I drove one from 1970 (base model) all over Europe. By then, it was 13 years old. Except for a generator and to far worn brake pads, no problems. And it was just as fun as the Abarth. Sounded the same, shorter gearing. Not quite the acceleration and not nearly the Abarth top speed and not the fancy rev counter and gauges, but who cares. The driving fun was the same.

Etwas über 100.000 km gefahren, nie liegen geblieben. Defekte außer einem undichten Hauptbremszylinder nichts. Am Ende Rost am Kotflügel vorne in Türnähe, dazu Lagergeräusche am Motor, leider nur drei Kurbelwellenlager. Die Schaltung war nicht knackig präzise, insgesamt aber ein prima Auto. Der Abarth war ein Traum, blieb es aber aus finanziellen und rationalen Überlegungen. Die großen Instrumente - Tacho und Drehzahlmesser - sind perfekt, besser geht das nicht. Nachgerüstet wurden Dreipunktgurte und Kopfstützen. Das weiße Dach war im Sommer willkommen, eine Klimaanlage war damals ein eher seltenes Ausstattungsdetail.

I've been driving stick shifts all my life and I never felt a need to use my third hand to shift gears. I ought to try it out one of these days! 😁

Those are Campagnolo ‘Ragno’ wheels. Ragno meaning Spider. Aftermarket wheels but they really suit this wonderfull little car.
