Could she be any more inspirational? Her explanation of political funding actually made sense and you can understand how corruption is almost encouraged.
Considering the caps on donations to a campaign from individuals as well as PACs her explanation is actually very inadequate. Considering that in the last election 16% of Clinton's campaign was small donations ($200 or less) and President Trump's Campaign had 22% in small donations, coupled with the fact that only 12% of US adult population even give to political Campaigns it seems to give the impression the problem is apathy among the general public more than anything. She talks of people writing the "massive checks" but does not quantify nor qualify how much is "massive". I don't disagree changes can be made in political funding, but at least this clip is very poor at identifying the problem correctly let along offering a solution.
Jarred Davidson same, I thought it would be trump jokes but in fairness to her she made it clear that the corruption in non-partisan. I appreciate her lack of emotion and bias.

Not a lot of people know that Jennifer is really smart. Old people think that we athletes, actors, artists and young people in general, are stupid and can be just pushed around. We are just waiting for our opportunity to come so we can change this world for the better. I remember Obama talking that he in the beginning of his career talked in front of 4 or 8 people. That number got a lot bigger and fast. I may be just a kid to this old folks but people lets do this for once. Let our generation be different. You know I thought she was going to not make sense at all but god dang she really explained the truth of America and many people will never ever want it to change. Jennifer Lawrence gained my respect and support.
Wow, she is such a big hollywood star and all that and still has the courage to admit that she is nervous in this moment, this woman is really likeable :) Your Political commitment is exemplary...With great power comes great responsibility :D
She highlights a very real problem. Shame she didn’t have time to touch on more specific examples, like the Clinton Foundation basically laundering cash for Hillary 2016 etc.
I’m always villainizing Americans who say that they love their country, cos I live in Germany and it’s a very unpatriotic country. You don’t see many German flags around here and it’s rare that you hear someone say I love Germany or anything like it. So I’m easily confused when people say I love my country, i love America I’m proud to be American, cos I can’t identify with feelings like that. But sometimes I think patriotism is so normal in many countries that I should maybe stop hating people who are proud of their country. I’m never gonna be a patriot, I think there’s so much wrong about that, but maybe I have to stop disliking patriots of other countries, because there’s too little people left in America who are not patriots.
You should read “The Social Contract” by Roseau (sp?), Jen.The book describes the evolution of government from prehistory to present democracies and government under the Constitution of the United States.
The root of political corruption is the high cost of broadcast advertising. That's where all the money ends up. When our system was created broadcasting did not exist, so the cost of running for office was low. The broadcasting lobby will not let us switch to a free system now, but there is a better way to pay for the ad time politicians need. We could add a small election advertising fee to our cell phone bills. Cell phone ownership is nearly universal and it's appropriate that a problem caused by high air-ware advertising costs be solved by an air-wave use fee. The math is fairly simple. Elections come around every 24 months. So, 24 x .50 x 223-Million cell phones = $2.676 Billion per election. We dole out the money, we set the budgets, we make the campaign rules. ABC reported last year that the average American spends about $1,000 a year ($83.34/month) on his or her cell phone. Who among us would really feel fifty cents per month? Most of us would put that in a parking meter without blinking and eye. With increased competition monthly rates should be going down. There's more to this plan, like open primaries and just funding the two leaders, but I don't want to go on and on. Basically, we need to replace the few big money donors with millions of small money donors to get our country back. Politicians really only listen to those who fund them. We, the people, have to become the sole source of funding.
People that comment that she is just another celebrity and doesn't know enough about politics are the same people that voted for Trump. *She will have the young votes needed to change our political system her voice will speak volumes and our country will benefit from her honesty.*
Have to disagree with you there, ivone owl. She really didn't graduate high school, get a GED, or go to college, unlike many other celebrities who did and have degrees. While I don't think you have to be educated or have a degree to educate yourself on politics and then become an activist, you do have to be able to appeal to both sides, which doesn't seem to be happening here. It doesn't matter if you voted for Trump or didn't, if you want to change the system, you have to appeal to BOTH sides for change, that's how you got Trump in the first place (only acknlowledging one side, and ripping on the other, sort of like what you did with your comment there). She doesn't seem to be able to do that, and so I don't think she's being honest in this tour by saying she's not trying to tell people who to vote for. She hasn't exactly come out as an independent, and bias matters when speaking to easily influenced teens and young adults.
BriarRose - JLaw is taking a year off from acting to "educate" herself on politics because she will be an activist. She wouldn't be hugely popular if she didn't appeal to BOTH sides. We are all trying to find out how we got Trump in the first place, Mr. Mueller is working on it currently. Teens and young adults are taking on adult matters (Parkdale shootings in Florida) so they should not be easily dismissed since they will have a great impact in our coming elections.
I don't think being a celebrity makes you qualified, but it doesn't mean you're not qualified. Either way, most Trump voters voted for Trump as a giant middle finger to the establishment.
I'm glad she's bringing awareness but I've noticed celebrities always go to these schools that don't have many minorities. I went to 3 different schools in 3 different cities and I've always been surrounded by mostly minorities. Is it because those schools pay them?
Ms Lawrence corruption has been part of politics for millenium: The change must be with the society and what we accept. The latter point is to reduce the influence of corporation... by reducing our dependence on corporations. Walmart has more than $500 billion in sales and employs 2.3 million people. We need to make mega-corporations more modest; not by laws but by our own buying. We don't need to destroy Walmart, just reduce our dependency. It will be a slow process. We might actually threaten Walmart directly... even 5% could be painful
Tell us something we don't know. How brave is it when you aren't calling anyone out in particular? How controversial or brave, then, would it be to offer no solutions? Are not students and others afraid of being banned on social media for telling a truth or opinion that may be offensive to the ruling classes? Was she brave? I'm not sure. If this video represents all she was going to say then no, nothing to see here.

Ummmm....isn't she one of the few wealthy individuals who can afford to give large donations to politicians?! Why is she trying to make herself out to be just some citizen with agerage means? What's sad is that those kids are so enamored by her celebrity status that they probably won't question her.
She's not a billionaire. Also she actually seems to care about other people besides her having the power to vote and have their concerns addressed by our government too.
She never implied that she cannot write the big checks... she said that buying politicians is unAmerican - and it is. Also, her wealth in no way compares to the likes of the Koch brothers or Bill Gates.
