Dale Jr talked about this movie in his podcast, many of the story lines are based on real events, some involving Dale Sr. The barn where Harry built the car is still standing on Morrison Plantation Rd in Mooresville, NC and the Piece of property on Lake Norman with the gazebo where Rowdy talks bout building his $10M lake house still has not had a home built on it.
I ended up with some of the salvage from this movie, including getting an SS body for my local short track car. I seem to remember Greg Sacks actually winning a race here in Daytona.
Legendary man. When you can hear or see the air around you and make the car run the way you want it to. Legend of nascar Earndhart . Drivers make the sport not dramatic garbage like today.
One of my favorite movies of all time. Wish they'd make a new NASCAR movie although it would probably be more of a Lifetime Movie today. Not as gritty as it once was. I think the current generation of filmmakers and script writers need to watch this and pay particular attention to what Jerry Bruckheimer says at the end, about the movie being about the story and making the audience fall in love with characters. Maybe then, movies will be good again.
it sucks now. NASCAR forgot about the blue collar fans that made them rich after Earnhardt Sr. died. Brian France took over from his dad too, I don't think he comes from the same back ground as his daddy and granddaddy. most likely a silver spoon fed, spoiled little shit who wants the sport to appeal more to the wine drinking do gooders than the blue collar, beer drinking working man that helped make this sport what it is. plus the rules have changed drastically, the race car duels of the past will never be that way again...
Jon D They keep changing the rules like every season too, makes it hard to keep track of things! I do like how much safer it is though, now my favorite driver can have a spectacular wreck, but I don't have to worry, and they'll be back next week to do it again!
