I have a Defender case with the auxiliary protective front cover. I the phone feel on hard tile floor and no problems. I have had the same box for my iphone 4s and it really took a beating. The phone itself looks brand new. Otterbox stands behind their product and will replace free of charge any worn pieces. They make great cases.
You right I dont have a iPhone but I've had my defender case for my samsung for 2 years now and everytime I dropped it was still perfectly fine even when I dropped it on hard concrete.
I sat mine on the bumper of my truck. Went down the road to the beach and drove down the beach. Got out nice area. Went to get my ice chest out of the back and there it sat. Amazing!

Personally, I agreed with you both until only about 2 months into use with my commuter. The smaller plastic pieces around the edge of the case began to break off, which I was mildly unhappy about, but then I dropped my phone from about 1 foot onto tile and my screen completely shattered. Super unlucky, but I’ll never ditch the defender again.
My experience with the clear Otterbox Symmetry for my iPhone 7 Plus: it is yellowing proof but it scratches super easily despite the box claiming otherwise

I have a Black Symmetry Case. While I love the Symmetry Case for my iPhone 10, it's a bear to install and to remove, IMO. While the top hard rubber lip of the case is a stiff (which makes hard to put on and take off) it gives a tight seal around the screen to keep out dust. Like all Otterbox Cases, it gives me great protection to you phone.
Defender case is the best protection I’ve ever owned with all my iPhones over the years, but the wireless charging doesn’t work through it, plain and simple.

Being in the military you learn that "Military Grade" just means low quality and expensive. So just because something advertises it. Don't base your opinion on an over exaggerated term. Defender case does a good job tho.

Just a heads up, I have the iPhone X in the otter box defender case, and also have a stand up wireless charging device like you showed. My phone will connect to the wireless charging pad with the case off, but will frequently disconnect and reconnect charging. This can be bad for the battery

I'm just wondering if I should get it on the official otterbox website or not... Always scared of getting inferior products and the issue of replacing things if they don't work is much harder when buying from a third party. Seems otterbox has some godlike customer service. I'd have to pay 10-15 dollars more if I buy from their official site(I'm buying it together with their screen protector as that one has great reviews too). Maybe it's worth it for the warranty. Currently, they have a 20% off "bargain" going. Buy a case and get something for 20% off. The screen protector is thereby 20% cheaper. However, this actually sucks because if you register to their newsletter, you get 10% off the entire purchase. I actually lose 5 dollars or so thanks to getting 20% off the screen protector instead of 10% on the whole purchase -.-
I have had the Defender on several phones, but it seems lately that the rubber backs get all stretched out and flap. Not sure if it is a different manufacturer, rubber composition, or cheaper piece to save costs. Very disappointed. I have the Lifeproof NEXT, and it is very slick, looking to try the PELICAN Shield next.
I have the symmetry is NOT scratch resistance. I have it right now . It was sooo many scratches and I have only dropped in once . It is a bad case . It was a blue ish tint , and it is very hard to put on and off .
I dropped my iPHONE a few years ago and then I ran it over with a forklift by accident It was in an Otter Box Defender case . And there was not even a scratch on the phone . I will say that the Defender does not have a screen protecter . But you can buy that separately and put that on and it will still fit the case . I highly recommend that you do that .

What does "military grade protection" actually mean? You mention this, but it seems like a marketing thing. There isn't any real "military grade certification," is there? Is this a specific height of drop protection? Or a certain force that the case is guaranteed to protect against?
otterbox markets the pursuit as their "toughest, most protective case" for some reason. Whether or not it's true, I don't know. The defender is a bit bulkier and should give better protection, right? At least against various things. Whatever the case is, the pursuit is quite a bit more expensive and I honestly don't really like the design too much. It seems too sleek and polished, as if it'll glide around when you do stuff with it or place it somewhere. So, I'll just go with the tried and trusted alternative, it's not as if it's TOO bulky.
I have an iPhone 8 with a commuter case and a magnetic car holder. I have the metal plate between the phone and case but it needs to be all the way at the bottom so it doesn’t interfere with the wireless charging. Still has a good hold and hasn’t fallen off my dash yet.
Usually they do, I a have a defender case on my iPhone 7 and a magnetic plate on the outside and works like charm, also works on the inside of the rubber part but sometimes it fell if you are on a dirt road
about 6 or 7 years ago i had an otterbox defender for my HTC phone. I left the phone on the roof of my car and it fell off on the interstate. I pulled the car over and found the phone... the otterbox snapped off the phone.. the only damage to the phone was the back fell off, battery, and the SD card.. I ended up losing the SD card... but the phone it self looked in good condition minus one small detail... The power button broke... well i was unable to turn the phone back on. moral of the story, don't buy android devices.I actually just purchased the Otter Box Defender from Amazon, after Spigen Hybrid case failed my first Iphone X, whole back of that phone shattered while inside the case. I'm currently on here watching this video while i wait for my Iphone X replacement to be delivered via UPS... Let's hope i don't leave this phone of the roof of my car LOL

My Belkin wireless no longer charges my 11X Pro with the defender unless the rubber cover is removed.
Some belkin chargers specify the area / distance from contact. Example 3 mm.

Joshua Gray It's water RESISTANT, meaning it can only go down to like a meter and a half in water before it stops working.
I tested it and my iPhone 10 survived 17 feet of water for 35 minutes no problem lol it’s just not suggested to go over a meter
