Its based on a poem Till wrote about a similar story. But I want to say I'm really enjoying these Rammstein videos you're cranking out with the lyric translation, so many react without knowing the words or story and it's like watching half a song. Your reaction to the dark story is really interesting. Keine Lust would be a good reaction next!

,,Wenn Mutti spät zur Arbeit geht" heißt das originale Gedicht. Das war wohl erst zu heftig für Rammstein, um daraus einen Song zu machen!
Für das Coverprojekt ,,Nebelhaus" war's aber OK! 😬

The picture that's painted is so disturbingly vivid. The official version is harrowing when you hear Till screaming . The live leaves you in little doubt what the story is about. I'm always left with an image of a child trapped in his room, having witnessed far too much and being sent completely over the edge because he's so powerless. I've read other story endings but Rammstein always allow you to draw your own interpretation and conclusion. Dark, disturbing and so,so Rammstein.

He's an incredible storyteller, for sure. This is one of my favorites on their self-titled. He does a phenomenal job on the piano version of "Mein Herz Brennt".

Nice reaction video, but the studio version is the one people should be reacting to when doing reaction videos off this song. The live versions of this song are a spectacul to behold, but it does not carry the emotional weight compared to the studio version. The song has so many little details in the background, that simple are missing from the live version. And the angre and pain in his voice will give you chills and haunt you. Like many already said a dark, brutal and brilliant song.

This song is heavy, one of the darkest Rammstein songs - definitely the most haunting part of concerts they play now... I love the song and theatrics, but everything is extremely creepy here: the doll itself, guitars playing sinister melody, and finally the carbon-black confetti spread in huge amounts all over the audience! For me it is the most scary part of the whole show, and I'm happy that my kids won't know German yet when I'll take them to the concert next year 😅
Thank you for this reaction! Have a nice day! 😊

I highly recommend seeing the band live...they'll be in the states late summer. Sept show will be my 19th...and it's always worth the money and hassle to get there and deal w all the ppl. Each time, I take someone who's unfamiliar w the band. They don't understand a word...but always leave saying that was the coolest fucking thing I've ever seen! And that makes me happy!

When little sister has to go to work
She locks me in the room
    Has given me a doll
    So that I'm not alone
When sister needs to go to work
She does not go by train
Her place of work is not that far away
    It's the room next door
    Dark clouds in the sky
    I dutifully take my medicine
And wait here in the down bed
    Until the sun goes down
    They come and they go
    And sometimes there are two
    The late birds sing
    And the sister screams
    Dark clouds in the sky
    I dutifully take my medicine
And wait here in the down bed
    Until the sun goes down
And then I tear off the doll's head
Then I tear off the doll's head
Yes, I bite off the doll's neck
    I am not doing well
I tear off the doll's head
Yes, I tear off the doll's head
And then I bite off the doll's neck
    I'm not feeling well, no!
    Dam-dam
    Dam-dam
    Dam-dam
While sister is devoting herself to the work
The light in the window is red
    I watch through the keyhole
And someone clubbed her to death
And now I tear off the doll's head
Yes, I tear off the doll's head
And then I bite off the doll's neck
    I'm doing well now, yes!
    I tear the doll's head
Yes, I tear off the doll's head
And now I bite off the doll's neck
    I'm doing very well, yes!

His sister is younger than him so what i think is that he has the mind of a child...i think she's rather young but still legal..like 19 or 20 and he's like 21 or 22 but mentally he is probably 10 to 12. So when she gives him the doll and he takes his medicine which is to help him sleep and to relax him because he does know what his sister does..he may not fully understand but i believe he pretend to take the medicine and has snuck out before and found out what his younger sister does thats why in the 1st chorus when he says he rips the head off and bites the neck he says "Im not doing well" "im not doing well..no" he is already unstable as to what he's already seen.
Then he sneaks out again but this time he sees his own sister beaten to death..so in the 2nd part of the chorus he again starts screaming about ripping the head off and biting the neck off but now he says "now im fine..yes" "im doing very well..yes" so he has descended into madness. Now what i believe is in the beginning he would take his anger out on the doll but that wasnt helping...the night he saw his sister killed..i believe he actually killed the man that murdered his sister and afterwards he goes back to his room and this time as he bites and rips the dolls head and neck he now feels very good because his sister isn't screaming anymore and the man can't hurt her anymore. I believe the burning of the doll represents innocence being destroyed and may even indicate him setting the man on fire...in the end when the black confetti is released that symbolic to ashes from burning a body and/or signify the darkness that can be found in ones own soul and mind.

I’m picturing that he’s actually like Rob Zombie’s Michael Myers physically. I like your idea that he was watching because he didn’t take his medicine that time. And I agree, in the second chorus he is brutally murdering the customer that killed his sister (ripping his throat out with his teeth)

Not yet. Allow him to dive more into the rabbit hole of brilliant lyrics before and give some time to open his mind. Otherway this is most likely gonna make him REALLY uncomfortable. " Wiener Blut" was a very tough one for him, already.

Maybe because I was alredy fimiliar with the horrific event throu the german media, (or maybe my mind is at a point to accepted human nature in all its shapes and forms), it was tough, but I could feel the energy and anger (especially in Till's voice) right away. I haven't looked at which other Rammstein content you have reacted to, but if you didn't yet, you MUST react to Wiener Blut (Live, Madison Square Garden), or I think the channel Educated Marine might have done a video with English translation - and the background story. rammstein? not so much, there are only a fraction of Songs i would Listen to while driving

their lyrics..music Video...live Performances.. hit differently for (me)

For whatever reason, I actually thought the sister was his mother. Not questioning translation because I speak no German. I just really thought it was a child and couldn't figure out why she would have her little brother. He's an unstable/unreliable narrator, so his recitation is questionable. I always saw it as a much darker situation than Metallica's Turn the Page. Thanks for clearing that up!!
