    Strangely enough the Bacon Brothers and Daryl Hall do a nice cover of this song. Thanks Dave. I can dig it.

    Love this song and your tutorial is very helpful. I heard this song in a grocery store once and it was all I could do to not sing and dance in the aisle. Thanks for sharing this.

    It's the 30th anniversary of the release of the Paul Weller album this September and he still plays Above the Clouds at his live shows; I guess that shows it really is a great song. Thanks for demonstrating the Wes Montgomery octave solo, I always wondered what was happening there. (and your vocal is really good too, cheers Dave!)

    This is a brilliant lesson, I went to see Paul Weller in June, he was incredible, and he played songs from all his reincarnations, including this one off his first solo album in 1992 I think. Your song lessons are an amazing mix, the older ones I remember being played in the 70s on the radio here in the UK, LIKE summer breeze, the Bread songs Alvin bishop the carpenters, so many. Brilliant channel, just subbed. Thanks for what you’re doing Dave.

    Thank you Dave. I've been working on this song since you recommended it a while back. As you mention, I heard the B11 but watched him play what looked like some form of B7sus4 (which may be an 11 anyway minus the 9) but you set me straight on the B11 with the more familiar voicing. Very nice and, of course, very good.

    Hi Dave, I have a music theory question when you get a chance to have a look. I was learning this song by Sublime called "Santeria". Its in the key of E , starts with an E chord and then you slide into a G# Major chord and then goes to a C#minor chord and then to a BMajor chord. Now usually you would have a G#Minor chord but here its using a G#Major chord. So I did some digging on the internet and there was a mention of G#Major being used to resolve to the C#Minor chord, I didn't quite get it so thought to ask you. Thankyou!

    • @DavesGuitarChannel
      @DavesGuitarChannel  2 роки тому +1

      Yes the major 3 chord makes it feel like a 5 chord to the C#m giving it a secondary resolution then the B will resolve back to the E.
