    Nice to see a "it will start" video. All the hundreds and hundreds of "will it start videos" are getting old. Anything will start with enough money and time.

      lol, same here, living on a farm we have all kinds of old equipment that sets for as long or longer than a lot of the will it start videos, and yes they will start some take a little more messing with than others

    As a kid, the noise of those engines terrified me, HA , and it still does. I can still remember as a kid listening to those things howl away in the distance on new sites and my dad visiting a site with my when those engines ruled. The tree along for the ride would make a welcome sight to anyone passing by. Such a shame that it cannot still be put to some productive use by a small project operator - HA - one wearing some modern ear plugs AND ear muffs. I reckon all operators of those things were soon relegated to the - 'I once had hearing" club. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA.

    My dad worked for Terex GM in the 70s, I can remember seeing many brand new scrapers and dump trucks waiting to be shipped out.

      Seems to me that JA McDonald was involved building the end of I 189 at Rte 7 down to the highway to nowhere in the late 80s. Maybe that scraper served tbere.

    Could you imagine running that old relic 10/12 hours a day moving dirt? That old 2 stroke screaming next to you. Cool old chunk of iron though.

      The thing I hated about them was the seat. No cushion or air. Other than that they could move a lot of dirt.

    Love the sound of them old 12V Detroit's!
    The 6V and 12V engines were what I worked and learned on mostly, while in diesel mechanic's school in the late 70's, early 80's.

    I worked at the Terex plant in Hudson Ohio from 1973 till around 1982. Great place to work, good pay and good benefits.

      @@SomeTechGuy666 I started out in the fabrication dept. We made (formed) all the big buckets, rails, fuel/oil tanks, etc... Then I moved to the machining area and ran NC mills. (now CNC mills). Machined all types of parts. It was a great place to work, good pay, good benefits, lots of holiday pay and great medical benefits. But that was 1970's. Things were much better for the working man back then. Collective bargaining in most large shops. Our government let all the good paying jobs go overseas. They had the power to stop it if they wanted.

      My grandparents lived in Stow. We would go by Terex on the way to their house! The Christmas scene with Santa in his sleigh and the reindeer was always cool! Was that plant on 91 or rt8 ? Can't remember?

    i enjoyed seeing her go again i ran a older one a twin 24 euqlid it was a ugly old frog face thing and had a 12 -71 in from and 671 in back both none turbo your is a 12 v 92 they from the 70's the old thing i worked on road with was from the 60's . if we blew a hydraulic hose my boss bought a bunch at a sale we would weld them to make fitting work weld it not fast or we melt the the line but we kept them old things making money . i enjoy you having fun with old stuff I am 60 and ran a cable dozer D8 u DOZER was a good working Cat .

    nice my S12 exhaust did the same thing leaving the auction but i had a 35 mile run to make all but cured me of wanting anymore Detroit's . keep up the good work

    Spent many, many hours working on the old 8V 92 TI's as well as the 12 & 16 V 149TI series. You haven't seen black oil come out of a crankcase until you've worked on these engines!

    Why I love detroits. They dont break down they get retired. Then 15yrs later you can usually start them up to bury the machines that replaced them! Indestructible!

    If it's still stuck there. Try clean out the filters.& screens going to the transmission really good. It could also be very low on hydralic fluid.,or the type of fluid it uses to move the machine with. I was going to also mention if the brakes are on it will not allow it to move at all either.

    Were you able to swap out her batteries without too much trouble?
    Were her brakes seized?
    Did you replace her coolant and yank the thermostat?

    George Wimpey had a fleet of TS 24 scrapers , 8v71 front and rear. Used them on opencast coal sites in Cumbria ....also M25.
    There was a fleet in Oman " Flycamps" in the late 1970s . Building access roads for drilling equipment .... Halliburton drilling " Bush family " and Deutag drilling rigs . Fond memories of the blokes i worked with.. UK and Oman

      @@paulnolan1352 Hi Paul. If you are interested there are various U tube videos of Wimpey TS 24s on M25, Non have i found Re Cumbria Opencast sites though. Also a few scarce photos of Wimpey in Oman. " Marmul PDO camp "
      Yes in my experience they were like Marmite , I personaly liked working on them. and the memories of the day to day banter with the caracters who worked there . One could have written a book, Good yet hard long days.

You are right about working on them, they needed full time attention and I don’t think there was any part of the Scraper that we didn’t work on!. Wasn’t that front PTO a sod to do with the front Axle in the way? Or the Exhaust Manifold on the front Engine next to your right leg?, working through that square hatch!. I had better shut up or I’ll really start. I’ll check those videos out. Didn’t they run 631 and 637 at Broughton Lodge? Or was it Wimpeys at potato pot?.many thanks.

      Potato Pot hole was the last site they opened up " on the Branthwaite road" around 1985/86. Very wet site initialy. I Emigrated to Aus 1986 went to work for Blackwood Hodge , South Granvill Sydney on Terex for a while then moved to QLD. So i was only on Potato Pot a short while
      Before that Out gang site on Windscale moor before that Mable plantation and before that where the windfarm now is on the other side of the road to Out gang. Wimpey through Blackwood hodge used Terex Scrapers and a 12v 71 plus /D8H / D9. I never worked on Cat scrapers in my time at Wimpey " i dont think they owed any to my knowledge anyway". Yes constant maintenance.
      Tractor and boxs in the wet short hauls . Often " Motorways Plant " also.
      Dump trucks were R50 and a cat 777.
      Good times Good people Good banter Good company to work for one felt ones efforts were appreciated

    Try A scrub brush.& soapy water around the rim to clean out wash off dirt.&rinse it out with water.

    Hi where was that Terex built .i worked on TerexT s 24 at the Newhouse plant since 1969 .Terex then had front and rear engines

    That's a S24 S FOR SINGLE ENGINE. a A TS24 IS TWIN ENGINE A V12 IN FRONT AND V6 IN REAR . 600 hp in front and 350hp in rear

    I ran the prototype of the TS24; same style but they called mine the 979. Could that thing move dirt: we had 2 of them: This was Wagro’s equipment; from Edson, AlbertaThey also had Ts18’s. All were good

    Be glad you had brakes 99.9% don’t they drive fine on dirt. You wanna stop drop the pan. I don’t think it will go over well dropping the pan on asphalt.

      That asphalt is harder than ya think it's almost like concrete if properly rolled. Dunno how a scraper would fare but I know for a fact you can put a d9 on asphalt and it not damage the road

    Had a close friend that lives in bullhead Arizona and someone abandoned 2 of these and I checked them out and guessed they just didn't want them got the em to turn over but didn't start em .

    Shame to scrap... cost to replace if was needed would be beyond what this cost to fix. seems to drive fine, hell even if you sale it for HALF what New one cost still better than scrap price, seems scrap has dropped in price allot.
