Looking forward to seeing how everything grows this summer, including your little helper ! Here in the mountains of Idaho (zone 5a) we had a great harvest of yellow raspberries and red currants last year most of the other berries just did ok. We’re phasing out the blueberries and getting more honey berries this spring, they just seem to be more durable and don’t require any special soil.
TIL that you got different varietes of raspberries like earlies and autumn! Amazing. Just curious when do the early ones become available for picking? And also - do you have a specific place you source these from in Scotland? Thanks! Great vid btw!
Are you planning on adding any companion planting? I see alliums mentioned along with chervil, turnips, and yarrow. Just curious. Great efforts in getting these fields done.
Forgot to ask in my earlier comment but do you have a plan on deterring birds from eating the berries at all or are raspberries quite good at protecting themselves from the birds? I had a small bush in the garden and was surprised that most of them escaped the attention of the birds but they were pretty well hidden and covered by their own thorns.
Top of the morning to you my friends

It’s all going to look so amazing this summer ❤
Great video & seeing family. Best of luck with new plantings.
You are a hard working man! It was fun to see Lily ‘helping’ you😊
Many thanks!

Hi there, yes we’re adding various herbaceous plants and canopy trees into these plots. Many thanks!
Thanks for taking us along! Why do you have to cut down the raspberrys though?
Thanks! It encourages stronger growth. Autumn varieties ideally need cut down every season and summer fruiting have last years canes removed.

А почему вы не сделали гряды по горизонтали? Есть причина?
Glad to see the flag stealer making an appearance.
