tails' presence at all is still pretty weird. I think the best approach is to just find things to flash to from the game itself and switch things to Sonic's (as Tails) perspective instead of actual Tails.
I am actually quite unaware of how exactly the lore behind Zalgo and all that go, the flashback images are just to reference other Rerun songs, pretty much just a nice little touch.
As for the tails running segment and all that, it was mostly improv on my end based on how the song was sounding (hectic or calm), it just gave the visuals an extra flare outside of lore purposes
I'll definitely take the feedback into consideration though and see what I can change when the full finished product comes out! Thanks!
@ItsSoraval also the rerun trailer has a background for the tails section for when it's just him in the darkness, I haven't seen any fan made version add it so far, if you could add it maybe just for details that would be nice
In that same scene tails actually reaches out and grabs sonic also shown in the rerun trailer with an animation for it as the transition, there's also a scene shown with spikes behind sonic in the trailer
After tails grabs sonic it transitions to sonic doing his up pose in the full Zalgo sonic form before switching back to his non full form before then going back to it after the songs beat drops
I hope these elements can be added to a revision of this fanmade mod
