    This movie goes deeper than the Justice system. It shines reality to never change who you are inside. Never change to fit in or to be accepted because eventually, that change will destroy you, mentally and eventually physically. I cried when Roman was deleted.

      We need good black fathers better black men like Denzel that’s true, but we don’t need better BLack women like phylicia rashad or corretta .. its not really necessary,let’s keep our black baddies on the judgement seat with a gavel in their hands and keep the focus constantly on Black men

    First time I saw this actor was on St. Elsewhere he was a young doctor in an elevator when an older white woman refused to ride with him. He tried to put her at ease by saying "it's alright, I'm a doctor here." but she still refused to ride the elevator with this black man. The look on his face was a combination of hurt, offended and sorry for her ignorant distrust. I thought then that he was one hell of a talented actor. Glad he has so much success.

    Love D in this movie.. I thought it was a portrayal of Cornel West .. He should consider playing Cornell in a biopic .. Speaking Truth about the system vs home life.. but D not all people have the same start.. no excuse but .. I've always said he knows how to carry a film and make it great...Roman J Israel is a prime example of his talent as a major actor..

    Even though I am a citizen of another country, even though I am of a different nationality... And although-what difference does it make what nationality I am? Always and everywhere-everything starts at home. Any offense, any upbringing, any actions - everything. begins. from home.
    I completely agree with Roman J.

    About crime. I was in school when the USSR collapsed. One can argue about financial well-being, but there is one undeniable drawback. Before my eyes, relations between people and the behavior of children quickly deteriorated. Whereas earlier a remark made by an adult was enough for a child to stop bullying, then in the 90s some children killed adults for the remark. In the USSR, after working for 8 hours, parents could take care of children or not, after the collapse they had to work more to earn money for food. The first years were very tough, many of my classmates had problems buying clothes, I tried meat-free soup for the first time. Children were left to their own devices, around examples of rich bandits. Results? Many acquaintances died from drugs, others went to jail. It seems to me that the causes of crime are in what teenagers see around. They see rich bandits who don't fucking work, but have a beautiful life. What do you think the children will draw? Also, does your society help those who have talent, those who can achieve more than most? Ours, in Russia - no, rather "help" to fall. It is hoped that the government will help, but modern politicians do not give a damn about people's lives, only people themselves can help themselves, but not alone, but united. The more you quarrel with each other, the worse the future of your children.
    Sorry for google translation.

      Be a role model. It's like Denzel says, if the kids don't have a father at home they look for it in the streets. A role model doesn't require money, you could be a coach of a local sports league or even simply help one out.

    This is the interview that made me not put DW at the top of my a actors list. Failure to understand generational trauma. So let's say you have a father whose just survived slavery - some might be good fathers but some will not because of the trauma they suffered, so this gets passed to the next generation cause they didn't have a father there to show them and then generations later the same things happen. How does Denzel suggest that father who came out of slavery deal with his trauma without it impacting on how good a father he is. This is the same for some mothers. We accept that there is generational trauma. It's not always going to impact the next generation but we are all built differently - so our outcomes are gonna be different. You can be raised in the most loving caring nurturing environment but still end up being a terrible parent and the reverse can also be true. If the system is also designed to then make it worse for you, then it's a constant battle to be the best that you can be. Some will inevitably overcome this but far too many will not. He even mentions that he's wife did a great job, so where was he? Its conversations like this that greatly diminish his cultural importance and impact on the next generation.

    The house too is important indeed! In this movie Denzel is like paying my old man as if he new him closely. I'm talking maniërisme, not character. I always disliked him so much it is almost hate so watching the movie annoyed me a lot. In spite of that I loved the picture because of the content.

To make it seem like well funded public school, guaranteed federal jobs, and well funded community resources in Black communities would change the percentage of single mother raising Black children alone, it criminal. Great acting. The movie sucked. I’m supposed to believe that a guy who robs convenience stores has the power and reach to have people assassinated on the street while in prison? That kind of power takes money. And, people with power and money don’t rob convenience stores.But, of course, Denzel could make a bad student film look ok, simply because of his virtuosity.

    I wish he will tell the whole story. Why is the father not in the home? It's because of systemic racism. You have to tell the whole story Denzel! Like Tone Talks, said it's not just the father being out of the household, because if that was true the incarceration rate amongst black men and black women will be the same.

    • @MrWitty-fb6pg
      @MrWitty-fb6pg 6 років тому +2

      It's a war against black men

    • @MrInternetuser2011
      @MrInternetuser2011 6 років тому +26

      Please explain how racism keeps a man from taking care of his kids. He just said his parents weren't even together, but his father was in his life.
      The worst thing you can do is tell a man he's not responsible for his own actions.
      Lets also acknowledge the fundamental difference in aggressive behavior between men and women when talking about incarceration and gender. Across the board less women are incarcerated than men, so that's a weak argument.

    • @MrInternetuser2011
      @MrInternetuser2011 6 років тому +14

      My question is though, at what point do we stop blaming "systemic racism" and start being responsible for our own actions.
      I think in the end we're saying the same thing in separate contexts. As a conservative, the whole problem of the "system" can be solved by taking power away from the system by limiting the power and interference of the government.

    • @MrWitty-fb6pg
      @MrWitty-fb6pg 6 років тому +1
