No Cover is the only true original music competition show focused on changing the lives of unsigned artists. This series is about discovery, mentorship, hard reality and launching careers. No Cover is created and produced by the music business, not traditional Hollywood studios. We believe this is the show fans and musicians around the world have been waiting around for years to see and it’s finally here! NO COVER, NO MERCY!
No Cover was filmed on location at the legendary Troubadour and Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood, CA. 25 of these original artists will be competing for the top prize, which includes a six figure recording contract with Sumerian Records, representation from United Talent Agency and Shelter Music Group, performance slots at a Danny Wimmer Presents Music Festival, a $10,000 shopping spree from Guitar Center, PLUS! brand new gear from Gibson USA, Mesa Engineering, Ernie Ball, Liquid Death and Discmakers. No Cover features five main celebrity judges: Alice Cooper, Lzzy Hale, Gavin Rossdale, Bishop Briggs and Tosin Abasi. No Cover is hosted by Kellin Quinn (Sleeping With Sirens) Caity Babs (Sirius/XM) and Matt Pinfield (MTV, Vh1)

Were these recorded a while ago, and just uploaded now?. Cos I'm already familiar with a few of the artists.
@@bombercountyblues Yes. Over a year ago.
Slay Squad won the whole contest!
Proof: Bass player playing with a pick and a new bass. The new bass came from the Guitar Centre money.
This video and production also absolutely slaps, beyond their previous efforts.
They're also touring with Sumerian bands Veil of Maya and Born of Osiris.
The competition was held about a year ago as all the bands hadn't been playing live because of COVID.
They also dropped this days before the show aired, for promotional purposes. Likely the show was filmed all in a few days also.
@@wesleygeofferson5171and this is why you don't look at the comments until the entire show is over it seems. Why would you comment this on a middle episode?
@@TheBearjones because sumerian are sillyyyyyy for letting that obvious info out lmao at least put them on a tour without sumerian bands
I just saw Slay Squad live on their tour with Born of Osiris and the blew the walls off the place. SUPER fun to see them live. I would see them again in a heartbeat.
Did they have the same bass player??
@@mikesmith6129 just saw them last night and his stage presence is actually on par with the vocalists now.
I'm so sick of singer competitions! I love this format though. Including bands and treating the whole band as the act is right fucking on! Thank you.
It's been there since before you were born with Amateur Night, Star Search, Dance Fever.
@@jnadle1 all shows I used to watch...decades ago.
Especially when singing competitions are looking for just "normal" and "traditional" singing (pop, rock, and blues almost exclusively). BangerTV did a shred competition, which is dope, but now a band competition? Yeah, rock and metal know how to do competitions better beyond just the frontman/singer.
Tosin hit the nail on the head when he said, “I don’t even think you need this show” Julian’s killing it right now!
I love how tosin just analyzes the bass player like a computer and assesses his skill level is beginner
elon type computation
It’s not rocket science
I bet the guitarist was a beginner too.
It's not hard. Beginners stick out among experienced players.
Anyone that plays stringed instruments for awhile would notice that bro
Julian (Loveless) was my vote. Should have had a second chance with the band. I didn't understand the "you don't fit here" mentality at the end. At least he got the Spotify shoutout at the end. 😂
I'm French, I understood most of the show, but I can't find out the final verdict regarding Loveless?
Haha! This show doesn't count. 💕
He will bring them to the top.
@@MarieG-ud5qj they decided he would be better playing with a band so he did not advance on, luckily they do have a band and are making amazing music!
@Ryquee/Ry thanks for replying! Yes, I discovered them 3 weeks ago, they have incredible talent... It's unbelievable that a nugget like Loveless with the voice of Julian and the soundtracks that go with it doesn't get recognized! I pass them on a loop. It's been years since I've had a musical crush like this. It feels good...
@@miss_misery22
My Google translation looks weird, nuggets? I meant nugget like a jewel
As a first time bass player you really showed the balls standing in front of the guitar player of the decade.
What he plays and the way he plays it, it almost is a bass.
soooo sick that Slay Squad is on here, the realest around
I'm in the IE and first time hearing these guys. SICK

I came to this show just to check it out to find LOVELESS PLAYED! Man only if he played Control with a full band, judges would've fuckin' loved it. Even Lighthouse would've been such a great showcase of his talent.
control wasn’t even recorded yet! smile was the new single at the time
Damn, how long ago did you record this show? I thought it was done recently - derp.
@@valeriesprayberry6976 it was filmed in February of last year.

Julian from loveless was awesome in this
Lols looked at numbers Spotify for each band just curious how small these unsigned artists are and.
Slay squad - 2285 monthly listeners with top song having 2882 listens
Tillie- 127,347monthly listeners with top song having 598,180 listens
Loveless -529,127 monthly listeners and top song having 4,811,251 listens.
Slay Squad numbers might be getting a boost…..
@@killedpatrick slay squad fucking slayed
@@avinova1522 they definitely lived up to their name
I’m confused cause I’ve been jamming to Loveless for like 2 years and remember the song he did with Kellin in 2020 like… how is he not signed yet??
i think someone with 100k/500k listeners shouldnt be on that show. they already have a good network and probably dont need to get signed anyway, since theyre already making a good career DIY
I've always thought we needed a metal talent show
It’s not all metal, not even all rock, I’d say it’s just a music competition with unsigned artists doing original songs, like it says.
Even in a metal contest singer-songwriters will show up anyway 😆
Yeah, I hope we get one one day.
I see a lot of Sepultura and a bit of Body Count influences all over Slay Squad!! They would compete neck to neck more than 22 years ago with both of those bands. Feels like a revival of the good old days of the different Metal styles, which I still LOVE to this day!
Well said.
I felt some Oceano in there too.. My god did those boys bring the fuckin noise!
@Nye1000 is the band "DRAIN" from Cali? If needed check the songs "Feel the pressure" or "Army of One"
Felt the body count vibes immediately
body count had real thrash musicians... just because these guys were rapping over top of metal does not make them come close.
I’m here for Loveless! 🥹
20:45 Tosin makes an excellent point. Had everyone shook lmao.
the GOAT he ain't here for mediocrity
Idk i thought slay squad was really good like the next suicidal tendencies but more djenty and heavy im disappointed tosin did not like them 😕
@@david96x61 he did like them. He was simply stating the LIVE energy is a huge part of their thing and may not translate on a record.
Everyone voting for the metal band, except for the metal guy, cause he has heard it before a million times.
@Nye1000 My thoughts exactly seen a few bands with similar sound/look and doing it much better. Tillie sounds like a lot of the singers blowing up on tiktok and that's not a bad thing it's still fresh enough.
I checked their music, it is in fact different
@@Jorgetime it's basically Attila with two vocalists.
@Nye1000 it's culturally diverse in a good way. think about all of the failed metal bands with prominently black members. there aren't any you can probably think of. these guys culturally bind the rap culture into the deathcore culture and do it well. it's like a black comedian getting big off of white humour (like youtuber Jidion does often).
Some of the bands in the contest literally sounded like cardboard copies of Korn, Silverchair, Muse and Kings of Leon. These guys at least combined two styles and cultures and made it work.
@Nye1000 every rock band since the 1980s has sound basically the same. image is what ends up selling an artist in an oversaturated space. these guys are a fucking SHOW. non pretentious with over 8 years experience performing live (look at their channel). they are astounding, without needing to be super original or technical to do so.
their Sumerian produced track Beam is an example of what good engineering and writing from the label side can do for them.
i just got here, no one post any spoilers
Lol you are the best
LOVELESS? I LOVE YOU MAN i was not expecting to see you on here!
dude, you were so good! def got that good lead singer vibe going. I totally agree with the judges, I don't think you need the competition to be successful with your music
your song with Kellin Quinn- Someone Else, has been on repeat for me for a while now. You def dont need the competition to be successful 🤘
Not just saying this because I'm a massive Loveless fan or because I specifically watched the show just for them but they killed it! So no, I'm not biased at all 😁
I am instantly on my way to watching every Slay Squad video I can find!
Awesome show!! Slay Squad has my vote. Feel like the WARAQ clip could have been left out
Think it’s dope they included them 🤷♂️ maybe we will see them next season
They need some noise gates, stage dives, and tightness.
They just sound like clowny drill music
They sound horrible imo
I feel like one or more parties was either too fucked up to perform/someone got arrested is why they didnt perform infront of them.. they seem like theyre still on that soubdcloud clout chasing bullshit, and as j cole predicted.. this shit over
I cant believe Loveless is here!! My favorite band atm ♥
I love music competition shows and watch them all. I love this judging panel, they’re not afraid to give the artists constructive, useful criticism. I also love that No Cover actually shows in depth the deliberations especially in this episode. IMO all three of the bands deserved to move on in the competition but I can see why the judges made the decision they did. This show is a refreshing take on the music competition and I’m excited for the rest of this season and hopefully more seasons to come!
I also love that it’s fast. No fake jokes. No “bad bands” for humor. No 20 minute puff pieces about how “our next contestant was literally saved by music…”.
These judges are being soft of the bands. They are afraid to give hard constructive criticism. The only one that does is Tosin and they cut him out a lot.
I'm liking every episode of this because I already want 6 more seasons! This is the show I've been waiting for all my life!
Here to see loveless!! 🖤🖤🖤
oh hi there :)
same here!
Same!!! Loveless is the best!!
Yesss
JULIAN I just love how honest you are with your vulnerability 😇
This is the best music related show or even just talent artist show I've ever seen! Im so excited to see each episode. Great judges and there are some great talent on this show!
same
I really hope this series finds success on UA-cam. It`s very rare to see this kind of competition done in such a organic way and aims to please actual lovers of music, rather than the reality-show typical audience. Plus the killer cast of judges. Please keep it up!! Love this.
Tosin! Tosin! Tosin! Tosin! So greateful this has a real musician in the judge panel to assess and critique the bands
They did Loveless so dirty! Everyone heard the power in the voice but nooooo they said "you're not the right fit 🤓"
They clowned him!
How are you going to perform for Sumerian Records with just an acoustic guitar? He did it to himself. Great singer - and needed a band.
i agree. he dumb for not having the band out there
Loveless said on IG that they were asked to come the literal day before and Dylan (the guy he normally plays with) couldn't show up. It was either alone or nothing.
@@ehpiii_music I wouldn't hold playing acoustic against him. The show has been bringing in different genres, so I am not certain that Sumerian is looking for a traditional rock band setup
In case anyone is curious, this was filmed in February 2021. Two members of Waraq were arrested in 2020 for inciting a riot in Providence and likely never brought that up. Chances are that's what the show was talking about when they said "for reasons out of the show's control..."
I'm surprised they showed them at all let alone so much of them.
they were terrible anyways
Bunch of white boys in ANTIFA claiming social justice probably 😂😂
They looked like troubled kids im glad they did not compete. They shouldnt even have previewed them at all but its nice of the show they still did
They're a clown show ... no where near the level of the other acts
Slay Squad killed but need a bass player. I like Tillie the most (look at Tosin's reaction at 7:54), and Loveless sang his ass off but needed a band, he struggled with guitar and hit the low E a few times which rang and he shouldn' t have.
Woah - Tillie
Honestly this was my favorite episode so far. With Slay Squad they really gave a great live performance. With Tillie I got chills with the lyrics “put my brother to rest, and god I’m only human” my brother passed as well and as humans sometimes it feels like we can only take so much. it seems like she’s been through a lot. Loveless was the only artist I knew of prior to this episode and closest to what I listen to. I appreciate his raw performance, love his vocals and feel like it was the best he could do being by himself. With a full band behind him the energy would been different and he really could showcase what I’ve seen his voice do. I am excited to see what the No mercy artists from each episode come up with, I can’t wait.
I think it is awesome seeing Tosin's authentic reaction to the musicality, and how he hangs on the notes. Thanks for that. As a musician that isn't the lead singer, it is refreshing to see someone react to the rest of the band.
Addicted to this channel and show... one: bad ass bands and new flavors of art and sounds... two: Gavin Rossdale... my all time favorite singer and lyricist... three: Alice cooper... SO MUCH YES!!!
Tillie was great, and this is coming from a metalhead. She should've gotten a straight win here.
i agree. -ash
I read this as she went through the first chorus and I had to agree - although the verses are a hard NO for me
@@djmitchyslickofficial9717 I think they might've been arrested during a protest
Agreed. Coming from someone who loves punk , stoner, doom, metal
Not into pop, but she deserves a lot of attention in the pop scene, having gritty and real lyrical content, as a hip hop and heavy music fan.
this show kicks American Idol's ass in all manners
Binge watched all three episodes back to back, can't stop watching!

Tosin is a musicians musician and he notices everything..
why would you say Tosin is a musician's musician when he doesn't comprehend what he plays and can't explain it? that is not a trait of a "musician's musician". fine if you like his music but he can't elucidate anything analytically about what it is he writes or plays.

Hell yeah 🤘 finally something heavy and current. Slay slayed.
Tosin doesn't hold back and props to the bassist. That's a very scary start.
Current?!?! They are a about 20years behind the times. Crazy that they got chosen, generic 2000's metal core. Meh
@@goatbrain5278 that could have been said about pink floyd back in the 70s man.. all music has been done.. but bands like slay squad, being on any show like this, with a screamer is amazing! every other musician they showed or that performed was your run of the mill pop.. acoustic playing john mayer type of music, no offense to them.. but this isnt a show about creating a new genre of music.. its about trying to get signed to sumerian records? right? they have the best chance on sumerian with bands like periphery, veil of maya, animals as leaders.. that type of music. right? i dont think id see a periphery, animals as leaders, and a loveless or tillie tour… can you?

I am so hype to see LOVELESS on this! I love them!
Tosin really complements the judges since he can analyse the more technical instrumental side of things.
Why did Loveless not have a band? I've heard a few of their songs before and they would have won this competition if all members where present

Yes they do
After watching the whole episode I see now that Loveless doesn't have a band, they just bring people in to record on songs. After this I can see him possibly putting a band together. We will see.
Look at Loveless story on their Instagram. Apparently it was a last second thing and the person who would preform with him was busy so he had to make do.
